Purchased one 12 years ago and used it 3 times with a bad battery I had. I then stored it in a 85 degree garage in FL. Today my battery was dead so took it out and plugged it the wall for 10 minutes. I unplugged and connected to my car which started right up. Could not believe that this 12 year old unit is still working like new. Also I connected the NEG to the NEG battery post instead of the cars body but still worked just fine.
Thanks for the video. Also, I used on a GMC Acadia and first I attached to the chassis but it had paint so it was charging very slowly. Then someone pointed out the "screw" that's specially placed for this and it turned on right away. Thanks!

This sounds like a bad battery. If the battery gets too low the jumper will not jump it off. Can you take the battery to an auto zone and they will check it.
I purchased mine in 2017 from Sam's Club. I took it out of my truck and put it on the charger for 28 hours. It did not charge up so I called the Stanley company. Boy was that a mistake. Stanley has been bought and sold so many times it was dealing like a rented mule. I finally got a number and was put on hold for 45 minutes. I gave up doing this and took it back to the Sam's Club I purchased it from with my original receipt. At first they wanted to know if I had purchased the 3 year warranty. I told them I didn't think I needed it. Customer service at Sam's club called the supervisor lady. She looked at my receipt and said she would give me store credit on a new one. I thanked her and picked up a new one. It is charged up and I used it to put air in my pickup. The unit is back in my tool box awaiting the next time I need it.

These units run with a sealed lead acid battery. The instructions recommend that you charge it up every 40-50 days. Boy that is hard to remember. I would like to see a video of taking this unit apart and replacing the battery.

Love this thing. I’ve used it countless times for jump starting, filling tires with air, charging my phone… tho i do notice an issue with the usb charging feature only after the 2nd time I used it. I turn on the usb ports and the symbol showing it’s on remains on the screen but then as soon as I plug in my phone, it charges for 1 sec then turns off. It’s so annoying and Idk why it does this. One theory I have is that the fatmax needs to be at full (4/4) battery. Mine was 3/4 full at the time which should be more than enough to charge a phone (esp since im able to jump my car like that) but idk… also my neighbor says he has the fatmax too but his compressor doesn’t work. So I guess there’s lots of things that can easily and quickly stop working for no reason on this. But w.e, I still think it’s worth it. I got it for like $60-$70 at Sam’s club

The air output from the inside probably get loose. If you used it constantly for over 5-15mins then you probably overheated the compressor piston ring or overheated the valve.
Hey man I recently got one but when I went to charge it it goes up to 13.7 v but when I unplug it, it goes back down to 13.1 and it drains to quick to 12.7
I always see people doing it differently. I’ve seen people connect both there positive cables and negative to their battery poles and jump start it that way. But others just jumpstart it like this, just connecting the positive and connecting the negative to the Metal to ground it .
@@susanclough2442 I’m pretty sure my bro tried doing that with the fatmax and I saw sparks fly. Or maybe he connected them backwards. But either way, I wouldn’t risk it. Just connect positive to positive then negative to negative, and then reverse order when taking it off. Simple and proper

Unfortunately this Fatmax is a piece of trash! I bought one from Sam's club, it keeps on being all day everyday. I had to open it to add a switch so I can shut off when not in use. I tried several times this morning to jump start my car with this following your instructions but it didn't work. I had to buy a new battery. Maybe my old battery was too bad.
Does anyone know where you can buy the air compressor assembly at? Mine decided to burn out a month after warranty and Stanley says that it has to be serviced by a tech???? I'm a welder. If you have ever swapped out a car stereo and speakers...... it doesnt need a service tech basically. And not only that,, I asked where I could get it serviced at, and their basically like " I dunno". Don't buy this piece of crap! Spend like 10 dollars more or whatever and get a dewalt PLEASE! Stanley will just take your money and run, while you're basically needing to use it one day in an emergency, hopefully not a life or death situation, and you find out you are fucked.

The “battery status” feature is to check how much battery is left on the stanley fatmax. It does not test the car battery.

Question why don’t you put the negative on the negative charges off the battery?
Hooking negative to chassis is safer..less chance of sparks at battery causing explosion
love my fatmax. i use it to inflate the bladder on my veh add on air load suspension
I know this is a year or so later, but why does the negative have to go on the chassis and not on the negative terminal of the battery?
Connecting the negative can cause a spark. Connecting it to the chassis will prevent a spark being next to more flammable materials.
did you try the air compressor on the tires?
Yes, it take some time but it stops by itself when get to the pressure number you put

So alternator checks doesn't require the red switch to be turned on. Only if you are jumping a battery. Correct?

I don't know if it's one out there; but eventually the battery will need charging. I change mine one ever couple weeks
What are the signs of a issue with your alternator
If you put a meter on your battery while the car is running and it don’t get up to around 14 volts, that’s a sign the alternator is bad.

mine wont stay in the on position. the switch will turn to on but as soon as i let go it goes back to off
