Hello Friends! Welcome back to another beautiful day in the garden! Todays episode is a bit different. My Husband of Awesomeness had a complicated Total Knee Replacement surgery a couple of weeks ago, and it is still difficult for him to walk to the studio.. so I am shooting this video alone tonight. I thank you for your patience and understanding. HoA will resume shooting the videos as soon as he is able. Tonight, its just me and three cameras! Lets get started!
The last video, When Doves Fly, was a straight pour on a paynes gray background, using a new to me color, Goldens Iridescent Stainless Steel. I really enjoyed that pour, but I made one error.. instead of pouring my cup and then using a flow extender, I put down a basecoat. Doing that resulted in too much paint on the canvas, and ended up stretching the design more than I wanted and losing the negative space I wanted. Tonight I want to use those same colors but use a flow extender instead of a basecoat and see if we get a better result.

in Any of My Paint.
I have removed the Greenish Blue from my colors tonight, as I really want to see the paynes grey play with the Stainless Steel and the Pearl.
I am repurposing a 20x20 inch gallery wrapped canvas from Artists Loft.
I'm using a 6 chamber 16 ounce split cup.
I have a tub of thinned out Paynes Grey to use as my flow extender. I layer my split cup and then pour it into a puddle of the Paynes Gray. After some tilting I don't really love the composition so add a little more paint to my split cup and pour the ring pour again. I tilt out that ring and play a bit to get the composition I want. I love the contrast between the Paynes Grey and the Stainless Steel. Using the Aquamarine brightened up some areas of this piece, but I really love the contrast between the White and Paynes... gorgeous!

It reminds me of abalone shell! I bet with some pinks and more greens, you could totally get the full effect of abalone out of that steel and pearl! Absolutely stunning!
What is so funny is that when I brought iy outside to shoot the outro I put it under one of the red umbrellas on our patio.. and then looked at it become it looked pinkish! The umbrella was reflected in the pour, lol it looked very cool actually! I am definitely going to play with the Stainless Steel more, with some colors. Thanks for the suggestion! ❤

First and last dismounts were both a perfect 10!! Yay!! It’s a very calming piece. Though we miss HOA, he is doing the right thing by taking care of that knee. In our prayers.

Wow, Mina, this is really cool! As always, I love your colors and the resultant composition is beautiful! I am surprised the FA Aquamarine was so vibrant when wet and more subdued once dried. And yet it accents the dried composition well. I love how the blue in the Payne’s Gray really showed in this pour and those beautiful MIX lines! Thanks so much for sharing this with us! I know you missed the shared experience you and HOA enjoy but, from the viewer perspective, you did just fine with the three cameras. Knee replacements are tough to recover from and I am glad to hear that he is doing well and working hard. He will be back in the studio with you before you know it! What a beautiful pour! I love the contrast. As far as the fluid art experience I am sad to say I won’t be able to go because I will be recovering from a hip replacement. I wish you all great success and I hope there will be another opportunity in the near future. For me, this collection of artists is my favorite; I greatly admire all the work you all do and would relish the opportunity to learn from you in person!

Mina , my sweet artist, I love the steal color it makes some truly amazing pours , the wide ribbons have been making a gorgeous statement in your painting .The wide ribbons have been so stunning ribbing across the canvas, with the negative space it’s allowing your composition a chance to make a huge statement in your pour weather it’s centered or leaving space to either side, leaving that beautiful color choice for background has been giving your composition a chance to really make a huge stunning statement to your painting , keep pouring them you giving yourself a chance of making so many more paintings that scream from leaving that little space . When I see that number two cup I know something better is about to happen because Mina is not gonna let her paints be the boss of her painting. I wish I could come to some of your classes so if you ever decide to do any in the bay area please come. Mina you had me in tears laughing with the first pour. All I’m gonna say is the first center you took off, I saw it as a mans bellybutton and he had like an 8 pack under that… and well I’m sure you’ll see the rest. One of my favorites...
I came in late... again... I can't remember friday. I love how different this is. The iridescent stainless steel changes the effect and seems to enhance the depth of the lines. It really is stunning. I kept seeing a Gecko eye and face in the center. A beautiful painting Mina. You and your three cameras did an amazing job and HoA, (though definitely missed) is where he should be to heal well.
