I , too, am watching the ground situation as far as voter aspirations are concerned. I agree with your assessment that there is some kind of fatigue on the ground. Whereas, as usual, BJP has hit the ground with the agenda of a developed India with a muscular India which can carry its weight in the comity of nations and can command the following of other countries, Congress and its allies have gone to voters with its usual freebies. So, both the narratives are time- worn coming as they are from discernible political factions. Nothing new there. Both the contenders have stuck to their time-worn narratives. There are certain social programs which both the factions could have made their election planks.First, social security, if not declared as an immediate objective, the parties or more aptly the contending factions could have laid down a glide path to it to achieve at some point of time in five years. It would have been a very useful reform. MNERGA or NAREGA ( as the young leader of Congress once named it ) is not all embracing social security program as it leaves out the middle class and the small time business men. Second, a comprehensive medicare for the whole country for all age groups. I myself am a middle class mid sixties retiree who was refused a floater mediclaim policy because my wife had a pre existing medical condition ( which no longer exists now) . Third, free unversal, qualitative education for all strata of society upto class 12. Fourth, judicial reform to ensure time- bound delivery of verdicts especially in lower courts and high courts. Fifth, and a very important one at that , is nutrition security for all. Our Government is just providing carbs to masses ( as wheat and rice primarily and some lentils and pulses here and there) in the name food security. Nutrition should cover all aspects of health and food ingredients must be provided from PDS to cater to this minimum level of nutrition.
Whatever else the contending political factions have laid down in their manifestos can only be achieved if there is glide path laid down for these five reforms. The voter fatigue that you primarily recognized on ground was basically because of the usual run- of-the mill political narratives by the contending factions. Voter does not find anything for himself or herself in the manifestos of the parties in the fray. But, as a dispassionate, onlooker, I find that Prime Minister ,Narendra Modi, still commands respect and following among masses, irrespective of their ideologies. The country has become more aspirational rather than be survivalist ( which used to be the case ten years back). Overall, I find that BJP has a great chance of forming the next Government, though not with 400 or so members of Parliament but with 330 or so MPs. Every young person, I spoke to , simply dismissed the idea of Rahul Gandhi as the next PM. Just my assessment, Mr. Sardesai. Both of us could be proved wrong on June 3rd 2024.
Let us wait for the choice of people.

I am retired, permanently settled with nice pretty looking voter ID card and have nothing better to do than vote, but unable to vote due to inability to locate voting booth. Even visit to election office here has not helped. BJP has not explained why they were not prepared in Covid 2nd wave. Rather, they were doing media management and concentrating on WB elections instead of putting better systems and improving health care. It is a fairly realistic assessment, very close to what I feel. The reason for pessimism about possible change is bonded labour mentality of many a leader in Congress. Rahul has not been able to infuse a sense of optimism.

I can proudly say that, only because of 60% of the reservation (OBC) helped to bring everyone from poor to middle class. So, I can say only through reservation of 60% u can get the equal growth otherwise only UPPER caste Hindus moving ahead. Rajdeep analysis is right. There is some anti incumbency and dissatisfaction among people no doubt. But the situation during congress regime is no better.
2. Whether the opposition is really having any narrative except hate modi?
3. Whether these kichadi alliance could really give a stable government considering the past history?
4. Whether the opposition leaders really have any credibility considering their own record of governance in states?
5. Whether Rahul is really a serious politician ? His sudden talk of caste census redistribution of wealth etc is credible since 10 years of UPA rule he never bothered to raise these issues?
5. Whether congress is really a secular party giving equal respect to all religions is questionable considering its past records?
6. While 95 percent of one section of people vote just to stop bjp on religious basis without considering economic and development issues can be a secular stand?
7. If so some 30 or 40 percent of other group vote on religious basis without considering economic issues also is secular only. Polarisation by one side is bound to result in counter polarisation.
8. Which parties in the opposition never had an alliance with bjp and enjoyed power to believe they won’t ally with bjp again for better bargaining.
9. The political fight here is not on any principles or credibility rather for power and positions.
Hence common men worry about daily issues and coupled with some emotive issues and vote on his assessment who could govern better and atleast could give a stable government under the given situation . But Modi as a leader though has a credibility than any other leader the fatigue and the anti incumbency will result in decrease of considerable seats for bjp but still may come back to power with simple majority and a strong opposition.

Good analysis. I believe BJP has lost credibility as a result of welcoming all corrupt people into their party, & also the ED raids being selective only on the opposition. They can no longer claim to be the corruption free party anymore. Add to this the electoral bonds fiasco, religious divide, unemployment and price rice, the BJP is no longer a party of choice. It is just that there is no alternative and people go with BJP just bcoz of national security & safety and for having improved the image of India globally.

Electoral bond are normal. Every political party name is there. Even congress having government in 3 states has recieved 1600 crores of electoral bond. TMC recieved 1500+ crore of electoral bond when it has government in only one state. When a party is in majority of states and in central they will surely get more electoral bond than others.
@@vedantjha4520 The difference is that ED, Income Tax department, SEBI, customs and Industry Tax and GST tax calculations are with BJP. BJP brought these laws, they modified it. Also, SC think it is NOT alright and it has quashed it.
@@rajeevsharma3037 But this has been going on since ages. Who has been in power have control on all these agencies let it be Congress, BJP or any other political party. I actually don't support as such any one political party as I think that all are same like two different sides of same coin.
