I saw Anthony in Scrooge, with Stratford Johns. When he sang 'Do my Eyes Deceive Me', the whole theatre was crying. A man turned around with tears pouring down his face and said to me, 'He's such as great star'.....he was.

Hi Thank you for your post. It seems this performance has brought back some wonderful memories for people. Jeannie King posted, "the musical has some quintessentially "Newley" moments such as him singing I'll Begin Again. I remember the goosebumps when I sat in the audience and heard it for the first time." Such a wonderful performer. Kindest regards Kenny

Dear Gabrielle, Thank you for your very kind comments. I'm am so pleased you enjoyed Scrooge, it makes it all worthwhile posting. I was lucky enough to see the show several times at several places over the years and I would say Tony gave the same magnificent performance each and every time even when sometimes he was unwell, a true talent and professional. Kindest regards Kenny

Thanks for uploading this version of what I call the good book. Caught some of this when the BBC broacast it (think) late 1995 and was amazed by the strength of Newley's singing I'll Begin Again and Better Life. Power like an opera singer when his voice got deeper. The interview is great too about the down side of touring and homeless people with us again. Newley and Dickens what a combination! (Lean's Artful Dodger too).

Nearly forgot how great he was as Quilp too.

I think Sherridan Morley might have been remembering a shortened version within the All Star Record Breakers Christmas show from 1976 when he thought this musical came from tv.

Hi Jeannie. Thank you for your kind comments. My wife Sue and I were lucky enough to see the show a few times at different venues. Although this audio doesn't do this show full justice, it's still wonderful to hear and relive the memories. I also think there were so many people around the World that never got the chance to see the show, so hopefully they may be thrilled to hear the magic of Anthony Newley and the supporting cast. Kind regards Kenny.

@@denton115 you're absolutely right. And the musical has some quintessentially "Newley" moments such as him singing I'll Begin Again. I remember the goosebumps when I sat in the audience and heard it for the first time.

Hi. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I’ve been away for a few days. I have a vinyl copy, which is packed away with my vinyl collections in our Son’s loft. But I did see there are various copies at low prices on eBay etc. I hope this help. Kindest regards Kenny
