    I’ve accidentally „met“ Sly and his Band. I bought a Naruto game from an flea market nearby., I was so excited during the drive back home. Arrived home, ran as fast as I could to my room, put on the PS2 , opened the case and found the CD of Sly 3.
    I was so shocked and sad at the same time. My older brother came in to play, but left when he found out about the wrong CD. I literally didn’t touch it for 2/3 days.
    But then, out of curiosity and probably boredom I’ve told myself, let’s try it, it’s here now anyway.
    The rest is history. From that moment on I fell in love with the man himself and the whole crew. It’s a bond I can’t explain, it brings me back in time to very fond memories.

    This was my very first official Sly Cooper game I ever played on PS2. I bought a brand new NTSC copy of Sly Cooper a year ago or two, since I wouldn't have taken the game seriously with a name like Sly Racoon, darn Europe and their censorship. But anyways, I was glad to play and beat this game, most of my deaths were more geared towards me trying to get all the clue bottles, which was pretty frustrating, not gonna lie. But the game was still fun. I just recently purchased Sly 2 for the PS2 on EBay, currently waiting for the game to arrive on July, since I live in Europe and USA is pretty far away from it. I only played demo's of Sly Cooper games, but I was happy that I finally got to experience a full Sly Cooper game. Sly Cooper is very underrated.

The console was a birthday/Christmas gift from my dad since I am born at Christmas Eve, I don't know where he found a PS2 console that could read both European & American versions of games, but I ain't complaining. Sly Cooper was an amazing series to grow up with. I accidentally discovered it one summer. My neighbor had it for the PS2 along with Spyro. It was too hot to play outside and we started pkaying games in her basement, it was her older brother's console but he let us play the less intense games (we were like 7-8 years old and he was like 17)- thought it was amazing. That was the year that Simpsons Hit n Run came out and my dad thought it looked hilarious which prompted my mom to get my dad a PS2 for Christmas. After the holidays, my dad wanted more games and i suggested Sly and Spyro. And that was a massive turning point for me and my brother. My dad worked a lot and didnt spend too much time with us but as soon as we started getting games, our relationship just exploded. We'd sit down on Fridays and Saturdays and watch my dad play games for hours. It was fantastic. We spent a few years like that, just totally absorbed by games. It was amazing. I love that Sly still has a beating heart in people today. ❤

    I loved 2 and 3 as a kid but I never got around to playing 1. I recently played it twice over the past year and I definitely think it’s one of the most underrated 3D platformers I ever played. It has that perfect balance of platforming, stealth, and challenge. It’s easy enough to not make you throw the controller(crash 1) but also challenging enough in certain parts to make you feel accomplished. And even though I prefer the hub world gameplay in 2 and 3 I can appreciate the linear gameplay of sly 1 it’s more of a smooth play through you can casually pick up and finish in a couple days

    Love me my Sly Cooper. Used to play the first 3 religiously when I was younger & still do enjoy them today. Made me want to play other Sucker Punch games recently but unfortunately Infamous didn't really live up to the quality standards that the Sly games set as it feels like SP forgot how to make a parkour system for all of them & for InFAMOUS Second Son just forgot how to make a fun gameplay experience in general. @@RETRObutionofficial probably Sly 3, Sly 2 would be it otherwise but doing them all through PS Plus game streaming made me realize either 2's remaster is rushed or the game itself was as it kinda fell apart at the seams near the end in both versions if I remember correctly lol. Still love 2 though. Also for me InFAMOUS showed potential up to Second Son where it just lost alot of that charm the open world had with every side mission being unique instead of the same copy paste structure 20 times over. Also didn't appreciate having to dig my Dualsense out of the grave to do graffiti as the controller I normally use doesn't have a SixAxis but that's neither here nor there lol. I also just didn't find Combat fun & impactful like launching lighting bolts & bombs did.

Like anytime I've done missions that requires me to climb something like the Prison in the first game to the Space Needle in Second Son the system never really worked correctly because it didn't allow to grab what I was jumping to & I'd have to redo that platforming multiple times because of that & even in missions that don't require it it's gotten me killed because I grabbed onto something accidentally when I was trying to avoid an attack. It was better when it was just "Jump & Press the Circle button" because you knew that you were going to connect to what you were jumping to or something near it & had control of when you wanted to grab a ledge or dodge an attack.

    I had a cheat code book for my PS2 with one of the cheats for Ratchet and Clank 3 was a playable demo of Sly 2(similar to Crash having Demos of Spyro behind a cheat code) with me getting hooked on it. At the the time I think the 3rd one was out but the kiosk at Toy R Us had a really dark screen so I couldn't tell what the 3rd game was and got 2 with the 3rd then 1st game being added to my collection. I still see them fondly with the 4th installment being not as good with the PS5 release of just the first game being a rip off since they made a trilogy pack for the PS3 and could've used that again for everyone to play all 3. And to say about Jack and Daxter, I question what made it good since neither it's story hooked me in since it felt like it over bloated itself with it being unable to make me invested in our main 2. While gameplay with the 1st game was simple an good, when they added guns while trying to mix the melee in on top of the enemies and no sort of strafing or aiming let alone ammo pickups I tried to avoid open world combat as much as possible since you got nothing from it.

    Another good PlayStation 2 game I would suggest would be Deus Ex the conspiracy. It's the PlayStation 2 Port of the PC game and has been my favorite in the franchise for a long time. Another good game that has been talked about for a long time would be Sphinx and the cursed mummy for PlayStation 2.
    Another Niche one would be Neopets and the dark fairy, that one is a Zelda like adventure game with a surprising amount of content if you can get past a few very fatal flaws in the game design.
    I'm a game collector myself but while I used to collect every single game known to man ever since the PS4 came to be most of my games unfortunately have been digital. I have 655 games but unfortunately they're all digital and I sold most of my physical copies. I mean no offense, but how can you enjoy the PS2 port more than the PC original? Did you just play it when you were young without playing the original or what? I'll admit that it's an interesting exercise in what can be removed from a game while keeping the core intact, and it's definitely not the WORST in the series (coughinvisiblewarcough). That said, it is, in a pretty objective sense, simply a worse version of Deus Ex, and this is coming from an unrepentant PS2 fanboy.

    • @SoloGamer42
      @SoloGamer42 5 месяцев назад

      @@Just.Kidding I have the original PC version on my computer with the revision mod. And I have completed that version three times, however I still prefer the PS2 version just for the fact that it's a little bit more streamlined and easier to replay. The PC version is great with mods and with the revision mod has a new game plus but I grew up with the PS2 version due to the fact that I have never once owned a PC that is powerful enough to play anything remotely graphic intensive. Sometimes the PC version might be superior but it's not someone else's taste. I've always been a console person and even to this day I still only on the PC that I've had 11 years ago.
      And I love the PS2 Library, but playing on original PS2 Hardware isn't as enjoyable as it once was. To this day my favorite console of all time for PlayStation would be the PlayStation 4, and I have no desire to upgrade to a ps5. I'm one person that is ecstatic that they are finally using a better emulator to Port over some of the more well-known or fan favorite PS2 games to PlayStation 4 and 5. I prefer retro gaming over modern gaming since most modern games don't even intrigue me anymore and I tend to just play my PS4 and my Nintendo Wii. Again it's all about preference rather than being optimal or playing the best version of something. However I do see the appeal and always playing the best version of something because sometimes due to age or Hardware limitations one version might be inferior to the other, however I never felt that way about the PS2 games that were also on pc. And in this modern day and age consoles can pretty much be as powerful as a PC without the hassle of always needing to upgrade or install mods or the basic upkeep of owning a PC.
      But I don't hate PC, and some games are better with mods but still it's all about preference. Each has their own qualities but I've always preferred consoles in my own opinion

It's truly an amazing underrated series 🥹🖤

      I love hearing rental stories, I have a lot of them to share one day. I missed out on this series until I was like 19 and I'm so happy that I finallplayed it
