Guy seems like such a good dude. He even knows his backing vocalists. And he is proud to see her rock the stage.
I mean Guy should have some brain cells left to recognise fellow backing vocalists............
At the start, I would not like her. But as I listened intently, she has this quality voice that comes beautifully while she is reaching a high note. Beautiful. powerful!

I live in the USA and am just seeing this. I agree 100%. She is fantastic. I love her voice. She doesn’t go full throttle. She builds to a peak in the performance. I was a singer when I was younger. I look at things still from a singer’s perspective. She is a singer’s singer. We recently had a guy named Pete Mroz in the USA Voice. He was friends with Judge Blake Shelton. Blake did not take Pete, I was so upset. Pete had a real shot and Blake didn’t take him because he thought people would think he was helping him in my opinion. That really upset me. I am so glad Guy did not do that to her.

That may be true; but would you feel the same as one of the other contestants on Guy’s team? The conflict of interest was palpable. Especially with him constantly saying “she’s my friend”.
Ditto on that, she earned her way up there.

I have a theory. Mind you, I haven’t seen the other contestants, but it is a theory still.
I’d randomly stumbled on this video on YT, haven’t heard about Chynna before. I have a few years of vocal training, so, while I’m by no means a musician - i do have an understanding of what can and can not be done with vocal expression.
And she blew me away with her “Papa don’t preach” interpretation. So, by the last round i was completely on her bandwagon. If i was biased -
It was in her and Guy’s favor. And i love “Jolene” - probably my favorite country song.
But as soon as i heard Chynna’s actually singing it, i went “oh, no!”. It is not a good diva song - you can’t sing it expressing just confidence and dominance. I mean, you certainly can and should have confidence in your vocals, but the song is a desperate plea with a calm acknowledgment, that Jolene can take everything from you, just by existing. And they’ve made it into “please, Jolene, but also fuck you, because I’m better than you” song. Also the arrangement was a bit strange, and the I think it did no justice to Chynna’s voice. I’m not talking about the high stuff - that was great. But the calm “speaking” parts felt a bit muddy, as if i couldn’t quite hear or feel the weight of the first lines - and it is very important with this song.
Basically, the approach to this song - given the circumstances and Chynna’s abilities - was misguided. And it is a pity, because she’d certainly shown, that she has all the instruments and understanding to perform it on the highest level.
I see it as a coaching experiment went “not optimal”, and i do hope she is doing exceptionally well today.

I absolutely love when an artist takes another artist's song and makes it their own not duplicating with the original artist has done. Awesome job
I like the fact that she is not trying to imitate someone else. Her voice is very unique and great range.

Whoa, that battle was incredible. Those ladies put their hearts on that stage and fed off each other’s energy. Loved it!
She is a very powerful and versatile vocalist ... I felt the power ...
Six years ago my daughter & granddaughter, who live with her two younger brothers in Sippy Downs Queensland, went to a Guy Sebastian concert. My granddaughter was holding a huge sign up.....which said that that day was her 13th birthday. Guy noticed it & very kindly made Faith an extremely happy young lady by calling her up on stage & invited the audience to join him as he sang “Happy Birthday” to her. That was one of the biggest highlights of her life. We’re Canadians. My daughter & husband (divorced now) moved their three children from Ontario Canada to Sippy Downs in ‘08. They’ve lived there now for eleven years. Faith is now a beautiful 19 year old.

I love when artists are humble enough to take time out for things like 13 year olds in the middle of concerts. On my 15th birthday Pierce the Veil did the same for me and gave me a bunch of signed “birthday” merch after, it meant so much, couldn’t of been happier, they’re very down to earth. It always makes me happy to hear that other people had similar experiences with bands/singers they loved growing up as well, there’s nothing quite like an idol showing kindness.
(On an unrelated note her accent must be really interesting moving at that age!)

Holy shit. That season of Voice of Australia was packed with incredible talent, there are like 4 or 5 people on that stage at the end that could've won or been a runner-up in almost every other season.
How could she not get enough votes? She's so wholesome! Her voice is legendary, this could be the next Céline Dion right here. I could listen a whole album from here for sure. Damn how could people miss that I'm confused af
I am almost assured it is because someone signed her and as such the votes went to someone else. Imo it the only thing making sense as she was crazy talented.

She has such a great gift. The tessitura of her voice is so distinctive, full of warmth, and emotions. She always gave me goosebumps. Although I love her voice, could you guys appreciate the backup vocal on her performance of "Alone". Dang!!! That girl can hit skyscrapers with her voice.
