If they ever do a new edition of Eldritch Horror they should definitely include Focus tokens in the base game box. That's probably the single best rule that was added in the expansions, it makes it so that no matter where you on the board or whether or not there's a monster in your space and how much your Influence skill is you always at least have the ability to get a Focus token. It really does cut down on the number of times you feel like you might have wasted a turn not doing anything useful.

Focus tokens were available in the first big box expansion (Mountains of Madness)

As an owner of all the small box expansions, this is the big box expansion I am most looking forward to acquiring. I enjoy the theme of the dreams a lot and also recognise some of the investigators from my short time with Arkham Horror base game. Plus the symbol for the dreamlands expansion on the cards is the cutest of them all!

Tom: I can’t imagine this is the first expansion anyone’s buying
Me with this being my first expansion: 😶

I’m just getting into eldritch horror and this will probably be the only big box expansion I’ll get.

This one looks cool, but I would wholeheartedly recommend masks of nyrlahotep & mountains of madness

You were saying that you like the dream encounters more than Cthulhu generally, however a lot of the dream encounters feel more like the original Lovecraft than how people perceive Cthulhu, pop culture has morphed Cthulhu into a big tentacle Godzilla, when it was originally much more nuanced.

William Yorrick, the Gravedigger? With that flavor text? I see what they did there.

You can tell this is not the last expansion because FFG just announced yet another one a few days ago. (and also because this one is technically older than Cities in Ruin, but whatever)

I'm not sure if I could handle another expansion...The decks have become way too large as it is since filtering out the expansions each time is too much work in my opinion.
The game also starts to feel somewhat random at times when for instance you're getting 1 or 2 items against hypothermia without using anything relevant to that (except for 1 or 2 monsters in the cup).

Yep. I can't wait for resources and investigator stories to be added to the game. I'm also excited that it's going to feature a way to play an ongoing campaign. I don't think it will feature another side board and since it will have around 400 cards I'm fine with that. I loved Dreamlands too! My favorite part is the new way to reach the side board with the variable dream gates, and also the Scientist. :)

You can tell there is going to be another expansion because it is a FFG.

@@DarknessProphetWhat my group does is we only play the decks related to the expansion/ancient one. We don’t combine the decks from other expansions or the base game unless we run out of cards

@@QuiGonJack10 Yeah, I also split things after each play session now, so we only use the base game plus the relevant expansion.

I completely agree with this feeling like a small box expansion. The other big boxes added new gameplay mechanics(the focus token in Mountains of Madness and the skill impairment in Under the Pryamids) and while the Dreamlands are cool it feels lacking. The only thing is was not sure when reading through the rules is the position of the Dream portals, felt odd. The new Ancients Ones are neat though, Hypnos messing with the rest action can make things really hard. I did not like this expansion at first however this is indeed the coolest sideboard yet. Spot on review!

Oh yes, thank you pyramids expansion, totally needed to get impaired as if the game was not hard enough.

I think my only issue with Tom reviewing HP Lovecraft games is every video he has to keep reminding us he's not "into Cthulu". Yeah, we get it. You don't have to keep mentioning it.

Oh BTW Mansions of Madness Streets of Arkham expansion is out now. Try and review it!

    • @Bodyknock
      @Bodyknock 7 лет назад

Are you sure about that? Streets of Arkham doesn't seem to be on the store listings yet and some places apparently changed their release date listings to November
