You did a good job with this video, congrats! I agree with your points, would be great to discuss the NBA rights impact as well. I think its a great outcome for WBD and Zas
Great video and totally agree with your sentiments about the BAC analyst's take... it's what Charlie Munger would have called "twaddle and bullshit." By the way... I believe the very same analyst called a fair value of $40/share at the time of the spinoff. Nothing but reaction-seeking headlines on Yahoo Finance as well. Gets old.
I agree with you on everything, but have two doubts: 1) It’s common practice for companies to leak this sort of idea to publications under the umbrella of “people familiar with the matter” to assess market reaction. So I wouldn’t rule out that WBD itself is behind these articles and/or exploring these options; 2) Lots of people in Hollywood believe that Zaslav’s true agenda is to make the company more attractive and then sell it off (or chunks of it). I hope this isn’t the case or, if it is, that shareholders don’t get a bad deal.
There is one major flaw with this video. You mentioned when reviewing articles about the breakup that John Malone is a major shareholder in WBD and this was part of a bunch of "random filler" for the article. John Malone being involved might be one of the biggest points that support your point of view. What is going on with WBD right now is taken right from the John Malone playbook, namely masterful handling of debt and a focus on free cash flow.
What are your thoughts on the impact of the NBA deal on ebidta and the future? Also the probability of taking legal action and winning? I assume the carriage rates will be impacted.
Tbh seems like it falling through will be good to earnings, hard to say short term as some people will cancel subscriptions I imagine. I think we were overpaying, also I’d prefer we saw ourselves as a licensor at heart rather than a distributor. Wether it’s VHS, DVD, rental, or Netflix, people will always want to watch Friends, Jaws, Gladiator. So I’d rather put money into films and shows than basketball.

I'm still mad about Coyote vs Acme being written off for taxes. Same with Batgirl. I'm aware it's only business but I am annoyed.
Hi, I really like your analysis. Can you please make another analysis on WBD after Q2 report. Thank you
I uploaded my pre-analysis just now
A split would be shortsighted and dumb. TU for this video!
It’s easy to ignore the in unwritten costs of pissing people off and creating loads extra work
Thanks for looking into this rumor, I was very surprised when I saw that news and did not make any sense to me

You crack me up with that polite ceo comment🤣

Do you plan a timely earnings video next week?
Of course!

@@moneytalksbyhjgwhiteyou could argue it will hurt earnings if it accelerates cable decline
