I lost it all, the Millions, My Family, the cars and the houses - Richard's Riches to Rags Story

  • Please note that at the moment Richard is overwhelmed with the positive response and offers to help him that he has asked we hold off on sharing his contact details.
I met Richard as I was refilling my car, he asked for a few coins for food. Explained that he was homeless. I then suggested we go into the garage shop and get some food. I asked him for his story as we walked and he told me he used to be a gold trader but some business moves disappointed him. He was forced to eat into his capital and now he was homeless sleeping at parks in gated communities. I suggested we go to the supermarket to get him some food for a week. the excitement on his face. He says he doesn't drink nor take drugs but does smoke ciggies. I asked that he tell his story on camera as it could be a lesson to many. He said something profound but unfortunately not on camera. He said, "making money is the easy part". Richard is hopeful besides his circumstances and that makes me happy.
We parted on hopeful terms, I got grocery for him, I gave him my voucher that Knorrox had gifted me so he can have food for the rest of the month, we exchanged numbers. I'll keep in touch with him and help where I can.
Remember folks it's not how much you make but rather how much you keep. Wealth is about sustainability.

Such a touching story; this is a great conversation. Thank you for letting him tell his story, no distractions, only relevant questions asked. I feel 10 minutes is not enough with this bucket of wisdom. Please consider having him on for more chats, particularly... to his parting point... on the things not to do whilst in the position he used to find himself in because he seemingly did the right things of investing in shares, property, etc but they didn't quite come off well for him in the end.

Wow, what a story to share. The most painful thing is that Richard is (or was) clearly a smart businessman and knew what he was doing. One would argue that he must have diversified his business portfolio to reduce risk, but this is a man who fell victim to circumstance and legislative rulings beyond his control. Very sad. I pray and hope you find something soon, you come across as a decent and good human being - for that, you deserve to be happy. All the best!!!

This guy story is so sad and touching. I live in the US and help my family in Africa a LOT financially but they feel like I’m not doing enough. They are not humble and will always complain, basically they want me to empty all my savings for them and I gave them the middle finger. I cut them off for 10 months, I won’t even talk to them, no calls, no texts, no emails absolutely nothing until they apologized multiple times and humbled themselves then I started helping them again. I refuse to go totally broke for a family member, siblings not even my parents. I wish you could set up a donation page here to help richard.
