  • Owen Anderson, from Newcastle, had two trucks on display: - a 1986 Kenworth SAR, and a 1989 V8 Value-Liner.
The 1986 Kenworth SAR is powered by a 400 Cummins engine, a 15-speed Roadranger, and SP40 diffs. The truck used to pull a crane trailer but has been semi-retired and now does casual work. It was previously owned by Finnemore’s and used to tow a fuel tanker. It then moved to Brisbane as a fridge van before returning to the Hunter Valley as a coal truck. Owen bought it 20 years ago to tow an pivot tanker. After a few years, he transitioned into the crane truck business, which he still operates today. The truck is mostly original, with a new coat of paint and a rebuilt motor. It has traveled around four or five million kilometers and has been a reliable workhorse for Owen, significantly contributing to his success.
The 1989 V8 V Liner was previously owned by Paul Harrison of Newcastle. Owen initially went to buy a trailer, but ended up buying the truck as well. The truck was originally a day cab, but Owen added a sleeper found in a shed, repainted it, and tidied it up. It has a 400hp V8 and a 12-speed MacK box. Although it was expensive to restore, Owen doesn’t use it for work. It is mostly kept in the shed, taken to truck shows, or used for occasional drives. However, it is kept on full registration in case it is ever needed for work.
