I failed my CA exam this week & the questions on the he exam were VERY different than what was on my mock exams. I felt like I was taking a completely different exam than what I studied for.
I just took it too in California and it was nothing like the AATBS mock exams or Grossman. It sux 2nd time and I failed again. What else can I study? I find myself here maybe for a reason. The questions were so abstract I couldn't remember any of the questions afterward. 🤣
@@MsCGarnica I feel slightly relieved to hear you say that because I feel like I've been going crazy. For me there were no questions on theories or theorists and not even diagnosis they gave you the diagnosis and then all of these differentials which I know I could figure out but it still felt very weird the way they asked the questions. I literally got up and went to make sure I was taking the right test. I'm with you I have no idea how to study I went through simple practice learning and I did excellent with their training program I did it for my lawn ethics and passed with no problem. But now I have no idea how to study for this test if you find something please come back and tell me.
@@girlsgonepaper6891 I think what is happening is that the "theory" questions are not always clearly labeled. It can be hidden in the vocabulary and tricky to spot. Feel free to check out Laugh Your Way to Licensure. Half my class tried other programs (including the most popular ones out there) and failed multiple times; they finally pass with my program because I not only teach the content but how to answer the questions. That is the part that is missing in other programs...along with free monthly coaching calls where we laugh a lot, celebrate each other's success, encourage each other through the tough parts, and make this a joyful rite of passage. Whether or not you decide to join my program, don't give up...if you keep trying, you WILL pass! It's inevitable! Keep your eye on the prize!
Thank you for this strategy! I noticed your slide states "Playing Red-Yellow-Red Light to Pass" - it's missing the GREEN light. I think you may have meant "Playing Red-Yellow-Green Light to Pass."
She's right... school DOES NOT prepare you to take/pass these exams. School ONLY prepare you to counsel which is not the same thing. I passed the NCE Sept 14, 2022 (1st time praise God) but that test seemed foreign compared to what was taught in school. There were vast terms, etc that was never mentioned in the classroom. Had it not been for prayer, my faith in Christ Jesus, and the Holy Spirit's help, I would've surely failed simply due to not having been taught not only to counsel, but to pass this exam. Scheduled to take the MFT on Feb 24 and the same issue of vastness of theorists/theories, etc that was not mentioned in classroom exists. My brain is on overload and I've had to just set everything aside (except a video here/there) for over a month now and just picking back up on (trying to) studying. Trusting the Lord again to pass.
I have all these issues ..Test anxiety, the way the questions are worded can be tricky. I was going to try and find a tutor. That might be best for me. Not even sure what to study. I do not think I should go into all my previous books. I need a study guide and tutor.
Hi Nancy, Rather than spend money on a private tutor, I recommend you first try my prep course Laugh Your Way to Licensure. It's a great deal because you get group coaching and a comprehensive program. My students report they get an average of a 10-point increase in their score compared to using other programs due to the unique exam strategy in the course and the test anxiety hack. In addition, we also have a pretty good time together--it's the only course where you can connect with others who are signed up and studying at the same time!
@@DianeRGehartPhD I do like your red, green and yellow signals when answering questions. I tried it with you with the two test questions you provided. I actually felt less anxious with your method. The CDs with test preparation exams I had ordered a few years back from H. Rosenthal for my graduation exam did not help one bit. It was a disaster. However, he also did not give a technique for test anxiety or information on how questions can be worded on the test. He had practice tests that did not seem to be that helpful. This is why I thought a tutor would be better for me for the licensure exam. In any case, I reside in NY and I will order your program and as you have mentioned ordering this program also will give me group support. I truly like this idea and I will be sure to order your program in the next week or two. Thank you for your assistance and encouragement.
