The only two pieces of "original" music for the film were the two arrangements of Erik Satie' Gnossiennes #4 & #5 which were re-titled "The Room Upstairs" and "Goodbye Louise" respectively. There isn't really enough original music to warrant a dedicated soundtrack release but it could certainly be released as part of a compilation of Mandel's work.
Never getting tired by Hal's films
Beautiful music. Perfect for the excellent film. Super story.
Based on Satie, exisitential.French compositions from the 1890s.
This movie's a perfect example of a lighthearted movie, but with just enough of a dark undertone to truly make you feel
My favourite film of all time. I have spent decades trying to find the soundtrack
Best work of Peter Sellers! All his life pointed to this masterpiece!
A masterpiece. Truly a work of art
A fitting piece for a brilliantly understated film. Thanks.
Oh hey, its you.
I like to watch.
You.
1979 THE BEST MOVIE
This is a beautiful, beautiful track, to a beautiful film.
I watched t his film with my dad. Those were the good old days.
It's a very pleasant room, Ben.
All I've got left is the room upstairs
Well , that’s what they say …
I like to watch.
"You go tell Raphael....."😂❤😢
Life is a state of mind
this film is more real than you think, look at the symbols.
Life...1:57 is a state of mind.
My favourite phrase of all time. My motto I will always live for.

love this film...
delightfully haunting ....but very heavily derived from Erik Satie's 'Gnossienne No. 4'
.
It's just a Gnossienne 4 variation. "Goodbye Louise" is the other song which is just a Gnossienne 5 variation. They are both so beautiful.
it is gnossienne 4. it's just re-interpreted
I almost thought it was a different version of it
Yes, thank you for pointing that out. I knew it was Satie, but could not name the piece.
I believe mr Gardner is advising Mr Biden
Poesia
sublime
Bravo !!!
It is a pastiche/rearrangement on Satie's Gnossienne #4
Genius
You're welcome :) ,
this is the only version i found online.
I m sorry if it's not the same.
"Good morning, Louise."

I recall seeing an interview upon release where Sellers said he based his character on Stan Laurel.
Peter Sellers had the cornerstone on oddball characters. He said in interviews that he based his character of Gardner on Stan Laurel.
just the voice was based on Laurel
@@davidmack8021 No the entire character is based on Laurel. You can tell. The same quiet, simpleton gestures.
Magica melodia, genio de compositor.
Satie around and Sellers incredible.
All I have left is the room upstairs
This theme reminds me of Gnossiene by Erik Satie.
I thought exactly the same...in fact i've been searching Satie's pieces looking for it.
@@stevenpayne984 Gnossiene 4 and 5

alguien sabe quie es el compositor de esta hermosa melodías?? gracias!!!!
+Marianela Castelliti it is johnny Mandel
+Marianela Castelliti El compositor es el francese Erik Satiè, pero Jonny Mandel la interpretò en su manera.
don't know this A!
Where did you find this, please?
@Rafael Nunes Duarte Thanks. I'm aware of that but the soundtrack to Being There has never been released. That is why I asked the question.
I have the same question.. Has the soundtrack finally been released?
@@carlettosan If it has, there is no record of it anywhere.
@@Grim177 on IMDB it looks like it was a selection of 9 separate tracks...

Reminiscent of Erik Satie.
I thought this movie was improbable until George W. was elected.
