I discovered Halo via the MCC, about 2 years ago, and I played through all the campaigns, including Infinite. Up until about 3 months ago, I had never played competitive online shooters at all, but I decided to give it a shot with Infinite since I was familiar with the mechanics from playing those campaigns. I'm glad I did, now I grind ranked almost every day and have people from all over the world that I game with regularly, which is pretty cool.

The lack of content is definitely what pushed me away from the game, the day they announced season 2 would be 6 months longer than it already was, I stopped playing. I still payed attention to the game however and watched the winter update role out and eventually season 3, played the events in season 3 but not more than that. Now I’ve been playing season 4 so much I don’t think I’ve put the game down since S4 started which is surprising to me. Halo Infinite is currently really good and I hope it does make a come back at some point. The leadership change was for the best, wish the old leads the best but I’m happy they are gone. This game is doing great right now and I hope it only gets better

About that, season 2 was never extended 6 months, season 3 was only pushed back 4 months, season 2 still ended after the original 6 months and its battlepass got vaulted, the 4 month gap was filled with the winter update season, it had everything season 3 was going to have except the battle pass, it's story, and the DMR, everything else still released with a mini 30 tier free battlepass.

If season 5 is firefight like its believed to be then the game will be content complete and we can just look forward to new modes.
Personally i like the cores having unique looks, armour pieces and helmets. In season 4 every coating can be unlocked for every core or if purchased is for every core, that to me is the most important part. My most wanted feature would be a locker room for presets of the same core.

I'm glad you brought up aiming on controller, because not a lot of people do, and it's been an issue I've noticed with the game since launch. Compared to the MCC, aiming on controller feels kinda bad. I've tried messing around with the settings to find something that works, but even on the best settings for me, it still doesn't feel right. I know that 343 made changes to KBM aiming, and the players that use that seem to enjoy how the game feels now, so I hope they work on controller aiming soon. I think the only other thing I would add to this video and the list of things that still need work is the matchmaking system. Games are rarely, if ever, close. Games usually end with one team completely dominating the other. I can't remember the last time I played a match in Infinite that was relatively close in score. Also, spawn killing can be pretty rough in BTB (even Squad Battle) especially if the map has Wasps on it. I'm not sure if that issue would be fixed with more balanced matchmaking, or if the Wasp is the problem. In H3, the Hornet in MP doesn't have missiles like it's SP counterpart, so maybe doing something similar with the Wasp could make it feel more balanced.

I played Halo since the release of CE back in 2001. I took a brief hiatus during H4 and H5 while my family was growing, and my kids were very small and needed us constantly. I played Infinite since day one of launch. It is my favorite Halo, in spite of its many issues. The gameplay has improved dramatically since launch, and the content has expanded significantly. The desync and other network/latency issues are quite irksome. I think first and foremost I do need to make one correction: There IS friendly fire. It is however, exclusive to ranked. I feel this is appropriate. Social lobbies are a very broad spectrum of players, including children just getting their feet wet. I don't think they would have fun if every time they got into a firefight they got shredded by some other kid's team nade. And I know I would get pretty annoyed by it. Ranked is where people are more strictly held accountable for their actions, and punished more severely for errors.
The single biggest issue I have with this game (again, this is specifically for ranked), is because they made it free-to-play, it is saturated with Smurfs and boosters. It is extremely frustrating, queueing into your skill's lobbies, and getting shredded by someone who is of a way higher rank, boosting off their buddy's Smurf account that is showing a much lower rank, but is obviously a much, much higher rank. It is much more easy to identify now with career rank. When you're in a Platinum 5 lobby with a Diamond 5 and a Gold 3 that went like 5.5 K/D, and that Gold 3 has a career rank of Bronze Cadet, and you spent the last three days sliding from Diamond 1 to Platinum 3, it makes you want to uninstall.
I still love it though overall. And I have my better days where I am climbing. They make the not so great days tolerable.

Honestly, with 343 taking over at Halo Reach, I had a good outlook for what they could do. To this day, Reach had some of the best moments in Halo. But also had some of the worst multiplayer balancing. Then we got Halo 4 and it just started going down hill. Why could they not keep the same engine they used in Reach/Halo 3? It was better. Adding all this extra stuff and new weapons with new abilities, it convoluted the balance of the whole game. Even MCC has this issue with the excess of stuff that’s not needed.

mhm!! Pierre Hintze, the guy who fixed MCC, is now leading the charge for improving Halo Infinite. It's a big task given the mess he inherited, but even in the short months he's been in charge there has been a massive growth. Also, there are rehires for animators and other more developer/engineering roles to contribute.
The development of Infinite was beyond cursed, with factions within the organization, gross mismanagement, Microsoft making them use 18 month contractors to build and use a new and proprietary engine which greatly diminished effectiveness, and the old 343 leadership being crunched to make Infinite for the upcoming Xbox console at the time. The "Craig Reveal" and other aspects of the demo, asking for a year extension, Joe Staten contributing to trying to get the game "launchable" it was crazy they even got it out of the gate. Although other Micorosft/Xbox titles are forced to use Micorsoft Azure for their servers, Infinite and its rushed Slipspace engine had issues, which is why players in Oceania and regions outside of North America have more pronounced desync because of their own ping to the servers and the way Slipspace handles hit reg and lag correction.

I mean, the content that was added that was "missing", is better than what came before as well. It's not just, finally getting the same content we've always had. Forge and the custom games browser for example are elevated to absolutely new heights for the series. The sandbox balance is spectacular and every new sandbox item has been nigh flawlessly implemented. The brand new modes never before in halo, have all been wonderful as well. (Hope we get last spartan standing again soon).
Or the hundreds and hundreds of free cosmetics since launch? There has now, officially, been more free customization given to players than all of bungies paid halo games combined.
They've done a lot, and a lot more is coming, and if this trend continues, at its best.

It's for spectating teammates. I want to look at my spartan's drip tho, that's why I like Armor Lock bc it's funny and I get to take screenshots

I fully agree with you (all of it, mcc is still superior), alot of people just like to shit on everything 343 has done, yes they done alot and i mean alot of bad but they have done some good things aswell, and now that kiki wolfkill, bonnie ross etc are gone and hopefully the hireing freeze gets slowly lifted infinite will start to shine
In terms of sequels i do strongly really strongly believe that if they dont nail the next installment of the franchise that its pretty much a dead franchise, infinite is coming out of its coma so to say as we speak

For me the gameplay was also a problem, not just the content. Halo Infinite feels like a step backward from Halo 5.

My core friends all love Halo and I'd say 80% of them will never return. I think if 343 leans into nostalgia baiting like they're starting to do, we may actually see the numbers go up a bit. They should really add a throwback arena playlist with a bunch of golden era Halo maps the way they did for Squad Battle, and they should actually remake a classic map using their assets rather than forge so its not all inferior ugly versions of beloved maps. They also should theme the next pass with classic armors and cosmetics fans are aching for. I don't get why they persist in adding the ugliest out of left field armor cores when the game is dying. We should get a MK VI core with Halo 3 armors which we have never seen get brought back. It's always the Reach versions that return, never H3. I think a return of Firefight, Warzone, and/or Invasion would boost the game a bit too. They also NEED to have individual items in the store instead of these 1700+ credit bundles full of garbage.
As I look at all that, I just know that would keep me playing fs, but it will never be enough to crank the numbers back to where the game was when it launched.

My biggest criticism for Infinite is having to buy a stupid season pass in order to actually customize your spartan. I already paid 60 bucks for a half assed campaign and you can’t even give me armor selections. I played it for 2 weeks when it came out and i haven’t come back.

You only have to pay for the battle pass one time. Each battle pass gives you 1000 credits so if you grind through, you can use those 1000 credits to unlock the next battle pass and so on. So for $10 you get a lifetime of premium battle pass options.
But if you absolutely didn't want to spend $10 on the game, then you still get all the free options as well as the numerous free event passes they drop every season. The amount of free content is pretty insane and significantly more fair than other free to play games on the market.

It's a F2P game my man, you're going to have to give a little. Like the guy above me said, once you pay for one pass you can store the credits earned and use that for the next pass. So if you're smart you only ever have to pay for one which is like $8, that's a pretty good deal.

On top of what the guys said above, there are also free items on the main battle pass usually at least one Helmet and Shoulders for MkVII and whatever the new core is. So in a way you have to "earn it"

Every battle pass has free cosmetic items for your spartan. And right now there's an all-free event pass. And another 30-tier pass that's all free. And free weekly rewards. I spent $0 on Halo Infinite for a long time and had several very custom spartans

There's a vast difference between praise and appreciation, you know
You don't just praise someone for fixing the problem they've caused however neither do you stay negative when they do fix their problems.

They need to fix the appeal system for bans. I got banned for no reason and they permanently banned me stating I cheated when I never cheat and I've played halo since the 1st Xbox. They don't give enough opportunity to defend your case. How can I cheat on a series x because I don't know.
