Today I'll be giving you all a few reasons as to why Tingyun is still alive.

I don’t get why people think that Tingyun is just permanently dead when the writers very clearly had to point out (through Welt) the possibility that she wasn’t dead. Why would they give us (the players) the idea that she was alive to begin with? To reveal that she’s been dead all along? That to me would have signified horrible writing, because then I would be left questioning the significance of Tingyun as a person. Is it because of that funeral we had for her in 1.3? Tbh, I don’t think that the quest was for the players to mourn, but for the people who actually knew Tingyun on the Luofu. Yukong and the other characters seemed to have good memories of Tingyun, and they somewhat gave us an idea of what the actual Tingyun was like. When Tingyun finally makes her real appearance, we’ll get to see that side that we learned from the other characters for ourselves, which is a pretty good pay off.
When you look back at it now, the entire Luofu arc did a lot of set up for future Xianzhou plot lines and also gave us an idea of what Aeons we will be focused on (e.g., Ena the Order and Xipe the Harmony in Penacony). Recontextualization is honestly amazing.
I feel like the whole Tingyun thing is a big thing players complain about when it comes to the Luofu because there was no immediate pay off (which is understandable since waiting a whole year or so for a conclusion is dreadful. If there are other parts of the Luofu they want to talk about, that’s fair game). But for this specific scenario, the fake Tingyun (Phantylia) introduces us to so much more lore - the Heliobi, which are actually pretty important to the Xianzhou lore. Version 1.5 officially made players aware of what Heliobi were. That version also reveals that the Heliobi are especially prominent in regards to the Xianzhou Zhuming (plus the Artisanship Commission). This is perfect timing because we’re going to learn some more about that flagship in starting from 2.4 to 2.X. But here’s the real kicker - Yingxing (Blade) is heavily involved with that ship and commission, meaning we’re getting more lore about a Stellaron Hunter. Yingxing was Huaiyan’s apprentice. Huaiyan is also the general of the Xianzhou Zhuming.
For a fair criticism of the Luofu, certain stuff definitely could’ve been executed better. The only reason why I like the Luofu was because I read about the lore (e.g., understanding the context between Blade and Dan Heng), which enhanced my experience in the story. BUT players shouldn’t have to be forced to read so much lore beforehand to understand the mission storyline. Fantastic lore, but rough executions.
Doesn't matter how important you think the character is or how it says so by either other npcs or her description in the character sheet.
Because : Show, don't tell.
A character you never meet and is only described as great.. just isn't. For the very same reason, i really can't care about her in any way.
@@Wifibee You have a fair point. My main interest in Tingyun mainly stems from wanting to know the unknown. Some players (like yourself) don’t particularly care about getting to know her, which is a valid stance, but for the ones left wondering about her definitely would like to see something happen with that loose end. As for her writing, it isn’t completely full proof, but I want to give the benefit of the doubt and let things play out. I can’t say she’s a great character because we haven’t seen the full picture yet, so I’m holding out on my final thoughts on Tingyun until then. This is just my stance on it.
To me, there is some fun in seeing how others say a character is vs. what they’re actually like. For example, Duke Inferno is a character we hear a lot about, and the one time we actually get a chance to see what he was like was in Acheron's flashback. I thought he was going to be some bloodthirsty maniac, and while some of that may be true, we learn he was a man who held onto his beliefs. Another famous case is Dan Feng. We hear all about him but in the end, we still know little about him as a person other than “he was arrogant”. I like learning about the real character vs. the described character. Does this make them all great characters? Until there is a pay off, we can't say they are great.
I really liked tingyun as a character it’s sad that we never actually meant the real tingyun and she probably won’t know us like the doppelgänger

Also the "often fatal" part about the Heliobi taking the form of their host is also mentioned as "Often fatal for short life species", Foxians like Tingyun, are a long life species, so they shouldn't be affected by the "often fatal" clause of the heliobi's possession process.

I mean with the multiple times characters have said that shes "probably" or "maybe" dead, theres no way she is. Characters dont usually say that when they want you to believe a character is fully gone

Ok, so after actually watching the video a bit more, to be a bit of a contrarian in the heliobi discussion, if im not mistaken, heliobi only took the ghost-like forms from memories of people, and not physically took on said forms. (The different being Tingyun looks and acts like a proper person, while Yukongs friend looks like a ghost.) I could be wrong, but from very old memories (god that event is so old now) i believe that no heliobi who mimicked the form of another without possession had any sort of coloration or physical existence. They are, in essense, ghosts mimicking an appearance as a ghost and using memories for their actions more than anything. As for Tingyun, idk. I wouldnt be surprised if we just chalked it up to Phanty (idr how to spell her name so im just gonna use this crappy nickname) using a puppet in tingyuns image, and trynig to mimicking her actions based on memories of her from those around her. Makes the most sense to me, as for where the real one is? Idk, dead in space probably.
To clarify, heliobi who posses have a physical interaction with others, but those who only mimick an appearance with no possession, do not have that and are closer to being more like a ghost. If I remember correctly anyway.
For me, the most telling is that the body that Phantillia used just disapeared. I would think, if she really killed Tingyun, she would leve the corpse to instill more despair. To revil in the "destruction".
The only wierd thing is that the higher ups from the Xianzhou Luofu were holding that funeral for her.
You would think, as an highly evolved civilization, they would check first.

wasn’t there an event where one of the heliobis became a clone of the loli dragon (I forgot her name)? Or did it work somehow differently there? I used to be scared by the argument that they were afraid to admit the character was dead or wouldn't do the resurrection twist, but now we have Misha and Firefly, so there's nothing stopping them from doing something like that with Tingyun. If I'm not mistaken, they said that the plot will be closed by the end of the year and now there is a leak with 5* Tingyun, it is still in question, but leaks very rarely make mistakes, so here it is. Bro, I have the same mania, I wrote to them a lot in support out of powerlessness and almost always they referred me to Welt’s words and to the fact that everything was ambiguous, sometimes they were simply politely silent. I even tried to ask the voice actor something, but she naturally said that she could not divulge such information. I tried to get on the Chinese Internet, but it didn’t work, I argued with people on hoyolab about this for a long time and for six months I couldn’t get out of a strong hysteria, so I understand you. Pretty much completely agree with this theory. It would not only be surprising if she never came back, it would also be a missed oppurtunity for more development on her character and the xianzhou overall. For someone so present throughout the xianzhou arc, it just feels off that she just kind of "dies" out of nowhere. So clearly something is going on
It's also worth noting, every other "dead" playable character is currently getting development or had way more time put into their stories. Even for someone like duke inferno who wasn't even playable, we still got more of a satisfying ending than Tingyun's "sendoff" thing. So it would be sort of inconsistent with the rest of HSR's story telling if they never even gave her some type of satisfying ending atleast
Also, having another broken version of an already broken character people like is just good for business. People would love a Tingyun alt and it would easily make money. So it seems like a win win no matter how you slice it and it could easily be written to make sense
I legitimately believe both from a writing perspective and from an marketing perspective, it is more impactful, fun, and reasonable for Tingyun came back to the story
@XgoSolo you should do story breakdown videos and lore videos, it is currently an open gap in the content creator space and you seem to really enjoy making the videos. I also know for a fact that there are a lot of people who skip dialogue because they dont have the time but do really care about the story. Since you probably have a better understanding than 99% of the player base you would be the best at explaining this.

A cool way they could bring her back is as a Heliobus with the will to live. She could maybe inhabit an android or just will herself back into existence with the help of other Heliobi.
Even better, what if she's the person in Loucha's coffin and has become affected by the abundance and is working with that group to end the abundance in revenge. Would be cool...

Imagine If we find The real Tingyun in the Xianzhou Zhumning/Yaoqing story and they decide they make 5 Star Tingyun. It would be Ironic if she was a 5 star version of her 4 star version.
A tailless and earless Tingyun... Yeah, this is really the most cruel way to character to gain a 5 star version... Wouldnt be suprised if her design will be the most gruesome and violent out of all HSR cast, not talking about her character itself. I mean, the Tingyun in style of the Antimatter Legion grunts would be sick.
Hoyo already proved that they can try to make a contrast between a one character in different form. (yeah, firefly sam...yeah i personaly dont like it)
A contrast between the 4 star fox and the real one is probably the most logical reason why there is so many mysteries about her in story. Its still unclear how the hell one of the most important person in one of the most powerful merchant guild got caught by some douchebags from the legion and turned into something, but still. Imagine a meetup with buddy you didnt talking to for ages and turns out this is not the same person you know before. Thats what they cook probably. Idk, the lore, the intuition, the silence,the Yukong conversation in anniversary event, the SP eater in leaks... Everything just screams that Tingyun really got in some shit that not even penacony cast doesnt experienced yet, also to remind you that every space comedy under SHAOJI'S hand can be transformed into a grimdark stuff. And for everyone who hopes for her return in the living state to understand that being dead would be better.
I really don't like idea that someone like Tingyun can be tortured and turned into some sci fi undead being, but this is the most logical way for her to comeback, due to the patterns and other things we already seen, but maybe it will be the best thing for her to expand her story and character more...
it's really scary, so I didn't really want the 5* star version like many others, but it's better than oblivion. Before this leaks, there was a very high probability that they wouldn’t tell us anything at all, so as not to injure or something like that, so that the character would be sold out, etc. even if she starts to look different, it is theoretically possible to return her memory, or maybe she initially planned everything and deliberately received new power for the sake of immortality, perhaps there was something like that in her initially and everything went according to her plan. A 5* character needs to be important and that character's story needs to be interesting, so she's not likely to just be a tortured captive with no character who's simply brainwashed. in any case they will tell us how it all came to this and in almost any case she will be alive, I’m not sure that there is really anything bad in this even if she becomes a villain for example, her own character is almost unknown to us and they will have to reveal it, I take into account the emptiness that remains, they will have to fill it with something, so I doubt that everything will be so bad that it would be better for her to be dead. maybe these are empty hopes or I didn’t read what you wrote carefully, but for sure there is a possibility that everything will not turn out so bad and it makes sense to hope for it

That would mean for some fecking reason Phantylia decided to go to the planet that Tingyun was on, stole her phone, her ID card, her employment card and other gibberish papers to prove that she was Tingyun and posed as Tingyun but not killed her? and just leave her on a planet.
