Might come as a bit of a shock, but not everyone in Middlesborough's life revolved around Lee Duffy. Why would another grown man NEED to mention Lee Duffy in a book about himself? Different people, different circles.

Slightly different but better is Jimmy Boyle: A Sense of Freedom. If you ever think your life's shit, read this. It's good because it's so grey and barren and hopeless you can feel it.
I dunno why I remember this, but he'd never seen a cow or sheep until he was in the prison van going to prison.
He grew up in the tenements, in the Gorbals, Glasgow.
I could not put it down. They built a special prison for him called The Special Unit in Barlinnie. He was known as the most dangerous man in Scotland in the 1960s, when they didn't have straighteners, because getting slashed was everywhere.
This book puts you in the heart of the greyness and shitness of the Gorbals. He fought on the streets, then fought anyone within reach in prison.
Depressing as fuck, but that's the point.
