I’ve spent months looking at bike reviews of bikes in this genre . This is by far the best . No BS just what riders look for. Climbing , descending and value . Well done gentlemen 👊
Biker's Edge I know for me being in the market for a new bike and living in rural Australia there are not too many demo days or demo bikes so YT is your friend . Damn I almost got a optic after watching Connor on one lol . I’ll watch anything about MTB but a good , honest no BS review is where it’s at .
I liked the format of this review. It made it easy to understand the differences in the ride characteristics of each bike. I hope to see more reviews like this one from your team, thanks!
I second this. I like this format and your style with it because it’s really the only way to tease out the differences in the bikes. Individual reviews can all start to sound the same. Pretty much all the bikes from reputable brands at the same price point and travel are good bikes. Reading four reviews about how each is “plush but lively” and “poppy but still planted” isn’t super helpful, but stacking them side-by-side and describing how each company biases their bikes for slightly different styles is really helpful. Your videos have really helped me nail down that I’m an Ibis-style rider, kind of independently of the segment of bike.
Brilliant analysis. I love how the feel of the bikes is where the emphasis is in your reviews. We can all compare components from spec sheets. Subscribed.
Somehow found you on the internet and suddenly you became my go-to site/YT channel for reviews! This is the best bike shootout in a long time, putting ups and downs of each bike. You almost lost me a little while giving every bike a reward, but then the last take-one-bike "saved" you! Ordered an Occam M10 with the 36 based on your inputs and reviews!
Hey thanks for the kind words. Glad you're digging the videos. It's always awesome to hear how we've helped folks decide on a new bike. You're going to love that bike by the way. Enjoy! As for giving each bike an award, we always like to focus on strengths and highlight what each bike does well. Let's face it, there isn't really a bad bike out there these days.
@@bikersedge Yeah, there aren't, especially for 3000$. But still, somehow it was easy to find myself in your review for each bike(what I had now and what I wanted in the future), and decided on the Orbea. Think that is the best thing about your reviews. And thank God someone still takes uphill with the same importance factor as the descents while talking about 140mm travel. Keep up the good work guys, especially answering all the questions in the comments section and putting real weight numbers! When you have a 6-7km uphill to the top, 36lbs of the Hightower becomes noticeable!
Great review guys. I was in the market for an Oiz, Top Fuel 8 and a Occam H20. I finally went for the Occam for my 1st ever duel suspension. Arrived yesterday. Cant wait to ride it at the weekend.
I went through a similar process when buying my bike and ended up going with the cascade peak from fezzari. It has some pretty amazing spec for $3k. Plus it’s a local for you guys! Nice review, fellas! Thanks for the content
I second everyone liking this format. Since this year is extra hard to demo bikes the input of multiple riders with real experience is appreciated. Haven't bought a new mtb is 10 years and WOW have things changed. Your reviews have really educated me. Thought the bike I needed (N+1) had to start around $4000 and be as light as possible. I've was overlooking some great bikes. My spread sheet has expanded and now I'm getting analysis paralysis.
Thanks for the kind words. The level of bike you can get for 3000 these days is pretty impressive. I had the same amount of fun riding these as I did their high end counterparts.
i have the occam M30 (carbon frame, slx/fox performance spec) and i have to say better tyres (magic mary, hans damf f and r) have REALLY helped expand its potential. You were right in saying this bike is FAST. The bigger tyres make it much more surefooted and very, very capable - even with 140mm rear travel. Imo it also really aids its incredible climbing ability.
Awesome shootout. The Ripmo, Occam, and Hightower were my top 3 choices, but the higher end carbon versions. Went with the Occam M10 with 36, 4 pot XTs, Dissector tires. Wanted just a bit more AM bike that climbs well as I live on the Front Range. This helped confirm that choice me. Thanks.
I'm out here in Denver and I'm thinking of a similar set up. I'd add the 36, upgraded shock, Minions, and upgraded brakes too. At $4k for the alloy, that's a hell of a lot of bike.
Asa Hunt I’m out in Arvada and grabbed the M30 with the grip 2 36 upgrade. Brakes aren’t terrible but not great. Probably the fastest full squish I’ve riden
Like most people, I watch a lot of this type of bike review vid...this was possibly one of the best no-nonsense shootout/reviews I’ve ever seen. I’d love to see more content like this from you three
Very good review. I’m currently between the reign, and the trance. I do mostly urban riding (by urban, I mean heavy stair jumps, fast alleyway runs, and climbing) along side trails and parks. Currently on a carbon hardtail 29’er.
Great review however I have to call you guys out on a very very very important detail that you didn't mention. The Ripmo AF is the only bike to offer a coil shock as an upgrade and for only $100.00 US. The Orbea offers a shock upgrade to the Fox DPX2 but it's $250.00. I also know that the Ripmo AF comes with Stan's Sealant to setup tubeless right out of the box but do not know about the other bikes.
Great group test! Would have been cool to see it expanded with a couple more bikes. Maybe like a YT Jeffsy Comp and Canyon Spectral AL 5.0 to get some consumer direct action in there since they often have great value.
Well done, calm, and articulate opinions. If I advance further in this hobby/sport, these bikes are in my projected budget. Thanks for clearing up a lot of questions and confusing opinions you get looking for a bike. I let the experts do the legwork, lol.
That 12:37 - 12:40 section made me feel better about myself when riding that black trail at fruit loops. Everytime I go down it I'm always amazed at that section. Like who the heck is riding at the appropriate trail speed to hit those doubles /and/ make that left turn without running straight into that tree? So thanks for that lol
Also, since I see now that you included the rock drop on that same trail, how did that 35 handle the drop? Was it wobbly and bottoming out, or did it take it relatively well?
I"d love to see this same type of review of $3000 and under Short travel XC/Trail ( down something category)!! Not all of us require or want to spend large cash on a Spur or Ripley ... but would love a solid quality platform with the new geo and battles between the XC 'ers trail or enduro riders trail ride, either a direct to consumer/ in-store purchase.... something in the capable all-round ride that a guy can ride with the kids during the week or slap some skidrow in the walkman and smash trails with the guys reliving the glory days.... what'd say guys? let's see what ya come up with... Cheers
You guys have the best well rounded trustworthy reviews. Awesome mix of riding and commentary. Bummer that Ripmo AF is now $3900, Hightower no longer available in AL and Tallboy is $3600, Reign 2 $3650 & Occam H20 $3900. What $3000 roundup would you do now with today's prices?
That's how you do a bike review, well-done guys. I researched a ton of bikes in this category and after careful consideration landed on the Occam. Specialized is out of stock on the 2020 Stumpie ST Comp Alloy 29 ($3,020.00), so I needed to find a worthy replacement I could actually buy right now (buying a new bike is like trying to buy physical gold right now, supplies all dried up and everybody wants one!). A bike shop in the bay area turned me on to the Occam. this was among the reviews that helped seal the deal. Plus they gave me a price on the Occam M30 carbon frame w/ Shimano SLX that's so ridiculous it wouldn't be fair to post it publicly. The stoke is strong in me right now ;) BTW Im sure many others would be super interested to hear your opinions vs the equivalent 2020 Stumpie ST Comp Carbon 29 ... its similarly specced to the M30 ($3,999.00) but goes for $521 more retail ($4,520.00). Have you ridden them both and whats the major differences if any?
Stoked you picked up an Occam. It’s such a great bike. Glad our video could help! We don’t carry specialized so we aren’t able to get our hands on one for a review.
My bike was stolen from my LBS and I remembered watching this a couple Of times. I was fortunate enough to have a different shop with a m30 Model in stock and swooped it up BECAUSE OF THIS VIDEO
I think the orbea occam is more an all mountain bike than a trail bike. Using the fox 36 factory fork, other tyres and better brakes, it feels more like an all mountain bike or an undersized enduro bike for me. That's how I see it.
H20 model specifically comes with a Fox 34 and two piston brakes and the lightweight tires - we tested these bikes as is. You can get other models with a 36 but they aren't $3000. That said, go ride it back to back with a Hightower and it will feel much more like a trail bike than an all-mountain bike.
@@radagascar1 But this test is about bikes that cost less than $3000. You're $1000 too high. I love the Occam, don't get me wrong, but If I'm on rowdy trails, I'm taking the Hightower. The geo and suspension platform are more suited for rowdy trails.
@@bikersedge Some time ago I also ridden the roughest trails with my cheap hardtail. I think the occam will still do a lot, even if the Hightower would be better suited for it. I was able to do a lot with my hardtail , then it will probably work with the occam.
Given how rowdy the Ripmo AF is designed to be, I suspect groupset and brakes will be the first two things replaced on it, hence the cost cutting of running NX and Guide T. I would expect most Ripmo AF NX builds to end up running GX on NX cassette and either SLX or XT 4 pots or Code RSCs within half a season, seems you're mainly buying the Ripmo AF NX build to get the frame and DVO suspension.
Good review but you missed out a great spec bike for a great price with some great kit, the Vitus sommet vr! I have a 2017 model and i pass people up and down on bikes worth far more!
Thinking to buy secondhand Polygon siskiu d6 2018 vs. GT avalanche expert 2014 vs. Giant fathom 29 2 2017. Which one would be the best choice if its conditions and prices are same. Please help me any advice and suggestions? Thanks!
I'm between the Occam and the Ripmo AF. Just on looks the Orbea wins but for suspension the Ibis wins. Plus being in the Bay Area keeping it Ibis would be helping a local company. I just wish they had a better paint color for the Ripmo.
They're both really good. They are very different on the trail though. The Rimpo is on the burlier side of "trail" and the Occam is on the lighter side.
@@bikersedge bike comes with 2.4 dissector in front, but was also thinking at agressor 2.5 but that would be wider then 2.4 dissector... When comes about rekon or ardent looks one of fastest but with lack of breaking :)
@velomaniaromania pretty sure that .1” difference won’t be all that noticeable. Plus I personally like the tread pattern on the dissector much more than the aggressor.
@@bikersedge on my cross country carbon bike i have a racing ray and racing ralph on rear tyre... but wanna try a maxxis setup this time for a full susp bike
This is an odd comparison . . . but the Occam vs the 5010 . . . which $3,000 bike would you rather be stuck with for the next 4-5 years? I'm looking to pit the best of the 29ers vs the best 27.5 Asking for a friend. Great review though!
I just bought my new bike and I was crossed between the Ripmo AF and the Occam. But then I saw the Transition Sentinel. For 3500 a alloy GX build with Code RSC brakes, Fox 36 fork and a DPX2 right from Transition. I had to do it
Hey thanks. The Occam was an easy call because it was leaps ahead of the other bikes for climbing. The other three were a lot harder to differentiate. I think it would be the Ripmo if you got rid of the Assegai tires. Because of that it probably has to go the the Hightower. The Reign was close but the long wheelbase made it a little more unwieldy going up tighter, bumpier climbs.
Great wrap-up, enjoying all your vids. I'm in the UK and have just ordered the Occam H30 (+ Magura MT5 brakes)....I assume its the same frame as the H20?
How would you compare the descending quality of the Occam with the 150mm Fox 36 on it to the one with the 140 fox 34? Can you guess a percentage of how much it raises the confidence?
About the reign I'm looking for this bike I'm around 1.80 about 5.10.5 the thing is the sizing because from Medium to large there's a huge jump right now I'm in a 2016 specialized enduro 29 large reach is 445 it feels good some people say that reign medium is small and they jump to large I'm in a tuff situation here
Im 5.10 and got the large and can't fault it. My mate is also 5.10 and he got the medium and is happy with that. It depends what kind of riding you do..I wanted to upsize as I enjoy steep technical stuff and bike parks. If you want to hit trail centres medium might be better
I love your reviews guys. Would you go for a AL Reign 2 2021 today? The frame is now a bit older, but is it too old compared to the newest ones in the market?
Hey thanks! I still think it’s a perfectly valid bike. I wouldn’t really put it up against other enduro bikes even though that’s how giant categorizes it. I think it falls in line with modern all mountain bikes.
What you think about the 2021 hightower? I'm really interested on that one because here in Costa Rica is hard to get those brands there's not that much variety here. And what you guys would change in some time?
They can be a little tricky to come by at the moment. The bike industry supply chain has been thrown off quite a bit with the pandemic. We are hearing from our brands that things should be returning to normal pretty soon.
Jump on the Occam, I just ordered one on the way from a shop. Orbea website also say the factory is shipping this week so they must have started the factory up and cranked some out recently (6/18/2020)
Great review guys. I'm really digging the Orbea Occum H20. Does the 140mm travel offer enough to hit some mid-size drops and jumps? In the market for my first FS MTB and all the options can be a lil overwhelming lol
Excellent set of reviews and roundtable discussion. I own the Reign 29 2 and was wondering what your thoughts are on the Yari fork? I haven't had the pleasure of riding a Lyrik and I was wondering if the getting the Charger upgrade was worth it to help small bump compliance and manage big hits better. Is there a major difference in performance between the motion control and charger or does it come down to more adjustability?
Hey thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. I think you could probably tell a very slight difference in the two in small bumps like you said. I don’t think you’d notice any difference in big hits. The biggest factor would be adjustability. Personally I don’t tinker with my suspension all that much so I don’t miss the high end stuff. I’d rather ride it than mess with it in the garage.
Biker's Edge I do have to admit it’s super easy to set the Yari up. I took out one token and set the sag and that was it. I had a Grip 2 Fox 36 for a year and it was a minefield to set up. Thanks for the feedback! 👌🏻
I figured someone would call us out for that. I agree with you. I think it’s funny that $3000 can be considered a budget bike too. But in reality, for a decent full suspension bike that’s going to hold up to seasons of riding, it’s going to cost pretty much $2500-$3000. Considering top tier bikes can run over $10,000 these days, $3,000 doesn’t seem all that bad by comparison.
@@bikersedge Well, apparently Ibis is no longer selling the Ripmo AF with the NX build option. The least expensive option is now the Deore build at $3199. Do you know if a $3000 build is going to come back?
@@fightclubMTB I believe they went to the Deore because the NX stuff might be hard to get right now. There are actually a big bike and parts crunch because of the "pandemic" but why don't you shoot Ibis an email they're great to work with!
@@bbarker5766 I am new to mountain biking and was about to pull the trigger when the NX build disappeared. Would you consider Deore parts to be an upgrade over the NX?
@@idontnoah166 they would be equal to maybe a tad better. I went with the SLX build for my son. I've never had trouble with Shimano or SRAM when set up properly.
I'm 6'2 and my local bike shop has one Orbea for 3k. However, it is large. I explained that I was recovering from a recent back surgery and he suggested that the L would probably be better suited for my condition, being a more upright ride. Is he on to something or just trying to make a sale? Great review btw!
Do you Ride the 29 1 Version? I might buy it in the next days. You think it is a better climber than the 29 2 ? Thanks in advance. Your Channel is great! Greetings from Germany
I didn’t. I only rode the 2. Personally I don’t think it’s going to be much different on the climbs. Might save a tiny bit of weight but probably not enough to be super noticeable.
Lol budget mountain bike… man I love mountain biking but it is really expensive. I know that they are correct to call them budget in comparison but 3k is a lot of money for many people. I am glad there are brands like Vitus out there for non doctors like myself out here.
@@bikersedge ah that is great information! A review like that would be amazing. What you may be implying is that direct buy may not offer anymore that bang for your buck as it used to. It seems like most of the bike shop brands are offering a pretty solid bike at the $3000 price point. They have to in order to be competitive with the D2C brands. Since we are a bike shop we’re not able to make videos with the D2C brands. We just don’t have access to them.
Nice review but good luck finding any of theses bikes. Nobody wants to actually sell these- profit margin too low. Trying to find a bike for my 15 year old son. I tried finding any of the 4- nothing.

@@bikersedge yes a bikers edge on east coast. You are in Utah? I still do not see any of the 4 bikes in stock as tested sub 3,000- at least not listed on your website. I will call. As far as my first statement- nobody in California I have called carries these “base” bikes, as well as online retailers listed for the ibis or the Santa Cruz.
Hey thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately I think 4k is the new 3k.
@@bikersedge Seems that way. It sucks too bc there isn't anything new to them, except the price...
@@kbd13-n9c agreed. Although that’s not a problem specific to bikes at the moment. Inflation is a bummer across the board.
Does anyone have a link to a good LSC set up tutorial, riding the same trails I can't seem to feel what it does to the bike
Awesome job guys - thank you!
Thanks. Glad you liked it.
My bike was stolen from my LBS and I remembered watching this a couple
Of times. I was fortunate enough to have a different shop with a m30
Model in stock and swooped it up BECAUSE OF THIS VIDEO
Awesome to hear we could help. Bummer about the stolen bike.
Yeah, for $4k you upgrade the fork, shock, brakes tires and you've got a rowdy AM bike for cheap
Great job you guys. Love your videos.
Hey thanks. Glad you’re liking them!
That’s a solid point. The groupset was fine. Didn’t really see a need to upgrade that, but I’d certainly be upgrading brakes. The guide Ts can’t hang.
Good review but you missed out a great spec bike for a great price with some great kit, the Vitus sommet vr! I have a 2017 model and i pass people up and down on bikes worth far more!
Unfortunately that's not a bike we have access to.
Thinking to buy secondhand Polygon siskiu d6 2018 vs. GT avalanche expert 2014 vs. Giant fathom 29 2 2017. Which one would be the best choice if its conditions and prices are same.
Please help me any advice and suggestions? Thanks!
Excellent Video 😎
Thank you very much!
Does anybody have any experience with the Marin Alpine Trail XR? Is it a good bike with good components?
I'm between the Occam and the Ripmo AF. Just on looks the Orbea wins but for suspension the Ibis wins. Plus being in the Bay Area keeping it Ibis would be helping a local company. I just wish they had a better paint color for the Ripmo.
They're both really good. They are very different on the trail though. The Rimpo is on the burlier side of "trail" and the Occam is on the lighter side.
Hey guys,
What tyres would you recomand for Orbea H20?
What tyre would roll a bit faster and would make it great on all terrain?
Tough to find “fast rolling” and “great on all terrain.” There are always compromises. A dissector/rekon combo could be good. Or double dissector.
@@bikersedge i did order a rekon 2.4 for rear :) let's see how it works :)
Thanks for advices
This review is awesome
Thanks. Glad you liked it.
for some reason Ive seen the occam come with NX instead of XT/SLX combination for 3000 bucks
It’s available in an NX build for $3000 too. I waited for the SLX/XT to be available. The Shimano saves quite a bit of weight so I’m glad I waited!
Jonathan Semmler you found the SLX/XT for 3000?
Orbea makes two versions of the H20. The H20 we tested with SLX/XT and the H20-Eagle with the NX drivetrain. Both retail for $2999.
This is an odd comparison . . . but the Occam vs the 5010 . . . which $3,000 bike would you rather be stuck with for the next 4-5 years? I'm looking to pit the best of the 29ers vs the best 27.5
Asking for a friend.
Great review though!
Oh dang. Not sure. I’d need to ride a 5010. It’s been a lot time. Please hold.
Biker's Edge roger roger.
Would you guys do a review on the Fezzari Cascade peak?
Won’t be able to. They’re a direct to consumer brand and we are a bike shop that can’t/doesn’t carry them.
I got my Orbea H20 for 2500 euros! I'm still waiting for it cause of the high demand but I hope it turns out to be a good bike
Nice! It’s a great bike. You’ll love it.
how about the new canyon torque 6.0 al?
That’s a direct to consumer brand we don’t have access to at the shop. We won’t be able to make that happen.
@@bikersedge oh ;(
What about the cannondale habit 4 ?
We don’t have any in demo to ride. That will have to wait for a future video.
can you tell me how Gold 35 RL works? I wonder how much he is missing for Revelation? maybe he is closer to Recon?
It works surprisingly well. It lacks a little mid stroke support but honestly doesn’t feel too bad.
I just bought my new bike and I was crossed between the Ripmo AF and the Occam. But then I saw the Transition Sentinel. For 3500 a alloy GX build with Code RSC brakes, Fox 36 fork and a DPX2 right from Transition. I had to do it
Also a great bike. Nice!
@@bikersedge How does the Sentinel climb compared to a Ripmo AF?
What do you guys think about the Diamond Back Release 1?
Haven’t ridden it. Not too familiar with the Diamondback line.
What shoes do you prefer for these tests, flats or clipless? Especially for the terrain.
I ride clipless 99% of the time. Every once in a while I’ll throw on some flats to scare myself and make sure my technique hasn’t gone to hell.
Nice wrap up. What is 2nd in the climbing department in your minds
Have you guys tried the diamondbacks release 29 2?
No. that's not a brand we have access to. Won't be able to give it a spin.
Great wrap-up, enjoying all your vids. I'm in the UK and have just ordered the Occam H30 (+ Magura MT5 brakes)....I assume its the same frame as the H20?
Yes- Same frame.
Hy i am 6 feet n want to buy Occam should i go with large or xl
Tough call. I’d try to ride them both and see which one feels best.
Thanks guys that was a lot of help
Glad you liked it!
What trail are you on when demoing the Reign? With the drop at 9:15?
That’s the Quarry trail in Little Cottonwood Canton.
I got YT Capra for 3k. Been great so far. Wud love review of that vs others.
As a brick and mortar bike shop we don’t have access to YT. Unfortunately won’t be able to do a review.
How would you compare the descending quality of the Occam with the 150mm Fox 36 on it to the one with the 140 fox 34? Can you guess a percentage of how much it raises the confidence?
Yes... Curious as well. Can the extra ~500.00 for Fox 36 Float Factory 150 be justified?
I'd say it adds 20% to the descending capability. If I bought an Occam for myself I would 100% make that upgrade. It's a no brainer for me.
@@bikersedge that is quite a lot. Thanks for the answer 🙏🏼
@Biker's Edge. Thanks for taking the time. Your insight is much appreciated!
About the reign I'm looking for this bike I'm around 1.80 about 5.10.5 the thing is the sizing because from Medium to large there's a huge jump right now I'm in a 2016 specialized enduro 29 large reach is 445 it feels good some people say that reign medium is small and they jump to large I'm in a tuff situation here
That’s been one of our hang ups with the Reign too. Big jumps in the sizing. Do you have access to demo one?
Im 5.10 and got the large and can't fault it. My mate is also 5.10 and he got the medium and is happy with that. It depends what kind of riding you do..I wanted to upsize as I enjoy steep technical stuff and bike parks. If you want to hit trail centres medium might be better
Thanks
What are the height and weights for each rider? Just to help with each riders take on each bike. Thx
We are all between 6’2” and 6’3” and we are all in the 175-195 range.
What trail is that
This one is on a bunch of different trails across northern utah.
@@bikersedge thanks so much. Yeah, it's also a bit lighter than Enduro in the same price range. I think I will go for it as my do-it-all!
What you think about the 2021 hightower? I'm really interested on that one because here in Costa Rica is hard to get those brands there's not that much variety here. And what you guys would change in some time?
I’ll refer you to this video and our “Hightower vs SB130” video for that info. It’s a great all mountain bike if you can get your hands on one.
You guys should review a Sonder!
Thats not a brand we have access to at the shop. unfortunately wont be able to make it happen.
@@bikersedge Dangit. Considering buying one, would've loved to hear your thoughts!
Too bad the Hightower and Ripmo AF are no longer in this price range.

@@victormorel7018 Yeah almost 1k off they're a steal and disappearing fast right now
Good stuff fellas!
Why thank you. Glad you liked it.
Are any of these bikes actually obtainable?
They can be a little tricky to come by at the moment. The bike industry supply chain has been thrown off quite a bit with the pandemic. We are hearing from our brands that things should be returning to normal pretty soon.
Jump on the Occam, I just ordered one on the way from a shop. Orbea website also say the factory is shipping this week so they must have started the factory up and cranked some out recently (6/18/2020)
great content guys, love the reviews! just curious, what tires would you put on the ripmo AF to get it right?
Minions. A DHF/DHRII combo.
Great review guys. I'm really digging the Orbea Occum H20. Does the 140mm travel offer enough to hit some mid-size drops and jumps? In the market for my first FS MTB and all the options can be a lil overwhelming lol
There’s plenty for drops and jumps!
Around that price point I will choose the Canyon Torque Al 6.0
What do you think about the 2020 YT Jeffsy 29? I have one ordered for October
Haven’t ridden it. There’s certainly some great value there though.
ripmo or hightower..!!!!! Really hard to choose with these 2..
Damn, looks like all of these bikes have radically jumped up beyond the $3k price point
Yeah. Unfortunately they're all closer to the $4K mark now.
Where are these recent reviewers getting NX equipped $3k Ripmo AF's? Only thing they show close on their site is the $3200 with Deore
Between when we published the video and now, Ibis discontinued the NX version and replaced it with Deore.
Like the way he says 3000 dollars a budget bike!
Amazing how far we've come where a $3k bike is noted for having a solid component group. I mean, it is three-fucking-thousand dollars after-all ! ;)
Just three or four years ago you couldn’t say the same about a $3,000 bike. There are way better options today as well as better builds for the money.
@@bikersedge Right?! I think mt bikes topped out at around 2-3k when I first got in the game, back in the 80's....

I'm 6'2 and my local bike shop has one Orbea for 3k. However, it is large. I explained that I was recovering from a recent back surgery and he suggested that the L would probably be better suited for my condition, being a more upright ride. Is he on to something or just trying to make a sale? Great review btw!
When are you guys going to sit next to each other in Lycra and give us viewers a comparison of your carbon xc bikes with decent mid level components.
My dad bod doesn't fit into lycra....

Thanks! Have a nice day.
Lol budget mountain bike… man I love mountain biking but it is really expensive. I know that they are correct to call them budget in comparison but 3k is a lot of money for many people. I am glad there are brands like Vitus out there for non doctors like myself out here.
Oh I wont argue that. 3k is a lot of money. If you compare the Vitus ~$3k build with these four bikes, you're actually in the same value ballpark.
