    I appreciate the video. The leak was pretty evident that it originated from the copper hoses opposite from the schrader valve (the hoses were one had the kink). The copper had the sign of corrosion at their solder points. The rust most likely also re-sealed the leaking solder joints. Additionally, the filter-dryer should have been replaced too since 1) its job is to remove contaminants and water from the system, and 2) as the dryer ages its filter material ( silicone dioxide pellets) breakdown into smaller pieces and cause obstruction to flow which diminishes cooling potential.

    Amazing job I would have changed the drier though. Compressor with 134a have ester oil which are attracted to moisture. Aside from that great work

    Thanks for a great video! Question: I followed these steps and my fridge is over shooting temperature (set to 40deg, measured at ~33-34deg). Is this a sign I added too much freon? If so, so I pull some out or just leave it?

    This is a nice detailed and well presented step by step video. Do you know if all the R 134 cans are the same or there are some of them that are meant for refrigerators and some meant for air conditioners. If they are different how can the difference be known.

    What I would have liked to see, adding the Freon, is what you skipped!!!!!!

  • @avis.8606
    @avis.8606 2 года назад

    You did not show how to add Freon, also I think you have to add as a gas not liquid but I think since you were filling it without running the frig, liquid was fine. But adding liquid to a compressor on the low side is bad for the compressor. IS the frig still running or compressor is gone?

    What was the low pressure reading after you put freon in?

    • @markg6860
      @markg6860 3 года назад

      Most domestic fridges need to show a reading of 2-5psi on the low-pressure gauge, after adding the R134a.

    By turning the gas bottle upside down the gas went in the system as liquid is that normal? doesn't suppose to go in as gas state? Thanks.

    • @theotherguy3083
      @theotherguy3083  5 лет назад

      You are right. By turning it upside down the freon is sent into the system as a liquid. In doing so, the freon is discharged into it faster and less time is wasted. However, I would not recommend anyone adding a full amount of liquid freon into it at the same time. You'll hydrolock the compressor breaking it. One should listen to the compressor while slowly adding freon into it.

      @@theotherguy3083 Thank you for reply. I think I just did that mistake that means the compressor is damaged isn't it? there is any way back? or the fridge is scrap now? Thanks

    • @jeffvogel5982

      The easiest way is to use a Supco bullet piercing valve. I use the process tube for my port in to the sealed system.

    I have a set of gages but no instructions. Does the yellow hose connect to the freon can and blue hose connect to compressor line ?

    • @theotherguy3083
      @theotherguy3083  5 лет назад

      The yellow hose is the center hose. It is connected to the freon tank. The blue line is the low side pressure line. The red is the high pressure line.
