    Hey Sean - appreciate the 100 day review, looking forward to this when it’s available. How would you compare / contrast this with the R1 Tech Face? I use this piece all the time backcountry touring, mostly as a mid layer over my baselayer and Nano Air vest. Curious as to your thoughts how this new jacket would fit into my system. Thanks, my friend!

    • @Engearment
      @Engearment  Год назад +1

      Hello my man! I really like the R1 techface. But this one seems to breath better. Yet have more insulation in the torso. Probably like your vest.
      It’s really versatile.
      Hope your adventures are great up there!

    Did you use a backpack directly on the R1 fabric on the back and did you notice some wear and tear? I had jackets which showed significant damage in a short amount of time at the lower back were my backpack is rubbing against. Therefore I use more robust jackets but they are not breathable :/

    Hi Sean, any chance you'll be doing review on the updated Nano Air hoody? I can't decide between the new nano-air or the micro Puff because they're both priced at $329. I only saw two reviews on Patagonia's website from a user in August as well as another user earlier this month of October. Thank you.

      Hello! I was just chatting with our contacts at Patagonia and I believe we will have the new Nano Air soon to review. I saw it in person last spring and it is very nice. Keep you posted!

    This reminds me of Black Diamond’s new Vision Hybrid Hoody, also with a different fabric on the back. It is interesting and nice trend for me because I tend to sweat so much on my back. Comparing Atom, Proton, Nano Air and Black Diamond’s First Light Stretch Hoody for active insulation, I have to see the First Light wins the game. However unfortunately BD discontinued that jacket (why?????). It’s the best jacket I have ever had for hiking uphill (sweaty bad) and staying warm on top of the mountain when I stand still resting. Atom and Proton and Nano Air just don’t provide as much warmth and fabric durability so that it’s not enough for resting on top of mountain and I am kinda nervous when using a rough backpack. Do you by any chance review the new Black Diamond Vision Hybrid Hoody? Although it’s not a direct replacement of the First Light Stretch Hoody, it is the closest new jacket from BD. Again thank you for your review and I am grateful that I found your channel. Greetings from Taipei, Taiwan!

    Hello Mr. Sean, thank you for the review, I purchased a OR Vigor sometime ago (microgrid fleece, trim fit) and I didn't like because it is very effective pulling sweat out of the body and getting smelly in the process, which means it cannot be used multiple days in urban environment or when travelling. What about this Patagonia hoodie?

    • @Engearment
      @Engearment  Год назад

      Hello! Thanks for the nice note! I am with you, I can not do much activity in any microgrid fleece without it quickly stinking. I can live in the Nano-Air light for weeks and not have the same level of stink. I think the synthetic insulation on the front does such a great job of breathing.

    • @Engearment
      @Engearment  Год назад +1

      Heck yeah buddy! It is a cool company called MADE. Couple of former arcteryx peeps Forbes it. We have a podcast episode with them as well as a detailed review on the custom jacket. I love it. Thanks for the good question!

    How would you compare this nano air light hybrid to the standard R1 hoody (use would be resort skiing and occasional backcountry skiing with a Powslayer outlayer). Particularly in terms of warm and breathability. I currently use the R1 hoody for that purpose (for the past decade or so) and am at the point where I will need to replace. Just wondering if I should wait for this particular jacket to come out.
    Of note, I did try an R1 Air hoody and I think it is bulky (and hotter) compared to the standard R1 as a midlayer so I've nixed that one off the list.

    • @Engearment

      Thank you! Yes, there is in the arms. Feels about that same density as the torso. It’s a nice, even distribution of breathable insulation. Heck, I am wearing it right now! 😎😆
