      Thanks for these detailed stats. I’m surprised that Dom won more 1st points of games than I did; and got a higher percentage of returns of both 1st and 2nd serves in play. I did feel like I was behind in a bunch of those games.

    Some comments for Dom, repeating mostly what others have said:
    + Serve motion, power, slice serve technique, 2nd serve consistency
    + Athleticism
    - Volley technique, especially positioning (for a volley you position yourself same side as the opponent, for ground strokes it's the opposite side) but also lack of split step and stroke technique
    - Ground strokes are missing height, especially backhand
    - Open stance seems to hurt technique: lack of torso rotation, also not bending to get under a low ball, the arm is doing too much work
    Props for going out there and here!

      - Dom's slice is very wristy; causing too many unforced errors most of the first set, until he finds his rhythm.
      They should both prioritize doing more with their approach shots - they both gave each other too much time for their passing shots, mostly due to the fact they slice almost all of their approaches, and they aren't deep or knife-like enough; a lot of the time the opponent was able to get their feet decently set before hitting their passing shot.

    Well done Boss, I like your forehand

  • @ManagerMia
    @ManagerMia 2 года назад +1

    @Dom and everyone else, @ 1:18, if you are going with the slice, never go cross court like that, it's pretty much a guaranteed lost point IMO. Just too much court to cover and not enough time. In this case, especially with the Boss being left handed, you're slicing cross court which with the spin is going to sit perfectly for his forehand. I think the options are: cross court backhand topspin and retreat, or because the Boss is left handed, short slice to the right side and cover the net....welcome any thoughts....

    Dom has a very good first serve. Just need to work better at the net. He seemed to get tired on the second set. Boss being Boss. Consistent, very focused on his tactics and game plan. Great video.

    Thanks for the post TT. It’s good to be back. I’ve spent the last several months recovering from a shoulder impingement and subsequent frozen shoulder. It’s been extremely frustrating as I watched my game and my fitness suffer. But I’m on the mend and trying to get both back.
    Curious, has anyone else ever dealt with a frozen shoulder? How was your experience? I found the “zinger” pain to be insufferable!

      I first got a steroid injection in the shoulder joint without much relief. Then what’s called a hydrodilation injection without much relief. Ultimately lots of time and home physical therapy are what’s helping.

    Boss just getting it done. You don’t get to be boss unless you put in the work, and his marvelous consistency is evidence of his craft. Nice match-Dom, a nice player in his own right, just could not counter the Thanos-like inevitability of Boss. 👏

    WTG Boss, great match! Dom's got an awesome serve, fantastic athleticism and court movement, and some nice strong shots from the baseline. Unfortunately, his net game here was just painful to watch. I don't know if it was just a bad day, but a decent 3.5-level net game would have had him winning here, considering how many games turned not only on errors at the net, but also balls that should have been put-aways that instead turned into pop-ups or fed right back into Boss' forehand. This was made especially egregious by how many times Dom had the opportunity to come in on weak returns. The good news? Probably an easy fix for someone at this talent level. He doesn't have to turn into a net genius, only to improve his net game to serviceable and he'll dominate.
    Definitely hope we'll see more of Dom on the channel in the future!

    • @hinyan69
      @hinyan69 2 года назад +1

      Dom's first serve is hard, but percentage is way too low, second serve needs more kick. He does not use his legs enough on his ground strokes especially his BH. His net game is about 3.5, but the problem is most of his approaches are poor. Most of these are easy to improve.

    • @arvinsingh3637
      @arvinsingh3637 2 года назад

      I will say the first time we played, Dom got his first 9 (2+ games) 1st serves in and 16 out of his first 17 1st serves in! He was serving light out that day and was very hard to break. Unfortunately the phone overheated after 30 minutes of recording.
      On this day, his first serve percentage was only “60%”, not bad for a serve as big as his.

    • @chubun6631
      @chubun6631 2 года назад

      You didn't get aced, so either you can read his serves well or his placement is not that great. I would back up a step or two on his first serve to have more time to handle the pace.

    Great Match recommendation for DOM is to work with a coach that could help him with his weaknesses, he has great potential to go up in level if he addressees some of his weaknesses. I spent too many year trying to fix stuff without help with mixed results. Bottom line at least once a month if you can work with a coach. Just my two cents

    Hyper G’s serves can be exploited. Blue shorts could hit so much better if he got his racquet down way sooner below the ball and also wait for the ball to drop to mid thigh height when appropriate for better spin.

    Just a tip for Dom's double-handed backhand - if he starts off the unit turn with the racquet head pointing upwards and follow through the swing with the racquet ending up almost touching his back he can generate more power, spin and consistency.

    Just watching the first bit, even if boss wins, everything should be hit to Dom’s backhand, I have yet to see him hit a bh winner and his slice technique is not as conventional and seems to fall short sometimes. Dom’s fh is the much stronger shot strong.
