This feels like Jesus Christ spoke at conference. Perhaps there is an important reason why we all needed to hear His words again. Those with eyes to see and ears to hear.
Such spiritual power that only an Apostle of Jesus the Christ can hold.

@@dtondevold2881 We believe all the words from our Savior. This is what is taught in HIS church over and over, yet people say, "church is so boring, they always teach the same thing." People can hear the words of Jehova and forget tomorrow if they aren't repentant for their daily actions.

You can be assured of his sincerity when you examine his fruits. His was one of the most brilliant legal minds on our time. He could have retired in comparative opulance on much more than the stipend he recieves from The Church. He could have spent the rest of his life *not working* and travelling with his wife and sight-seeing.
And yet, he spends at least 70 hours per week administering in The Church seeing the insides of church buildings or rented halls. What motivates men like Dallin Oaks? Do you really believe his sincerity is even remotely in question?

I love Elders Oaks . This man is a true apostle of our Lord Jesus Christ . May God bless him with excellent health so that we may continue to be blessed with teaching.
After studying this talk with all the references, this is the talk that the Savior would give if He were here. There are 33 distinct points of doctrine, and then at the end in the Lord's words, Pres. Oaks tells us "how we should KNOW and FOLLOW His teachings", through "the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost". These are the 33 things that Christ would have us have a testimony of, not just that we know, but that we might follow them too.

this is my favorite general conference talk from this secion because it is all just jesus words so powerful.

For the last couple of weeks I was thinking about a talk that would consist of just reading a chapter or two from the scriptures or a talk that resembles Bruce R McKonkie when he spoke for 20 minutes on how to pray to our Father in Heaven. Having listened to this again, I really feel this was geared towards those out there who don't think LDS believe in the same Jesus Christ as the rest of world does. However like all talks, each one speaks to each of us differently.

What should an apostle of Christ talk about if not the words of Christ?
Very good rendition of the words of Christ, which are accesible for anyone at any time to read in the scriptures. Unfortunately, no commentary is given on what the words mean.
This was the only powerful talk of given in this conference. A masterful piece delivered. Only those open to the spirit will truly understand, just as the words of Isaiah. Isaiah could not speak openly and was forced to speak in riddles that are only deciphered using the Holy Spirit. This was due to the wickedness of the people during that time. Oaks is speaking to us now, and must speak in ways that are only deciphered by those who truly have the spirit with them. This talk is a masterpiece. Those without the spirit will hear something completely different than the ones listening with the spirit as a a translator. Simply astonishing! A masterful piece, the rebel alliance will fight the empire and win

Hard to contend againts Christs words
It's like he heard that some of us keep track of the number of times in conference a speaker quotes the current prophet or Joseph Smith as opposed to Jesus. Jesus always gets far fewer mentions than Nelson. This talk, while being little more than a random collection of quotes seemingly totally unrelated to each other and offered up with almost no context or insight, did a great job padding the numbers for Jesus.

Not true. We had our kid’s listen for the word Jesus Christ during conference and if they heard it they could grab a candy from the jar labeled Jesus Christ. Only Jesus Christ counted, not Jesus and also it didn’t count when it was said in the prayers or the end of the talks where they leave the talk in the name of Jesus Christ. They went through a whole jar of candies. By Sunday afternoon they were finished.
As missionary, 30 years ago, felt spirit stronger when teaching and talking of Joseph Smith than when talking of New Testament, because the people already knew the New Testament, yet we need constant review of all scripture, Matt. 10: 40 " Jesus only accepts those who accept His servants. " namely prophets and parents.

Speaking only Christ's words. Do you think Christ was there telling him to say this?
Christians forget scriptures easily, and some, the more negative ones, who are richer, deny universal resurrection, because you can make many new friends and make big money by being negative, on climate and crime; Resurrection fixes it all.
Not gonna lie, I feel like President Oaks may have cheated on this talk 🤣 my wife gave a talk in sacrament meeting recently and felt like she may have used too many quotes, now we know she has nothing to worry about regarding that.
D&C 42 overview of section and section itself says " the scriptures govern the church "
The best commentary to the scriptures is the scriptures!
