I've got chills reading all your comments. Filipina here. It is true that some filipina are looking for foreigners to get out their family in poverty,but that is not the case all the times. Many had been cheated on or left 'cause they chose Filipinas who are uneducated and have the idea of marrying a foreigner for "greener pasteur" . Once these women get something from you and fall out of love; one day you'll just end up broken and look for someone within their "age range". I've seen and heard unending stories about this case. Even my students have these perception that marrying a foreigner means "saving your whole family in poverty" . A sad reality but this stereotyping will live through years. All I can say is, find a woman who is well-educated, who's earning a living, has a good demeanor, and family-oriented. Never settle to those who can give you good sex. These apply to all, not just to Filipino women.
In many cases that's true but that's only when we're in the Philippines which is about once a year so I can tolerate it for the short time. Not all are like that.

So true and I’ve witnessed it with my own eyes. I had a friend who turned into Scarface when he had like 5 grand lol. I had a close group of friends and once money got involved we all started arguing and almost fist fighting. I knew it would happen because I know how a few of them were with money. Very cheap and greedy, once they realized I had more money they turned on me lol. One of them ended up stealing about 1200 bucks from me and disappeared. The day I see him, he’s going to regret what he did. One thing I hate is thieves, and ESPECIALLY sneaky thieves who steal from family and friends. He was so paranoid about it he basically gave himself up. At first I just couldn’t believe he stole but he’s so dumb he basically confirmed it. I’m going to break his nose so bad and steal his car, until he pays me back with interest he’s not getting his car back. If someone owes you money just take their phone, car or even car keys. Another thing you can do is act like your going to show up to their job. Nobody wants to get embarrassed in front of their boss or employees.

I have a very high opinion of Filipinas and Philipino people in general. I had a very serious Filipina girlfriend in the mid-70's while was in the Marines. She was fantastic. Warm, nurturing, great cook, fun and very sexy. Cukturally, they are ver friendly and easy going people in grneral. I was very young and nit at the time ready to get married, unfirtunately. As a Filipino, this is a red light district. There are beautiful resorts but I understand why you don’t want to come here. Lots of the Philippines are poor, and undermaintained. The resorts are nice though along the beach.
I wish you could show other Filipinas who are educated, family-oriented, not into wearing skimpy clothes, not a face full of makeup, and who are living modestly. :) Honestly, there are still many high value women (not just Filipinas) who are fervently praying to meet nice and genuine men. Some of them are just preoccupied in becoming more productive and would rather be the best versions of themselves instead of talking to random men and be desperate for attention or validation.

I think Thailand is so much better and not as many gold diggers that want you to support all of their relatives. Plus Thai people are much friendlier and the Country is more organized and cleaner. But each to his own the way I see it.
I have eaten a lot of Filipino food and I do like some of it but over all I like Thai food so much more. The spices are just so much better. But I understand that we each have our own likes and dislikes. I have also eaten a lot of Japanese food and liked it but the same problem was a lack of spice for me. Living in Makati here. I once saw a condemnable scene in the grocery store where a foreigner was with a Filipina -- and her MOM was doing the shopping. The mom was just grabbing almost everything on sight looking at the foreigner occasionally to ask if he's OK to buy this and that. But she isn't waiting for a clear answer from the foreigner and just throws it right in the cart.
As a Filipina, I would say we are the best if you are looking for a traditional woman. You can agree or disagree, but we love to spoil our men by cooking them meals and caring for them. We even cut our men’s nails if we see them getting longer. 😊

When you as a foreigner wants to marry a Filipina, would you just marry her without first tackling the issue with her? It's SIMPLY A YES OR NO on the part of the foreigner. No gun is gonna be pointed to the head of the foreigner to support the Filipina's family. No Philippine law is gonna arrest or indict a foreigner who will not support his wife's family. IF A FOREIGNER SUPPORTS THE FILIPINA'S FAMILY, IT IS ALL BECAUSE HE CHOSE TO SUPPORT HER FAMILY. The idea is that he won’t find out until he is hooked. Then if he reneges on supporting her family, she will withhold sex… and so it begins. I have no problem with it: afaik, there is no social security in the Phillipines or in Thailand, so those countries’ people expect the married couple to support their older relatives. It makes sense, otherwise they’ll die. Also shows why they have large families (usually a burden) and why both countries are probably so populous.

There is no major difference between Filipina woman and other women. Their culture is more open minded then western countries that enables them to mate with almost any type of man.
I hate when people make generalizations about an entire group of people. I know lots of Filipinos, both from America and the country itself. I know some that are dirt poor and some that are rich even by western standards. Overall, they have a great many warm-hearted, family-oriented people in their nation. When you get in the big cities, you are more likely to encounter some of the same relationship problems that you would have in any other metropolis. Provincial people are much more traditional.

As an American that's dated German, Russia, LOTS of fellow American girls, and currently about to marry a Filipina, I can confirm: They are the best. In addition to beauty, they have family morals and take marriage far more seriously in their culture. Nothing will convince me otherwise. They grow up listening to American music, watching American movies and absorbing general western culture. Makes them a lot more easier to understand and vice verse than Thai, Chinese, Koreans, Japanese etc.. My personal take is that the Philippines have women of greater physical variety. Some look Malay, mixed or Hispanic. The other Asians just all look Oriental, with no variety.
My first responsibilities go to my wife and kids. Once you leave the nest your responsibilities go to your new family. Not all filipina parents expect to be supported by their children

So true and I’ve witnessed it with my own eyes. I had a friend who turned into Scarface when he had like 5 grand lol. Very cheap and greedy, once they realized I had more money they turned on me lol. One of them ended up stealing about 1200 bucks from me and disappeared. He was so paranoid about it he basically gave himself up. At first I just couldn’t believe he stole but he’s so dumb he basically confirmed it. I’m going to break his nose so bad and steal his car, until he pays me back with interest he’s not getting his car back. If someone owes you money just take their phone, car or even car keys. Another thing you can do is act like your going to show up to their job. Nobody wants to get embarrassed in front of their boss or employees.

As a Filipino, this is a red light district. There are beautiful resorts but I understand why you don’t want to come here. Lots of the Philippines are poor, and undermaintained. The resorts are nice though along the beach.

Living in Makati here. I once saw a condemnable scene in the grocery store where a foreigner was with a Filipina -- and her MOM was doing the shopping. The mom was just grabbing almost everything on sight looking at the foreigner occasionally to ask if he's OK to buy this and that. But she isn't waiting for a clear answer from the foreigner and just throws it right in the cart.

I have no problem with it: afaik, there is no social security in the Phillipines or in Thailand, so those countries’ people expect the married couple to support their older relatives. It makes sense, otherwise they’ll die. Also shows why they have large families (usually a burden) and why both countries are probably so populous.

That's debatable, a Puerto Rican friend married a Filipina in the US turns out she was cheating with someone for years from the Philippines.
There is no major difference between Filipina woman and other women. Their culture is more open minded then western countries that enables them to mate with almost any type of man.
That is also why their trad values erode more quickly even whilst living in country.
I hate when people make generalizations about an entire group of people. I know lots of Filipinos, both from America and the country itself. I know some that are dirt poor and some that are rich even by western standards. Overall, they have a great many warm-hearted, family-oriented people in their nation. When you get in the big cities, you are more likely to encounter some of the same relationship problems that you would have in any other metropolis. Provincial people are much more traditional.

There are of course certain traits that are more common among males than there are among females, and vice versa. I also agree that you will more likely find certain cultural traits in some countries than you will in others. The intent of my original post was to give a broader view of Filipinos in general, and Filipinas in particular. I’m not ignoring the truth that the nation has its share of “gold diggers.” I’m just trying to give a more balanced view of the country as a whole. As an American that's dated German, Russia, LOTS of fellow American girls, and currently about to marry a Filipina, I can confirm: They are the best. In addition to beauty, they have family morals and take marriage far more seriously in their culture. Nothing will convince me otherwise. And unlike American women, most of them didn't ask me about my MONEY while dating. US girls...well, there's a reason passport bros exist.

The reason most of us go to the Philippines is the women speak English otherwise theor are other Asian countries with more attractive and interesting women.
Yeah, some of the Thais look good (but a lot of them do not) and the Japanese too, but their English is poor afaik, so it’s a major reason I am looking at the Phillipines, despite it being a bit scary with the guns and reports of kidnapping, the poverty. I want to be able to communicate.

They grow up listening to American music, watching American movies and absorbing general western culture. Makes them a lot more easier to understand and vice verse than Thai, Chinese, Koreans, Japanese etc.. My personal take is that the Philippines have women of greater physical variety. Some look Malay, mixed or Hispanic. The other Asians just all look Oriental, with no variety.

I’ve dated Filipinos but found many wasn’t marriage material because I find out later they were single with kids or they wasn’t educated and very poor. Also many are materialistic and might want you only for a visa/green card etc
Lack of education and/or poverty isn’t a deal breaker for me. Kids are, at least if she was hiding that. If they have a kid not living with them, then they are with the father, almost certainly her husband. Divorce is extremely hard to get in the Phillipines. With the ‘uneducated / poor’ thing, I guess you’re worried about them wanting to leach off you?

When you marry a Filipina or pinoy, you are getting the whole package... Family is EVERTHING to us... Christmas season starts in September... For us it is an honor to help our parents. In my family we hassled over who Dad (in his last years) would live with, knowing that it would be a tough 24/7 responsibility. Ans still we tried to outbid each other.. Unlike other cultures, we're not about to dump OUR parents in a retirement home... When you find someone as dedicated to make your marriage and family work, as a Filipina or Filipino, consider yourself among the luckiest people in the world....
