I still have one in 2012, It's fantastic. For someone like myself who doesn't do much gaming in terms of android apps it's a power house for things like browsing the internet, watching movies, catching up on TV shows. I do play emulators on it for the Snes and it works excellent. Best of it all, it works as a phone for calls and texts. Can't see myself changing the phone until this one breaks to be honest... dont need anymore power.
I've been playing with both iPhone and with Google Nexus One at work. Perhaps it's the open platform, but still I just loved Nexus One. Soon after that I bought HTC Desire, and I'm sooo in love with it. :) I like Apple's products (I don't own any of them) and I know how good they are, but Android just beats the crap out of Apple in the phone market. And this is from a man that is open to everything. And still on the IT-business. I think everyone should really try both and then make the decision.
Ive had this phone for a year and a half still works perfectly runs just as fast as my friends sg2 it is extremely sturdy too drop on concrete numerous times the aluminum frame gets scratched but it makes it look rough and good
For those complaining about the battery , I've rooted my phone and installed a cooked ROM and the battery now is very very good , Also solved other problems in the mobile . It's a nice phone but the camera is bad for a 600$ phone (In my country) . NB : rooting your phone voids warranty !! but makes it ultimately free.
As a smartphone, the Desire is ahead of anything out there currently. It has the best browsing experience, a great screen, good camera, the ability to create and edit documents via "documents-to-go", great mapping, top processor, as well as a smooth GUI. You're not restricted with what you can do as with iphone, and you have better stability and looks than Symbian. Iphone 4 is basically the same as a 3GS. Curious about the 1.5Ghz HTC Scorpion though...
I get mine on wednesday, can't wait. i first wanted to buy an iphone 4. but the price is insane, for basically only HD functions and multi-tasking (which was also possible on a jailbroken device) GO HTC
I think alot of people are saying a nice update because SO many complaints about the menu keys that didn't really always touch. The separate buttons on the bottom now are SO much easier to navigate
had mine about a month now, £17 a month on 3, 500mins or texts, great camera, video, internet, sat nav, games, mp3 player, radio, torch, bar code scanner, etc. battery lasts about a day on heavy use, 9/10.
@fanorth Sorry I disagree. The stock Android 2.1 looks better to me (I have the Hero). Plus how long are you going to have to wait for future upgrades? It takes a lot of time for the sence UI to be upgraded. Nexus One gets the upgrades day 1.
@sirmakkie Yes 4G is only available via WiMax towers. Although they need fewer towers because of it's long range, it's also a whole lot faster on download. But upload speeds so far (in USA) are slower than 3G on LTE. LTE is what you have in Sweden it's here in USA too. But it is not full 4G spec!
very nice phone! im glad htc offeres a real alternative to the nexus one. and it's supposed to be released at the beginning of april. good for the european users, who are still waiting for the nexus one to be released..
@pyrofreakdan Hi there, i bought HTC desire yesterday but couldnt get a chance of starting it. So i started on with it this evening. Anyway its an amazing phone to play with. By the way how do you download applications like msn messanger, yahoo etc. and how does MS quick office work.
My father wants to change his HTC desire against my Iphone 3gs is it worth it? What´s positive/negativa about it? My father says that you can get more programs on a HTC.
The only thing I miss on these phones is a Flashlight. I have it on my current phone, a old Sony Ericsson with two powerful LED lights, and I can't live without it. I use it almost everyday. Why aren't there any flashligts on modern phones like iPhone, HTC, Google etc?
@zbox720 don't worry about apps....there's a heck of a lot more coming. Android OS is just over a year old and new apps are appearing on a daily basis. Go for it! The Desire looks killer!
@XombieJer I totally agree with you, I like open sources OS either . I just mean that there are lots of high quality apps for the Iphone , but much fewer for the Android devices. however I believe this will be changed . have you played those new 3D games produced by gameloft ? they are really cool XD
you have a point there, but remember iphone has matured and evolved since it's release in 2007. Android OS is only over a year old and still in it's infancy, I know many android converts from iphone, not because the iphone is bad, but because android is open-architecture, and, and very customizable. But all in all , what does it matter what you have, iphones, androids, blackberrys do basically the same thing, surf, talk text, only with a difference in hardware and graphic interface.
What are the HTC's like in the long run. 2 of my mates have them and they both had to get them sent away in the first 4 months to get repaired. is this just unlucky or is it common for them to break down after a few months?
I got the HTC Desire and i must say it is simply amazing. It has not so much aplications like iPhone buti it is groving. It has a beautiful screen, amazing games, beutiful wallpapers and so much more. Its a phone that is worth buying. Java, Flash and ewerything else is in so the internet works perfect. It has Adobe reader. And you even can instal a emulator for gameboy DS! amazing i simply love this phone. i deare to say that it is better than iPhone 4G
im hearing this will be available in the states by mid april-ish!!! dunno what the hell there doin as far as carriers go.. cant wait for verizon, at&t, or sprint to pick this bad boy up!!!!
customisation is the key factor... IOS=good luck.. Android=Whatever you want....look deeper and you will find android will do whatever you want it to do
@valkyrieXX sry to disappoint u but a iphone itself is manufactured by different company for its different components therefore, manufactured in USA doesnt mean everything on the phone or its components comes from the same location.
Nothing still beats the iphone's touchscreen. The desire seems smooth and responsive, but I don't know. There's just something about the iphone's sensitivity that seems more fluid, smooth and more organic. But this seems like a good phone as well.
@mazmorbid You actually seen this up close? Looks gorgeous. Especially the AMOLED screen, which even the iPhone 4 won't have. Animated wallpapers, and widgets make this currently the best looking device going.
@rabieschu You misunderstood me what I meant was when someone rings you on the HTC Desire is there an option to mute the ringtone as opposed to just hanging up? I know this can be done on all Nokia phones but how about HTC? Im interested in getting 1.
What's it like and how does it feel while typing with the tradition method holding is vertically and using your thumbs? What I mean is not qwerty but the classic way. Also, when someone rings, is there an option to put it on mute instead of just hanging up like with Nokia phones? If some one knows anyof this, please let me know. Thanks in advance. I'm looking to get a nice looking touchsceeen like this for a change as Ive always had Nokia's, but I would never get an iPhone. This does more aswel.
@rnee67 yes as u said there is only one iphone and many android phones in the market but why is it not selling like the iphone? and why are they making many android phones? coz they are still not able to beat that one iphone... i agree with the specs , practically speaking why do u need more specs than what the iphone (3gs) has?
@ranger1944omaha .. ive had two htc's and my current one started crashing from day 2.. i thought it was just a faulty product but now reading your comment im wondering, maybe HTC phones don't last long at all.. do you think HTC just have problems with making responsive phones or we just got the faulty phones?
@thirteenfingers Unfortunately Apple, as always, restrict you using your device as it could be used. When you say video calling would be nice on the road, you can't do that, it's over wifi only, and then only to other iphone 4s.
i now have the htc desire after having the iphone for 2 years but my iphone went for a swim and decided to get something different. over tmy time with the iphone i thought it was the best phone ever made but i never liked how limited you are with the iphone but the app store is amazing. once i got the desire i realised how crap the iphone is the multi touch is much better and the screen os outstanding(in the dark maybe not in the sun) the speed it does things is unbelievalbe.
I have a question when you order/buy this 1 without a provider just prepaid can i still get on the android market without any costs and will the weather widget update without using any internet?
@SmokinMesa I had an issue with the lack of those aswell, but the htc Desire has beter RAM and the new Sense UI. Also some time there will be an app out that will be like google voice, or google will allow it onto other android phones. But there is always a cost when choosing between phones :)
@mxmus08 I dont think the battery time will be a problem when its AMOLED display that i more energysaving than the previous one for example on the HTC Hero. :)
@CobHatecrewNor I've heard the same things. After thinking about it I'm not fussed about a keyboard as I'm used to the touch screen -being the owner of an iTouch - plus, even though it's apparently strong I can imagine myself breaking the push mechanism on the Z. Plus, the Desire is said to be one of the best smart/android phones if I'm correct (?) Thank you for your advice! :)
@SonyCamry Android is the OS (Operating System) used in this phone. The competition would be Windows Mobile. Oh, and Google is your friend, search "android operating system" for a detailed answer.
is it just me, or does the old Sense 2.1 / 2.5 seemed more practical / functional than this version? Dunno, seems like with 2.1 / 2.5 I can do things faster?
DOES ANY 1 NOTICE WHEN LOOKING AT THE SCREEN IN THE LIGHT THE SCREEN HAS SOME FAINT LINES WHICH LOOK LIKE SCRATCHES I JUST BOUGHT THE PHONE AND NOTICED IT IN THE LIGHT
i'm little bit confused now, which one better, samsung galaxy s, htc desire, htc desire hd(coming soon in my country). iphone 4, or bb torch 9800? and please give me the reasons.thankss..:D
Just ordered one of these after seeing loads of reviews of it. Looks awesome, can't wait!
I still have one in 2012, It's fantastic. Can't see myself changing the phone until this one breaks to be honest... dont need anymore power.
I ordered mine like a month ago and I just can't wait. Takes forever! But I'll have it in my hand around the 12th of April. As I said, can't wait!
My lovely one... It was an honour to use u for last 2 years. The king is dead long live the ONE X
I've been playing with both iPhone and with Google Nexus One at work. Perhaps it's the open platform, but still I just loved Nexus One. Seriously, HTC know their stuff when it comes to making a proper Android phone. I can't wait for this to come out in Dubai at Axiom.
@LondonForever75 Here here! You hit the proverbial nail on the head LondonForever75! The prices per se are outrageous! Best wishes.
im hearin this will be available in the states sometime by mid april!!! cant wait for this!!
It's very good that the batons are not touch sensitive.
Got one yesterday on a Telstra contract.
It's an amazing piece of technology.
Ive had this phone for a year and a half still works perfectly runs just as fast as my friends sg2 it is extremely sturdy too drop on concrete numerous times the aluminum frame gets scratched but it makes it look rough and good

NB : rooting your phone voids warranty !! but makes it ultimately free.
I have never used the nexus one, but this looks so much better, more refined, and modern, just looks cleaner and more fluid, hope it comes to tmobile

GO HTC
Got my Desire on Saturday. To say the least, it is an awesome phone.
There is also a phone called the HTC Supersonic that looks like this as well, similar specs. Rumored to be coming to Sprint this year.
yes. HTC specification page says " * Internet sharing through USB". There are also apps on the market for that.
I think alot of people are saying a nice update because SO many complaints about the menu keys that didn't really always touch. The separate buttons on the bottom now are SO much easier to navigate

Desire is so good i bought it at 5/4 Still love it!!
@McLawlz
what do u mean? the desire was released before the incredible. theyre similar looking devics and both use the same sense UI.
Get my Desire few days ago...Really awesome phone, and super nice in WHITE version...haha
I never knew ShockofGod did mobile phone reviews! way to branch out, buddy!
@fanorth Sorry I disagree. The stock Android 2.1 looks better to me (I have the Hero). Plus how long are you going to have to wait for future upgrades? It takes a lot of time for the sence UI to be upgraded. Nexus One gets the upgrades day 1.

Yes, Just ordered mine just now.
@XGlitchManX I think i go for this one mate. But should i buy it with subscription or without. Not realy sure though.
I got one in Dubai from a place called Axiom. Killer phone, man.
@SquidKhaw Ok , I can tell you guys that I got this phone yesterday and all I can say is wow. It's so good. So smooth and feels awesome in your hand.
this phone was great when I had it, but now I have my iPhone and don't miss the desire much
@Dilekz
i think it records D1 (like moto droid / milestone) @30fps. D1 is 720x480
@pyrofreakdan Hi there, i bought HTC desire yesterday but couldnt get a chance of starting it. So i started on with it this evening. Anyway its an amazing phone to play with. By the way how do you download applications like msn messanger, yahoo etc. and how does MS quick office work.

Man, Im not sure if Im gonna buy this phone or not? What do you think...?
HTC Desire or the HTC HD Mini? Which one would you advice me to get?

I love HTC. The best of the best!
quietly briliant!

@F0rdaz how is the desire compared to iphone? i had iphone before and now im thinking about buying a desire.. is it a better phone? :)

what should i buy htc desire or htc hd2??
which came first HTC desire or HTC wildfire ?
hi thanks...btw does this phone have a adobe flash for a full web experience?
Still a great phone, even after 2 years
Looks like a great phone!

jeez man, you're on the internet! just to proove how easy that is to answer, one sec on google... 5 megapix, and led flash. simples!
I got one for christmas and I love it, only downfall is how quickly the battery life gets eaten up...
The Desire has the better specs and the Legend has the better look.
customisation is the key factor... IOS=good luck.. Android=Whatever you want....look deeper and you will find android will do whatever you want it to do
this or wildfire, which is better?
@malakautube Who are you to decide what phone competes with what type of phone?
@valkyrieXX sry to disappoint u but a iphone itself is manufactured by different company for its different components therefore, manufactured in USA doesnt mean everything on the phone or its components comes from the same location.
which is batter, this or htc magic?
Nothing still beats the iphone's touchscreen. The desire seems smooth and responsive, but I don't know. There's just something about the iphone's sensitivity that seems more fluid, smooth and more organic. But this seems like a good phone as well.
@SonyCamry I think is like the operating system of the phone, like windows or unix correspond to compputers
which oneee??iphone 4 or htc incredible s or desire s?
should i get this or the nexus one, spoilt for choice??
@gallya
hmm..so i think galaxy s is diffrent classes from iphone4, iphone4 way better from sgs right? iphone4 has html5?
@F0rdaz where did you get it from. I've looked at the Att site but it's not showing? I am interested in getting it as well
@mazmorbid You actually seen this up close? Looks gorgeous. Especially the AMOLED screen, which even the iPhone 4 won't have. Animated wallpapers, and widgets make this currently the best looking device going.
Will this be available for T-mobile? It looks really cool! :)

is android good for playing games? compared to iphone

im getting one next wednesday on pay day
CANT WAIT

Heard some ppl said that volume too low. Is tat true? I need my music but if desire's vol is too low, i might not wanna buy it...
this looks good. and its on vodafone! woop, bring on upgrade time in july
I have a question when you order/buy this 1 without a provider just prepaid can i still get on the android market without any costs and will the weather widget update without using any internet?
that phone looks cool, is it muti touch like the iphone? if it is im selling my iphone, and buy htc desire
apple was good, not anymore
i dont know which phone shall I buy..htc desire or samsung galaxy??
