Han is still in my mind the ONLY true car guy in the entire franchise period. Every other cast member still only came off as actor/actress or enthusiast at best. Plus the small Tokyo highway nitrous burn was the best street scene
dude paul literally did a lot of stunts by himself, and drove on the track a lot, yeah he wasnt a real life street racer, cop, but he actually loved racing cars
I helped Yokomaku build this car. I did a lot of the mold prep, fab work, and assembly of this and the blue one that was built for the show in France. It was at 400rwhp when we built it. I also built the air suspension on the yellow NSX that was in the movie.
I love how Craig is ALWAYS honest, about HP. The way he broke down the claimed "600hp" to a real life 305hp. Keep the stories coming, also your book is AMAZING
The wide body kit makes it look like a totally different car. Makes it look more like a super car. First time I watched that movie I was like "What is that?"
I still remember the day We as kids gathered all the money we had and rented the original Fast and furious movie Obviously at the time it was On a VCR cassette And tbh I was fortunate To see that car culture And you sir being part of it and today sharing all this with us I really appreciate it
Tokyo drift is the movie I truly grew up with. I saw it in theatres even though my parents didnt want me to, I watched it at my friend's when it came out on dvd, and I just kept on watching it all through my teens and now young adult. Han's RX7 is such a badass car since it looks like a track LMP and it had my heart since I was 5. If I had 50K in my bank and I already had a Superlite SLR (w/ LSx454 ofc), Viper ACR, RX8 GT, Road legal stock car (vortec 8100 swapped), road legal Radical SR3.... then yeah I would buy one. I feel like the sleekness of the veilside kit has been pretty well reinterpreted with the Superlite kit car although the rear of the veilside is fucking unbeatable. Its easily my top 5 best looking car booties 😍😍
When I first saw this car probably like many others I had no idea it was a Mazda Rx7. Seeing this car back when the movie first came out had a big impact on me. Thanks again for the videos Craig!
God the best part of That movie is when Han finally slows down when doing the donuts around that GTR and you see the rear wheel just slowly come to a stop and the cars body roll come down to normal. That car easily became my favorite car in the franchise based on that alone, car was just sexy as hell when it did that!
Han's Rx7 was definitely one of the most unique, i remember seeing this movie in the theaters as a kid with some friends. Definitely blown away by the work that was done on these cars in this movie. Rx7, 350z, The S15's and that Evo was amazing. Great cars in this film, loved it.
I was like 11 and had just gotten into cars when I first saw tokyo drift. I had no idea Han's car was an RX-7. I thought the FD RX-7 was beautiful stock (still do) and when I found out what the car was, i was floored. Low key been in love with it since.
true words at the end about the movie character Han. He´s my favourite besides Brian. I guess it´s no surprise that the actors who are car guys in real life make for the most authentic movie characters in the franchise. Btw your videos are awesome, the way you speak about the cars and share you stories makes me feel like I´m in the good old days of cheap tuning and just pure fun with what these cars are all about.
Imagine if they started a series of films around Han and his street racing life before it all. And this time make everything super accurate. It would be amazing. Make it the best FnF ever. It could definitely be worth going into a trilogy at least. But I know the current ones make more money so they probably won't.
There is kind of a prequel to Han's character. It was confirmed by Justin Lin that the movie Better Luck tomorrow is a continuation of Han's character.
Robanz ZZ the F-Bomb Camaro from the 4th movie was kinda cool if you like that era Camaro. The real one (owned by the chief editor of Hot Rod Magazine) was a 8sec Nelson Racing Engines 1500hp twin turbo setup. NRE also built the 2000hp Charger that was featured at the end of the 7th Fast & Furious movie.
about 15 years ago I was scouring the web for a video like this, thanks that you made it possible after so many years to obtain such valuable info about the car !
Been waiting for this one! This is by far my favorite car from these movies, as someone who loves RX-7s, it looked fantastic and sounded even greater, that's not to mention the impact it did on popular culture and how it "cemented" the RX-7's place as an iconic movie car. Some may argue they are "cars held on pedestals", but the charisma Rotary cars like it has it is something so unique, and I saw that in Tokyo Drift. Great to hear Sung also thinks highly of this car as well, I wonder if someday he's gonna "pull of a Han" and actually build a replica of his own!
That Veilside kit RX-7 has a very nice looking front end. When I watched the movie in theather for the 1st time and didn't know that it was RX-7 with Veilside bodykit I thought it was an expensive supercar.
One of my favourites from the whole franchise. I'm so glad they decided to use real RX-7's engine sounds for this as it sounds absolutely eargasmic in the movie.
Was quite the time to be alive if you were into modified cars. Just thinking back to the amount of reputable tuning houses, quality aftermarket products and large scale car events. I remember VeilSide for their wild curvy body kits which in hindsight look quite ridiculous, but were so popular at the time. Unfortunately over the years I feel Japan has gone the same way, iconic places such as Sendai Hi-Land Raceway are now closed and SuperAutobacs in Shinonome is a shell of its former self. Love these videos for a bit of nostalgia.
Initial favourite car was Brians orange supra until Tokyo drift was released. This Veilside RX7 became my number one favourite since. Nothing else tops it for me, I just love the lines and stance of this vehicle, plus the sound of a rotary, my gosh!!
I watched Tokyo Drift in theaters more times than id like to admit- but this car is a lot of the reason I did! It is such a unique and beautiful body it immediately became my favorite F&F car- and I'm a muscle car guy! And that rotary sound is equally amazing in the movie, when they blow past the police - oh hell yes!
You're stuck in 2006. The opposite is now the case, it is immensely overrated. If you dare to criticize this movie, you'll get attacked by toxic fans. It is a good racing movie, but not a good Fast and Furious movie. It should be F1 that sets the tone for the franchise, not a commercially unsuccessful spin-off.
Each time someone bring's up Han's car I feel stupid, because when I was watching the movie first time, I didn't recognize it. I thought it was "some kind of awesome Japanese sports car that never made it to the West". Years later I found out it was in fact "just" a RX-7 with a bodykit.
Yea but isn't that what makes it fun!?!? Discovering a whole new world of car stuff. I've spent years working on Volvos but recently my wife bought me a Daihatsu Mira and I've had to use ALL the knowledge I've gained to work on this little Japanese car!!! It's great.
My FD was one of the first 500 in the US and was manufactured in January 1992. She is a special gal as she is the same age as me has 110000 miles and clean title ❤️
Honestly I watched a couple of his videos an no matter what I hear about them I can’t change my mind , it was awesome to live in that era , fast and furious , tokyo drift , need for speed games , for a couple fo years it felt like I was living in a different reality , it was fun , customised cars were awesome , decals were something else , so many different body kits , simply fun .
Tokyo drift is also my favorite fast and furious film I love that 70 Monte Carlo Sean Boswell wrecked that breaks my heart every time I see that Monte Carlo get wrecked also this will give me hate I actually think the veliside fd rx-7 looks better than the production version also the FB rx-7 is the best looking rx-7 in my opinion because 70's JDM cars are underrated and sexy
u got me with the monte carlo video... as a long time monte lover, & 30 year owner of a 71, its been the redheaded step child of the chevy family for to long... really enjoying ur videos, thanx & god bless bro
You should consider doing a video on the Evo 9 from Tokyo Drift. I know it’s not everyone’s favorite car since it got converted from AWD to RWD but as a fan of your videos and the car, I’d definitely be interested in the story behind it.
The bodykit was always an interesting one with the Koenigsegg-esque fixed headlights, do VeilSide still make it? (Do they make any of the old, iconic bodykits anymore, for that matter?)
Fun fact about you mentioning the koenigsegg. I worked at the factory, according to the "OG's" working there, the early Koenigseggs (CCR especially) had BIG problems with those headlights, always leaking and having moisture problems.
Its hard to imagine 00s stuff is vintage now. I feel old lol. To hear somebody say "back then" or " at the time" when referring to something from 04/05 is kind of funny.
I remember when I got my first phone with a camera and watched the movie with my phone ready to take pictures of Hans RX7 for my wallpaper. It’s a timeless car 😍
The first time i watched tokyo drift when i was a kid i guessed han's car is a mazda rx-7(that was back when i dont know much about cars)and guess what? I was apperently right
Seeing how many people treat Rotaries like normal engines, it probably DID have about 350hp until they flooded, cold revved and whatever other hellish things they could've done. If you abuse a rotary that way, they lose power and die FAST
Hands down this was the best movie ever and this car is the best portrayal of what an iconic movie car should look like and Han is my favourite character from the movie let’s say top 2 💕🔥
I’m my opinion, Tokyo drift was the best fast and furious tuner wise.
You mean tuner wise, but fast and furious will always be number one, when Tokyo drift came out you knew nothing of drifting in America
Nah, FF1 is definitely the best. I’d agree TD was a close second though.
for being the best according to you it made the least amount of money at box office so no it's the worst boi
Nismo Cash That literally means nothing considering tuners lmao. Dumbass kid
Ya the beginning is great where they are in the new development.
Han’s Rx-7 was one the best looking cars in the movie! Well done Veilside 🔥
Among the best of the entire series, for me
well they won a award... but not a nice kit to own...
One of the greatest cars in any movie

Ever heard of the rare 100 GTUs rx7s? Only 40 have ever been claimed and only 7 are confirmed at the time of this posting! Here are the rarest rx7 FC3S models:
1500 10AE Turbo models
1400 infini
1000 winning limited
150 final edition convertible
100 GTUs...
out of that 100:

I’m surprised by how well the body kit has aged in comparison to other car customizations in the early 2000s.
Agree, shit's clean
Aesthetic AF
ReAmemiya is still better
i can’t agree from the side angle it looks bunk imo but i loved it as a kid
I just had this thought : If they had made a spinoff of Han & Brian after Tokyo Drift it would've been the coolest movie ever for car guys.
Yeah exactly, wouldve been way better than this "hobbs and shaw" movie where its just a constant ego dick fight and shitty script.
Paul was right up there too, he comes from my neighborhood SUNLAND!!!!!
Han's RX7 and its kit was downright iconic, that Veilside kit will forever go down in history as one of the coolest things ever.

That seen outside the bath house. The orange just popped against the dull background
