The Handwritten Bible Update & Tracing Method Demonstration

- Hi everyone!
I haven't had a chance to post many videos the past few months so I figured I would give you an update on my progress and demonstrate the tracing method I've been using lately.
Writing out the Bible has been one of the most transformative exercises I have ever done. I am tuned in to God's Word and seeing things I have never seen before. The process of writing out the Bible really slows you down where you can pay attention to the small and subtle details.
I've created several 2-column templates with the Dekko handwritten font. Message me if you would like a copy or need help creating your own.
Completed templates: Exodus, Galatians, Daniel, John, Jude, Acts (In progress).

Hi, I'm going through a spiritual depression stage now. I don't know how to get out of this state. Today I saw a watsapp status about one of my distant relative completed her handwritten Bible. I think I must try this out. So I started searching about the details and experiences about writing Holy Bible by hand, and finally I reached here.
Anyway I'm from Kerala, India. I'm planning to write in my mother tongue, Malayalam. I know this is not like the usual plannings of doing something. This is purely spiritual. So I'm requesting for your prayers.. inorder to complete my writing and overcoming my battle stage 🙏

Very Instructive Video. Good to Handwrite 4 Different versions of Bibles: KJV, Nkjv, ESV & NIV. Don't use smudgy felt pens, use green, red or black ink ball point pens or 0.5mm Mechanical Pencil Lead Type: 2B or 4B Etc. Tracing Paper used can variable type as per country of Residence or Travel. I'm starting tonight. I think I'll do Matthew first (it has a special place in my heart since that's the first book of the bible that I ever read, and it seems fitting that I should begin writing there) and once that's done I might jump back to the OT or go onto Mark.

Deuteronomy 17:18-20
18 And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites:
19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:
20 That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.
What a blessing that this video popped up. I’ve been wanting to do this and just didn’t know how to accomplish it. I’m not too tech savvy but I would love to know how to format the Bible to be able to do this . Do you have tutorials on that process? What website do you use for the Bible itself? I hope I don’t sound completely ignorant with these questions.

Hi, I have been feeling like this is something I need to do. I’ve written a scripture writing plan before but the idea of writing the Bible as a whole is so much bigger!

Thank you for your kind words. I format my templates by copying the scripture from biblegateway.com and pasting the text into a 2-column Word document. I then change the font of the text with a handwritten-style that is similar to my native handwriting style (Dekko). Hope that helps.

May I have a copy of John and Acts?
My handwriting is decent until I get to about fifty words, then it turns slowly into resembling a dumpster fire. Like most today, there is very little reason for me to hand write anything. I’m considering creating my own font of some of my better handwriting, and then use your template to transcribe the Bible. It’ll be my handwriting, and should quickly improve to the point where templates might not be needed. And I might start writing other stuff again. Ha!
That’s a great idea @David Guenthner. I’ve seen sites that help you create your own font using scans of your upper and lowercase letters and numbers. What you’ve described would definitely get you past your 50 word break point and force you to stay consistent.
I hope you do endeavor to start writing out the Bible this year and would enjoy learning of your progress. I recommend starting with a very short book so that you can get a “win” under your belt and get a sense of what a finished piece will look like.

You only wrote on the front side, not front and back of the one sheet? So, inspiring, I’m intrigued to the point I need to know more and your technique is beautifully done. How do you write on the back side of the paper? 🤔
Hi @Mah_Sh_ell . Thank you for your message. I only write on one side of each sheet so that the page can be cleanly copied. If you write on both sides, the ink can bleed through or shadow the page. I suspect if the paper was thick enough, you could get away with writing on both sides. Let me know if you have any other questions. -Rob
I’m comfortable doing it that way as well, I was thinking about how to print when I’m done to give a copy to both my kids. It’s gonna be massive. I love your entire method. Thank you for sharing especially step by step… I’m going to start this journey Monday… blessings to you 🙏

I don't use anything fancy. Just a Ultra-Fine Point Sharpie available at most retailers and office supply stores.

What version of the Bible are you using?
King James Version.
How do you do this without breaking copyright laws? I wonder if the Message Bible has a verse by verse version…
@davidrossman919, while there may be some modern translations of the Bible that fall under Copyright protection, the KJV, published in 1611, is decidedly not copyright protected.
Where did you get your tracing paper from?
I get my tracing paper from Staples. It’s 100% rag chiffon vellum paper and sold in 50-sheet reams.

Hi @alirubaii4839 . I use vinyl sheet protectors and 3-ring binders. I use several different size binders, depending on whether the book written is long or short.
Where did you find the entire Bible that allowed you to change the font so you could easily trace it? Did you cut and paste into Word from a special website?
@mfadaa, I copied individual chapters from the KJV and pasted them into a Word document. I then formatted the document for two columns and changed the font to Dekko (free Google font). I’m happy to share any/all of the templates I’ve created. Thanks, Rob
@@hixvideo could you make a step by step video on demonstrating your method on how you create that format in word. I have tried but have become frustrated because it doesn’t look like your layout or the actual Bibles layout. Here is a video suggestion that you could possibly do.
@@HerBlackJewel thank you for the video suggestion. I will see if I can put together a screen share video that demonstrates the formatting. That said, don’t get trapped in the process. Just write! The real joy comes from the time spent engaging with God’s Word. Your handwriting is unique to you but the Word is unique to God:)

Oh my goodness, i came upon this as i was looking for Scripture writing/ Bible journaling. I never knew anyone would try to write the Bible. I do t mean this to be critical at all, but why would one write the entire Bible when it is already written in book form? Just curious. Im hoping to write Scripture verses based on themes. I find your idea so fascinating. Your video was intriguing and you explained it so well.

For 2023, I want to handwrite the Bible. I don’t know if I want to use loose leaf, a notebook, or if I want to buy an interleaved and write it in there.
Hi @Sam Da Costa. Thanks for the note. I’ve done notebooks and loose leaf. The reason I switched to vellum paper was so I could have a clean copy that could be copied. I have 3 kids and want to give each a copy. I cover the tracing method in this video and have a link to the Staples vellum paper I use in the description.

You must be really bored. So many useful things you could do with your time and you choose this. Religion is such a terrible thing.
