  • The Baryonyx walkeri, at first glance, may seem like a Spinosaurus without a sail. And although it was indeed closely related to the Spinosaurus, it was so much more than another Spinosaurid. And thanks to some recent movie appearances like in Ice Age 3 and Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom, more people are learning about the Baryonyx and its amazing features, which allowed it to thrive in Early Cretaceous Europe for over 5 million years!

    does anybody think that we need more Cenozoic predators in media besides Smilodon. I mean you got Credonts, Amphicyonids, Borophagines, and a whole host of other canovores.

    Dude, 0:13 just reminds me of a 4 part series game called rockfords rock opera which I played as a kid. I didn’t understand and the time, but it was actually about wildlife preservation. Surprisingly you can still get it.

    Most of those spinosaurs don’t exist in my mind, but those are the smoothest dinosaur drawings have ever seen.

    Always been my favourite, along with its pal Polacanthus, and the fabulous Kentrosaurus. Dinosaurs are absolutely wonderful.

    Whether Baryonyx hunted fish or reptiles, you wouldn't want to come anywhere close to that middle claw. Did you see the size of that thing?

      Theropod : Tyrannosaurus rex - Sauropod : Argentinosaurus or some undescribed sauropods like the French monster - Ornithopod : Shantungosaurus/Edmontosaurus - Thyreophora : Ankylosaurus Marginocephalia : Torosaurus

    Just think of baryonyx as two legged theropod saltwater croc. Primarily a fish eater and adept ambush hunter that lived in wetland environments.

    Such a cool Dinosaur. Completely forgot about it remember loving it as a Kid even having a Play-figure of it. My favorite theropod next to the Spinosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Carnotosaurus and the Giganotosaurus

    i would guess it catches food with its mouth only and maybe uses its hand claws to break up big fish into smaller parts to be able to swallow it easier

    It would I believe actively hunt smaller land animals that came to the water. It was an opportunist, eating fish & land animals equally. Imo

    you got the name wrong. it means "heavy claw" not "strong claw". And if the species name ends with "i", its pronounced like the letter, soo "walker-eye", not "walkery".
    side fact: if it ends with "ii", like giganotosaurus carolinii, its pronounced "e-eye".

      No no no no no no no. In Latin and Greek, "i" is always pronounced like in "hit", NEVER "eye". Double "i" is Latin, and is always pronounced like in "feet", not "ee-eye".
