Josh, I just want to say thank you. I'm very new to fishing and your videos are simple straight to the point. I've learned a whole lot from you in such a short time. Wish there were more youtubers like you. Thank you again.
Hi Josh, thank you for such clear instructions on these knots. Here's what I like about your video: outdoors at wood table with natural sunlight on your work, bright colored line is easy to see, and no distracting music in the background! Excellent. I will check out more of your content.
Struggled to tie the first one in practice, but found the second one really simple! Managed to land a 10lb mirror (my PB) the other day using this knot. I appreciate there are other things to take into consideration, but this is the knot I used to tie my mainline onto the hair rigs swivel and it proved successful! Thanks again 😊
my uncle taught me how to fish as a kid. he always said you only need to know 2 knots as a fisherman. the barrel knot & the palomar knot. hasnt led me wrong yet. happy fishing.
I'm taking my teenage daughter and her best friends camping this weekend on an all girls trip! Usually have my husband to tie the fishing knots, but not this round. Thank you!
Thank you so much Joshua, I am a new fisher and this is a kind of stuff that really helps people like us new fishers you’re very friendly to beginners I just want to say thank you -tiernan
I have used the first knot only for 50 years! Works every time. You can use your thumb to slide the knot down to the eye to tighten it up also, l never have to wet the line.
Dad taught me that first knot ur a lifesaver. Gonna go toss my little phoebe spoon for kicks. On my ugly stik jr from 1988. Back when they weren't at Walmart. God bless. Be safe. Lockdown in NJ. Still some sunnies i can play with.
My guy you really helped me out on this one lol was struggling with all the other dudes out here trying to show. Your angle of the camera is spot fucking on too which helped out big time! Taking the wife and the little one out tomorrow to the lake. The first toast of beer will be dedicated to you my brother, God bless!
Nice tutorial Joshua. The improved clinch knot is my go to knot, I use it in both fresh and salt water, and have caught some big fish on that knot. How about doing a video on the best knot to use with braided line.
14theroad1955 My favorite knot as well. Have you seen my knot playlist? Take a look and if you see something that I'm missing I will gladly do a tutorial on it.
Thanks for the reply. I'll have to go there and check it out, I had no idea you had a dedicated playlist for knots, cool. I'll let you know if I need help. Thanks Joshua.
Mr Joshua, I use a swivel whenever I use an inline spinner, example; rooster tail. I'd like to know if these knots are effective with braid. I am SURE about them with mono. Great tutorial, both simple and explained in an easier way than I have used. Thank You for the lesson! I SURE WISH you would go back to sleep so you can dream some more!!! lol God Bless ✝ and👍👍👍👍👍
Dino Harrison the clinch knot has additional step needed to make sure it doesn't slip, you have to run the line through the swivel eyelet twice and then tie.
Hello this is a great video. Very informative. I am a saltwater angler from Sri Lanka. I always wated to do away most of hardware in front of the lure. I am currently using a heavy fluro instead of wire trace we used to have in fear of losing lures to macs and kudas. For the convinience of changing lures what if i have a strong split ring instead of snaplock end of the fluro so that i can change lures using a plier. Its not as easy as using a snaplock but eliminates having too many hardware. What are my chances of damaging line with split ring end? Thanks heaps for very useful tips
Hey dude, i spent 3 hours jig fishing with the metal fish, no luck, then i loose everything to idk wat. So idk if i should jig or bait. But this was very useful to get goin again, thx so much
Hi josh, i usually fish with worms or jig (sometimes tipped with worm) and a slip float, question is if i use a swivel where should it be placed and where do i add my split shot sinker below or above the swivel?
yes.typically you do the leader side first, then attach that to the main line but it can be tricky as your pulling the whole leader through the polymer knot.in this case, switch to the uni knot, same strength knot and interchangable with a ploymar.
take a Kentucky rig,I would start with a poly on the sinker, then a poly on the hook, then figure 8 there for a six to 8 inch leader for that hook, then poly to a swivel.from here, you can then poly the mainline to that same swivel, but your pulling sinker, leader and hook through the loop.so here, you can just uni the mainline to the swivel.
basically, learn both the uni and ploymar.those 2 will meet litterally 98-99% of all your fishing needs lol.there will be very few exceptions, like a bobber stop knot or snelling a hook.even tying on jigs and cranks can be done by a uni variant resulting in a loop knot.and line to line connections are done by uni.list is endless lol.2 knots to rule them all.uni and polymer.know them and your set for life
Thanks that second knot I never seen, the first one I do use, I use swivels cause I go braid to mono leter and your correct less twisting, have you used uni knots? They work great too.
Here is a video on how to attach your hook to your mainline: ruclips.net/video/LbmVrCuDOS8/видео.html

I did it and it actually worked. Thank you.
Thank you very much Joshua for the nice tutorial. If you don't tie these often enough, like me lol, it slides through my 71yr. old mind!!

Surf fishing, finger slipped right after casting, lock engaged and there went my surf rig 😂 this helped get the new one on 👍
I prefer the Uni Knot. I used to use the improved clinch knot before i learned the Uni Knot. Great Video bud. 🎣😎🎣😎🎣😎🎣😎🎣
Felix Martell Uni is a great knot.
The uni is one of the best I use too with braid too

Cheers mate, about to go fishin
hold does one time a loop knot? I think it's called a Triline or Berkeley knot as well
I know it goes through the eye and sets similar to a chinch.
Didn’t work out at first but then it worked just fine
Glad to help. 👍
Can you do some flounder fishing video on sky pier..
We don't typically catch a ton of flounder at the piers. They typically are a byproduct catch.
Cool thanks
Can this knot be used on spectra or Dyneema
Thanks for this! Would you be able to tie a palomar on the other side though?
yes.typically you do the leader side first, then attach that to the main line but it can be tricky as your pulling the whole leader through the polymer knot.in this case, switch to the uni knot, same strength knot and interchangable with a ploymar.

A Trilene Knot is just as effective.
There are lots of knots ust as effective
Thanks that second knot I never seen, the first one I do use, I use swivels cause I go braid to mono leter and your correct less twisting, have you used uni knots? They work great too.
