There is no doubt that Eddie Braben was just as important as Eric and Ern. Eddie just got it and created their persona. It was pure comedy platinum. The greatest ever. RIP Eric, Ern and Eddie.
Television Centre is a very different place now in 2020. Only three television studios remain, with a much reduced area used by the BBC, with the rest demolished and made into apartments, shops, cafes, cinema etc. Utter shame.
1:30 - That very room now in 2020 has been totally restructured into an apartment, overlooking the inner "donut" area of Television Centre. Whoever is living in that apartment now, probably has no idea what that space used to be, the wonderful Bill Cotton's office.
Good humour. The best in their time. We need a good clean double act and script writer to fill the space they left behind. 2013 and who can fill the gap?
Not only have we lost Eric and Ernie, we've lost Eddie Braben as well. And even more sadly, we've lost the incomparable Victoria Wood. As I grow older (63 now) more and more of the people who entertained me are falling away. Yes I know there are some extremely funny new comedians but I still miss the cleaner, simpler, less sharp comedy.
Thank you very much! What a wonderful story! Back in the seventies, where people still had a sense of humour!
Oh how I miss them:-( Christmas has never been the same without them.
I saw them live in Bournemouth,oh what a brilliant show they put on,amazing.

3:52 - This has to have been the best joke written by Eddie Braben for Eric.

Holy crap, they're playing the Bonzo Dog Band in the background! Poor Eddie, he looks so heartbroken to have lost Eric and Ern.

Can anyone identify the piece of music which is playing in the background when Eddie is first walking into the BBC? I would be eternally grateful.

Funny that a scouser came to write the funniest scripts ever!
