- Live playthrough of the “Planetary Duality” record front to back!
I filmed most of the shows that we played during the PD 10-Year Anniversary Tour, and multi tracked a few of the shows that I could when the house board allowed. The audio I ended up using for the video was from the Albuquerque show, except for the first three minutes which was taken from the Toronto show (due to connection issues with the board and my computer).
The footage from the ABQ is the front angle cam where I’m wearing the Interloper shirt. Ironically enough the lighting and video quality I took that night ended up being some of the poorest of the tour… LOL. I tend to play a lot of fills and detail work differently every night, so whenever the video cuts to the ABQ shots, it’s most likely because the audio didn’t sync up with the other angles, and not because I thought that the grainy, poorly lit shot was the best choice for that section. Another reason I avoided using that angle was because I was sick the night of the ABQ show, and didn't go as hard on stage as I normally do. Funny enough, I think being sick and letting stage presence take a backseat yielded a tighter multi track session compared to the other shows.
Our FOH mix on this tour was handled by Sam Kirby, and the mix of the stems was done by Cody Stewart. Sam killed the mix every night of the tour, and Cody really brought the live stems to life. That snare is straight MONEY.

Nothing but respect for anyone who can play any instruments off this album.
I had been playing guitar for more than 15 years and was disappointed that this album was so far out of my ability in my mid 20s. Then I buckled down and practiced almost every song off PD hard as FUCK for about a year and a half and became a better guitarist in that span of time than the previous 15. Turned me into a tech death guitarist for sure.

Wasn't expecting this at all but damn I'm glad you shared this. I was borderline obsessed with their first two records growing up and rather enjoy any playthrough from either one of those albums. And this one just so happens to be the "best" drum video for the faceless on the net hands down; well inn my opinion at least. Really enjoyed how you still kept your scaled down kit (not to mention how killer the kit sounds in general especially that snare). I bet after touring/writing with Rings (and Lope) that this feels pretty "tame" (in certain regards of course). Can't wait to watch this religiously, cheers.

EDIT: During Alex's time with The Faceless they played the Ancient Covenant 10 bpm slower that's why he didn't struggle during the blast run. Aaron is a badass it's just that he struggled at that blast part in ancient covenant. I think he can do it a lot better now lol.

Was never really one to listen to Faceless, but I'm glad to have another full album of music to watch you play :) It was so cool to watch you play everything from Ultu Ulla before. Hopefully I can catch an Interloper gig soon

Very tight! I love seeing a drummer absolutely killing it live. Pablo from Chelsea Grin is also a super tight live drummer even if the material isn’t as technical as this.
And he sings while playing. I've seen Chelsea Grin live and that one performance took them from a band that was okay in my eyes, to a band that is great. I listen to them all the time now. Definitely better live tho.

Damn! That's an awesome performance! I am too lazy to learn only one song from that album and you played the whole thing live - must have been a nightmare to memorize everything! I for sure couldn't have done it :D
The only odd thing I observed is, that your left hand looks very uncomfortable playing faster blast beats - odd, because double bass and right hand seem to have no problem at all going fast.
I’m not really sure but I think he does a lot of gravity blasts on his Rings of Saturn albums with his left hand instead of traditional blasts.
Currently working on my left hand's wrist and finger speed too. Even if Aaron seemingly struggles a tad bit like the rest of us, he still killed this set!

I dont think people realize how much time went into making this video, Aaron didnt have to make this but he spent most of that tour recording the shows and getting the board mix in order to give us something special. Its been 3 years and I can still remember when he uploaded it, its still amazing as ever.
