I really like your technique of brush rolling and smoothing the edges. The sepia lines are interesting. Lots of potential. Thank you for sharing your lesson learned.
Thank you so much Bettina I really really enjoyed watching you create this pretty and unique piece. I would definitely love ❤ to see those other two pieces that you mentioned. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤❤
i know your not to happy with this but i love it. Before you added the ink i could sea a face with a butterfly. and now is see a beautiful open clam shell is stunning.
Thank you! I never thought about rolling a brush. I'm going to do an abstract tomorrow and practice doing that. I go back and forth between abstract and more realistic and can see uses for these techniques in both. I liked your use of limited palette.
Your two previous works are so cute. The one does look like potatotes with eyes, and the blue and yellow looks like it has lots of legs. Love the pink work, it's gorgeous!
I love this SO much! I know what you mean about having a hard time not rounding off the corners. I would love to see how you did the other ones and I will check to see if you made another one and added a yellow wash. Thank you so much for talking about your thoughts as you worked on this. It’s so helpful and encouraging and I’m so inspired by you!
Thank you! I did post one, using yellow after this one, so if you haven't already found it, here it is 😊 ruclips.net/video/y4lhrxSIEGc/видео.htmlsi=pVmJ6VtsG5SThHTc
I found you by accident and so far I’ve watched 2 videos. Your approach to the process is so (I want to say innocent but not sure that is the word I’m looking for.) well dang I can’t think of the word I want. Unencumbered I think is closer to it. You’re a pleasure to watch. Looking forward to more.
I'm working on one that has a little of the yellow added and some rose-ish gold. It's got a completely different feel, and I'm curious to see what it's going to look like once the lines are added. I'll probably post it this week.
🥔🥔🥔🥔🥔😄 I actually LOVE this Pretty in Pink artwork 🥰 The pink and gold together are luscious and the completed piece brought me joy 😊 And the image that came to mind was, “clam shell” 😁
Love the colours here, Bettina. Yes….as you described your thoughts to us about the Neurographic lines towards the end of the video in your summing up , I could actually sense that was what you were thinking. I really do enjoy listening to you talk through the process and thoughts about what is happening …or not…. 🤪🤗 It is reassuring and encouraging to hear you describe your thoughts which resonate with so many of us. I think this is why so many of us connect with you and can relate to your work.
I love pink and brown tones together and so I love this work and the process. I especially appreciate your thoughts at the end…what you liked and didn’t, what you might do differently the next time. It’s perfectly ok and natural to not love every piece equally and to even not like a piece at all. That’s how we learn and improve. Thank you for your honesty on that.
I really like the result of rolling the brush. The sepia lines looked nice. Not as stark a contrast as the black lines. I do agree more random lines would have given you a much different look, but I did like the end result. If you are looking at dip pens with separate nibs, A "Nikko G" nib is a good nib to start with. It's much more forgiving than the more flexible nibs. A glass dip pen is nice for uniform lines.
Thank you so much! I ordered a ruling pen which arrived and I just tried out, and then I also ordered a pen with different size nibs, which I'm still waiting on. I'll be using the first one in my next video and see if it's giving me the effect I'm looking for. Thanks so much for the recommendations!
Im halfway thru the video and have to say im just loving this pic and the way you video. Your quiet music and your chatting with us as you paint. Im loving it all and will sub to your channel. I ordered the Art Nouveau WC set back on May 23 from Blick and its STILL on back order yntil end of September. I seriously dont think i will ever get it. Thanks for sharing your videos. ❤❤
Going to comment at the end now. I learned new things from watching you and i cant wait to try them too. I love that pink - all of it! The whole pic is right up my alley. Just gorgeous. Ill be watching all your videos now ❤️🥰
Well watching you for the very first time, I think you are being too hard on yourself. I am a doodler from way back. You are certainly right about using the same designs in your art. That is OK because they all seem to take a look of their own. I am not a watercolor artist at all, I just doodle because it relaxes me. I love the way the pink one turned out. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for that comment. I react on impulse and will often change my mind after. It's all part of my process. I don't take myself too seriously. I'm all about having fun. 😊
🥔😁This is one of my very most favorite pieces! So beautiful! I have never heard of a dotting tool (I'm also fairly new to art supplies) so I will have to look for one when I'm out shopping today! 😜 Also, I loved the music!
It's so funny, because as I'm replying to your comment, I see another comment saying they don't like the bottom part. I love hearing everyone's thoughts on my pieces. Thank you for your input 💕
Potato😆🥔 This piece is just lovely. Don't forget that sometimes we as artists are our own worst critic. And as we stare at our work in the process it becomes so familiar that it then turns into something old and less inspiring in our minds. But others truly love it. It's simply beautiful.
I agree with the "others love it" idea. Pink isn't really my color, but this was so good looking, I would try to do something like it to give to a pink loving friend.
You are so correct! And I often get over my initial feelings I express in my videos. I think I'm way too close to a piece, while I'm working on it. And after some time passes and I look at it again, I usually like it. Some colors I revisit more than others, this soft pink will definitely get another chance 😊 Thank you for your kind comment 💕
Loved the process and your experimentation. Loved the pink and sepia and gold. And really, really appreciated that you talked through how you felt about the result and the choices you made along the way. One of the most helpful things I've seen, Bettina. I loved how it came out, and your other pieces too - all of this together is such wonderful encouragement for our own experimentation. ❤
Why a common potato? That was so fun and relaxing to watch. Your voice is so nice to listen to while you create something so beautiful. Thank you for the ideas and inspiration. Just what I needed tonight.
When you said you ordered a new tool, it tied in with what I was thinking when you were applying the lines with the bottle dropper tip. I just purchased a brass dip pen nib by Kakimori that I'm eager to try & this looks like a good place for its first use. Depending on the angle, it does very thin to extremely thick lines & holds a tremendous amount of ink in its long grooves, so you can do a very long line, larger circle, go back over to double line, add dots, etc.
I will look into that! I couldn't remember what it was called but now that I have it, mine is a ruling pen? I will be using it in my next video. I just tried it and it works, but I also ordered a pen with different size nibs, I can try out, just to give myself some options. Thank you for sharing!
I love the colours...Pink sepia and gold. Its funny how we have the habit of outlining things. Must be ingrained in us from playing with colouring books. May we all learn how to colour outside the lines!!! Your approach to keeping the initial background simple and not so controlled (switching to left hand etc) is what I have learned from this. So thank you.
I loved how you talked your entire way through your process. And personally, I think it came out wonderful!! Love the different shapes and textures and of course, your great doodles! Rock On!!
It is so fabulous watching your creativity… and thoughts. The colours are beautiful and fascinated to see you create another piece in this style which makes you excited. Thank you as always for taking the time to share❤
Aww, thank you so much! To be honest, I didn't think so many would love the softer pinks! I'm fascinated by all the comments coming in! Glad you enjoyed the video 💕

I love your work and am delighted to have discovered your channel. Potato rocks, hmmm that made me giggle! I like the washed down sepia ink look. Great videos.
Welcome! I'm so glad you're here! You know, I just got some nibs and a nib holder and I've been practicing with them, and so far I love it! And as a bonus, hopefully it'll cut down on plastic waste. I don't like throwing all those dead pens in the trash. Thank you so much for the tip!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you found me! I've been bouncing around a lot, exploring different mediums, styles and techniques and I'm slowly figuring out what brings me joy! So many possibilities!!!

I’m old. But my mother was older. She called this color Ashes of Roses, which I always thought was very romantic, and I’ve always loved it.
Potato. I think it looks great. Love the pink. You so inspire me and also make me visit Amazon far to often to be healthy 😱
Your two previous works are so cute. The one does look like potatotes with eyes, and the blue and yellow looks like it has lots of legs. Love the pink work, it's gorgeous!
I was wondering if someone would mention the eyes on the potatoes, haha!
Yes, me! All 3 potatoes had rather surprised eyes looking out at us 😂
