I am no technical genius, nor an idiot. But I followed this video after buying a replacement screen and after about 45 minutes, my phone was as good as new. The easiest thing I have ever done and I am certain I saved myself in excess of £100. After completely smashing my Nexus 5, I replaced it for just £60. Not bad! Thanks Fixez for the tutorial, very clear, and contrary to other comments, you didn't miss anything out.
Cheers. Stephen.UK
I followed this video step by step and I successfully replaced my Nexus 5 screen. The video is very well explained. One small thing was that the author forgot to mention was when you reassemble your Nexus 5, you need to remove from your old phone the volume and on/off rocker and put them into your new Nexus 5 frame. A really great video, congratulations to Fixez.com
Changed my screen in 40 minutes since the turnoff til the turnon with this video. Worst problem was the battery. The glue was too sticky and it even bent a little. I got f'ing scared, cuz I know how Lithium batteries are dangerous, but I managed to remove it and place in the new frame.
Thank you A LOT! Keep up the good work!
This was a great how-to video. I was able to swap out my girlfriend's broken screen with a new screen and digitizer just like the video in a short time. I dont usually write reviews but I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to upload such a well put together video. If you have no experience with this sort of thing like myself, don't be discouraged as this tutorial can painlessly walk you through the swap step by step.
come across to your video and found enthusiastic to repair my broken phone by myself. I ordered the part and have no problem with the replacement process after all. Thanks and useful video
Thanks a whole lot Fixez, I ordered my replacement screen with the frame and it shipped fast, I replaced it with relative ease and everything works parfectly! Great vid also, couldn't have done it without it!
One thing to note though is that the notification light has no designated hole in the replacement part...
great video Fixez i assembled my phone within 30 minutes and this was the first time i ever did any type of phone repair. I enjoyed how thorough you were in details and how to take out each component, cameras, speakers, phone port ext..
Thank you again and Ill defiantly mention you guys to friends!
+Vaughn You're welcome, we appreciate all the support.
Very thorough video, many thanks! As others have mentioned, don't forget to move your power and volume rocker buttons or you'll be prying open your phone again.
Also, the screen assembly I had came with adhesive already applied under thin blue plastic strips. If you have those, just peel them up gently to leave the adhesive and then place your components firmly.
+Brad H Thank you for the feedback, we highly appreciate it.
Thanks for this video!
I just replaced my screen (phone was ran over by at least one car, maybe more, when it fell off the roof of the car into traffic!) following your instructions and it went really well.
The only hitch was the new frame I bought didn't have buttons, and I forgot to take the power/volume buttons out of the old frame, so I had to go back and take it apart again and put the buttons back in!
After reassembling, it works perfectly!
This video made me do something I never thought I could do.
You guys rock.
Thank you very much, with this tutorial I change my broken Nexus5 screen! In the real life, removeing of some part was a bit fustrating, but finally I got my working phone back!
Excellent tutorial. Second time I have used this as a guide to replace my screen. Waded through the last 12 odd months of youtube history to find it again! Thanks guys.
+mattieb3152 Glad our video helped. Thanks for watching.
Still rockin the nexus 5
Excellent walk-through video. My Nexus 5 is now fixed. Thanks a lot!
Brilliant tutorial thank you. All fixed up and looking good. Although you make it look a lot easier than it is. I guess everything is already unstuck when you take it out.
The rear camera was the hardest, and actually one of the tiny chips came off, not immediately, but when I was installing it in the new frame. But I was able to stick it back on again with a small bit of adhesive! Quite surprised it worked... maybe it won't soon!
Other than the volume and power buttons mentioned by others, there was also a housing for the earpiece speaker that needed to be transferred.
Great video - I followed step by step and it went very smoothly. Thanks!
Great video..just got my display+frame replacement, going at it tonight. Will share how it went
Some additional tips:
1. Remove your sim card tray. Its much easier to re-position your motherboard without it. Put it back in after you finish the repair.
2. Don't forget to move your power and volume buttons from your old to your new screen assembly. They forgot to mention it in the video.
3. Some parts are glued very firmly in place - a heat gun might come in handy.
+Captain Kole I'm about to perform this operation, thanks for the tips.
thanks for the intention of helping- just an fyi (i have no intention of being a "dick/know it all")but they do say to move your volume and power buttons over to the replacement part EG: when he says move your components over to the replacement part he's refering to the volume buttons and power button etc.
This is a fantastic guide. Really informative and easy to follow. Worked perfectly! :)
Thank you for the video. It was a real money saver. The people checked to repair it was charging waaaay too much money. Blessings from Jamaica!
+Geoff Clarke Thank you for watching!
Video did the trick, thanks! Only 2 extras I had to do; Transfer the housing around the headphone jack, Transfer the power button over and bend the plastic tab it was rubbing on so it operated smoothly (had to open case again when it wouldn't turn on because button was stuck in). Minor points and now my phone is now fixed.
Great tutorial! Thanks a lot! One word of advise: Some of the components are glued in there pretty good. So, you'll have to work to get them out, but be careful because they may break easily.
Successfully replaced the screen following the instructions. Thank you!
Thanks! helped me allot, did exactly as said and works with no problems at all.
I used my Nexus 5 with a cracked screen for a few months -- a little Duct tape and Gorilla glue served as a stop-gap measure. I couldn't bring myself to "upgrade" to a Nexus 6 (too big, and too expensive).
Long story short, the video inspired me to fix the phone with the Fixez kit -- looks and works factory fresh... money well spent.
Everything is working for me after re-assembly. Thank you for the video! Be careful with the back (main) camera as it is glued in pretty strong. Go slow and make sure you don't break the circuit board at the bottom of the camera. I would recommend grabbing the sides of main body of the camera. Also go very slow at the bottom of the phone under the speaker. The circuit stuff is very thin so be careful when detaching it. Don't forget to move the buttons. It's not explained in the video (I think) but make sure the buttons attach to the phone itself in the small black attachment points (one for each button).
Followed the tutorial and had my Nex 5 back in working condition. Took about an hour (I went SLOW) but it was relatively simple. Wish I had seen your store before I bought my parts elsewhere, since your prices are cheaper. :-) Next time...
Thanks! I just purchased the new screen from your link earlier today :)
My N5 is now fixed, Thanks for the great video!
Thank you! Your video helped me to repair my wife's Nexus 5 without a problem!
Great video, thanks! I completed the replacement with no problems. On my replacement digitizer, I had to move the earpiece housing and the side buttons from the old one to the new. Those two items weren't in the video. Just thought I'd mention it in case it helps someone else out!
Very clear instructions, thank you
Hi,
I've to do this job later on today, this video is the perfect primer, thanks!
Going to trade my Blackberry Z10 for a Nexus 5 with a cracked screen and will use this tutorial. It's very well done and informative. Thank you.
It Works fine. remember to buy the Toolkit!!! it took me 30 mins. never done it before.
Thanks guys, this was really helpful.
thank you for this, perfect...the only slight thing is the rocker switches for the volume /power need moving
It worked!! Great vid. Thanks Fixez
Decent walkthrough. A couple of things worth mentioning though:
1. Remember to take the protective plastic off of the terminals of the new screen or you will put it back together and the connections won't work (camera, speaker etc.)
2. Make sure you take the volume and power buttons out of the old case
3. Depress the power button when putting the motherboard back in and it will release when it pops back in to place.
4. I found it easier to put the rear facing camera in after inserting the motherboard.
Question: My volume up button only works when the screen is unlocked, and it gets stuck so I have to let it turn all the way up and then adjust down. Also vibration doesn't work anymore. Any ideas on how to fix before I give up and splash out on a Nexus 6p?
Thanks a lot!!!! My N5 works very well now with its brand new screen !
thank you very much! your tutorial is awesome! God bless you! i'm so happy that worked! thank you!
Thanks mate, very helpful !
Thank you, this video was super helpful!
Thanks man, you helped me a lot along with another video, I've successfully replaced my LCD, battery, and USB port for only 40 quid

+lola 111 Happy to hear that your repair was successful. Thanks for the support.
Thanks a lot for the easy to follow tutorial! Helped me fix my phone :)
You're welcome, thank you for watching!
Worked great, thanks very much!! Like others, I had to use my brain and move a few minor parts over... but no worries. Just take your time with it and use the proper tools with good lighting and it should work!
Thank you very much! Worked like a charm.

You're welcome, thank you for watching!
Awesome. Perfect tutorial, thanks!
Just so people know, remember to take out the volume rocker and power button to transplant into the new case as well. Otherwise amazing video and product, my new screen is beautiful!
Thank you very much
Looks like the operation was a success :) thanks!
Did you use their (fixez's) display assembly? Would you say it's the same as the original screen (brightness, contrast, quality, etc?
Great video. I had success with the parts I ordered from this website. However, the "spudger" broke by the end of the job, and don't forget to replace your rocker volume button and power button.
+Anson Chappell Thank you for the support. The spudger is plastic and in all honesty meant for a one time repair. All in all we're glad to hear you were successful with your repair.
Thanks for the vid, lifesaver!
Great guide. Very well done. Everything went smooth for me w/ the exception of the rear facing camera, I cracked off one of the two small chips on that board. The camera still works great though :/
Very helpful! Thanks!
+Gabriel Matossian Thank you for watching!
It works very great :)
Thanks !!!
Thank you, helped a lot
at my nexus 5... its only the glass broken...screen is working perfect. can i change only the first layer glass instead of buy new screen ?
cheers, worked perfectly
Thanks for the help. There were a couple parts you didn't cover and I had to take it all apart again but its done and my phone looks good as new. Thanks!
***** I put my phone back together and realized that I didn't have a volume rocker or power button on my phone so I looked on the old body and found the pieces there and transferred them over. This wasn't covered in the video but it was pretty easy to figure out.
Thanks a lot for the video, it was a great help. You forgot to mention that the housing for the ear speaker needs to be transferred onto the new screen assembly. I realized it was missing from the replacement part but didn't think that it was transferable.. Otherwise, awesome video!
+Stephen Ramutin Thank you for pointing this out.
thanks for the vid it really helped me fix my screen
+spookytrain productions No problem, thank you for watching.
Thanks a lot! Fixed my phone successfully.
+Bader Zaidan You're welcome, thank you for watching!
Perfect, very easy and detailed. God bless You
***** you welcome. My front speaker doesn't work, my phone is perfectly fine I have to put it on speaker every time I receive a call. What can I do?
***** thank you, perfecto
so they do sell the screen and digitizer with the bezels you were talking about? what do I need to look for when buying?
Great video, but I think that my connection between the charging port and the motherboard broke. Is there any solution?
many thanks Sir :) :) very well explained :) You made my day :D
+mounaim zaryouhi Thank you for watching, we appreciate the support.
excelente!! me sirvió mucho, ahora tengo nueva pantalla! :D
Thanks! This tutorial easily helped me change my cracked screen!
Th
What do the Coaxial cables do? My back cover wasn't snapped in properly and when I took it off to attempt to get it flush I noticed one is broken. I haven't noticed any issues yet, but I'm curious what I might experience.
Thank you.. done it successfully on my nexus :)
+Vinoy Antony You're welcome, thank you for the support.
thank you so much , you saved a life today ! have a thumbs up (y)
Great video! A few days ago I dropped mine... ouch!
Does it make a difference which version (D820 or D821) screen I will buy to fit it to my D820?
Are D820 and D821 screens identical and interchangeable?
Thx!
I just replaced the screen on my friends Nexus 5, using this tutorial and the product you sell. It really was an amazingly easy process, so thank you. However, I'm now slightly worried I steered her in the wrong direction. The replacement sold on etradesupply is listed as OEM Gorilla Glass 3 and is a comparable price, however your product is listed as OEM compliant and does not specify what kind of glass it is. It feels like tempered glass, is that correct?
which is the lcd connector if I just wanted to reconnect it back, half of my nexus 5 screen became dull, and other still ok, wondering if its only connection problem
I did it and everything is working perfectly. But the replacement frame I received didn't have any adhesive in the main camera housing. So my camera is only being held in place by it's attachment to the logic board and the plastic casing that goes on top of that. The camera is working fine, I was just wondering if this would be a cause for concern?
Hello, I bought a Nexus 5 not too long ago and am having nothing but problems with it. Recently my touch screen and screen itself haven't been functioning properly and I have to press on certain areas on the back of the phone to get the touch and screen too work. Where would you recommend buying replacement parts and what would I be replacing to have the touch screen and screen to function again? Plus my ear piece and speaker have been having issues.
Actually everything worked fine, I replaced the screen as in the video, but now I do see black lines in the middle of my screen. The touch function works perfectly though. I was hoping it might be me connecting the connectors badly. What part of the motherboard actually deals with the LCD screen ? Many thanks for your help!
The screen just cracked on my white nexus 5 :(. I'm just wondering can I replace the front housing and screen with the black nexus 5 housing? It would save taking the glass off and I think it would look well. Thanks
I used a similar frame/screen to fix my nexus 5, but when I put it together again it would not connect to the camera. I redid all the connections a few times and my camera worked in the old frame/screen. Would you have any idea why the cameras are not working?
Thank you Sir!
+Karim Kenawy You're welcome, thank you for watching!
Great video! Worked out just fine. My only problem is my LED that doesn't work anymore.
Your back light or your display?
Hi my screen powers on but its just completely red n everytime I reboot the color changes to completely green or some other color. I can also hear the screen touching stuff by its self ... What do you think the problem is?
I need a rear camera lens (back housing over the logic board) where could I get one ?
I just ordered a replacement glass screen from eBay for a mere €5 (just the glass, not the digitizer or anything underneath)
You said in on of your comments down there that the glass and LCD are fused together, Will I be able to detach the glass?
That's the only part I need, I don't want to spend €175 on a whole replacement LCD.
thanks
Used this video to replace my screen and it went well. Thank you.
Hi sir I need help. I don't know what is the broken part of my nexus 5. The screen of my phone is flickering, the touch screen isn't working and there's a red line in the upper part of the screen.
a question whould my nexus work without the white coaxial cable? because I broke it
Thanks bro
