Hi Mezcoui - we filmed Jenny doing quite a few jumps to get these shots but her best jump to date is : 6.35 from a 17 stride approach which was this year at Crystal Palace, in the South of England championships.Jenny is currently training for the 2012 Olympics.
@Cameron Favell Dude, that sucks. My cousin's roommate's sister's boyfriend is also 1046 years old, and he managed to gap the entire South Atlantic Ocean, jumping from the coast of Brazil to Cape Town, South Africa. He also had a sore hamstring that day, so if he was 100%, he could've easily jumped over Africa and the Indian ocean, and land in Australia. Another time, in 2004, he jumped from Northern Canada, and almost landed in Indonesia, but barely missed. He had jumped so high that the impact of his jump created a giant tsunami.

@Aledorabley they measure your mark that is closest to the board. so if you land on your feet, then fall backwards into the pit, they will take the mark where you fell that is closest to the board.
r2fteachpe, is Jenny competing this year? 6.50m surely in reach....great videos, good biomechanics knowledge, clearly presented - these are some of the best techniques videos on the tube
tomorrow i have selection for long jump and i wanted to learn this cuz im experiencing this the first time.im just 10.but she just jumped at a short distance.
practice, dedication and height. My club once brought in a flying coach to train me, he told me that the higher the belly button, the higher you will go. you could be as fast as usain bolt; but with no height you will reach 1m at best. Best of luck (also im 13 so don't judge if this doesn't help you)
@ngsteven97 Yes it is ! It's fabulous isn't it? Really well equipped with really friendly and helpful staff ! I think they are using it as a training facility for the Olympics.
i am in 7th grade and i have won long jump in both my meets and i am currently going for 16 feet (to qualify for state) i believe that this video will help.
@theboy7744 Normally athletes hit their feet, then butt, then body. Because of the momentum they still have at the landing, the point where their butt hits is usually farther than where there feet hit, not diminishing the distance. If their body hits, they would either turn sideways to land so it it still father than their shortest mark, or the momentum still carries them forward past their feet.
I really need to learn a technique, I can jump 5.5+ meters (13 years of age) (around 6-6.5 is my best, depends on my run) and, a technique will surely increase it by a meter, thanks for the vid!
Thanks for the video! Awesome. Question: what type of shoes do you wear for indoor jumping versus outdoor jumping? Also, if some meets don't allow spikes for indoor competition, what is the alternative?
when i was 16 i could jump 6.85 with less than a year training..i stopped training two years later and now,at my 24,i wish i didn't..i think i would be a good athlete..
I'd say you have potential to get into the 6m or maybe (although this is a bit of a stretch) even 7m range by the time you hit your senior year. I'd say start training for it if it's naturally your best event, and see where that takes you.
Ive been more concerned with my takeoff, but the way she says it, I should focus more on my landing. FYI, my best jump is 5.72m with not really knowing what I was doing. Shootin for 6.21m this year!
im all the long jump video's i've seen the athletes fall backwards in their landing. My long jump coach says if you fall backwards they measure from where their head or hands fell. How do these athletes fall backwards and still achieve a good score?
fair enough if you keep on working... and if you have any sort of talent then everything is possible... but' you're still young, so mix it up with other events like ball games etc...
hi was just wondering when you land does the jump record from your bum or not cause when you land then slip back but keep your hands up would the jump still count from your feet?
I'm Thirteen,a sophomore my personal record just 4.98metre ..I'm learning how to jump more longer finding ..I won 1st place in my school last year ..I hope This year i will Won again ;)
I used to do gymnastics, and moved to athletics last year thanks to an injury. Thanks to my experience I find the kick out at the end no problem, but I just can't get enough height. I'm 13 and I jump about 5m, but the English Schools distance is 5.05 and I just can't quite get that extra 5m, please help!
When we do long we run, jump and we have to land on two feet. Because they measure the closest mark to the board, so if you go on ur butt then they measure where ur butt landed
i'm twelve but i'm only 4ft 7 inches tall. is 4.30m a good jump for someone my height and age. (p.s it's my first year) Also thanks for this vid, i came first in my school sports day because of it!
i think my lift off is bad. i just run at it and try and jump as far as i can :/ trying to improve! annoying when i lose by like 2cms... i jump 6.09 right now and i think my landing is off as well >< thanks for the vid! hurray for my 5 dollar spikes i got at the sunday market!
I'm a 14 year old boy and my best jump is 5.05m is that good? and i don't train for it but i would like to so i can get better and i also used footy boots is that better than runners?
I think he is talking about feet because I got 16 '9 on one of my jumps and i'm also 13 but idk what they are measuring by, his jump actually isn't very good if they're measuring the same as they measure at my meets
First track meet tomorrow hoped this video could help me out with my landing. It did . I hope I can do this tomorrow .
Hope I can make it into the Top 10 at my school using this technique....!
good
Just won county championship longjump, 14 years old, 6ft and 18.7 feet (5.7m)- will definitely be improving landing after this thanks :))
This is the exact place I went for sports day and I did long jump
I used to long jump but we never measured it, I tried it out again last week and got 4.10, i never knew I was good at it 😂😂😂

i like how she breaks it down not only does it once really fast and say "good luck" but she is awesome
I'm 14 and my best is 3.85m but I am really starting to enjoy my long jump and hopefully this video will help me out :)
I love the ass slap / finger stretch routine at the beginning of the run-up :)
She is amazing I wish I could do that!
My god that techniques really worked man thank you guys you got a new subscriber
I'm 11 and I can get 3.75 meters is that good!?
thanks!!! my previous record was 4.5 meters and now it is 5.3!!!

Nice quick overview. That is some soft sand!
I did a competition today & I did long jump usually I would get around 4 meters ( I'm 14 ) but today I got a 3.31 my highest Score 😁😭 I came 7/12
fantastic form! especially in the landing
Helped me on my last meet I jumped a 21ft 8in thanks

That was a nice jump hopefully this can help me sort out my dreadful landing
i am in 7th grade and i have won long jump in both my meets and i am currently going for 16 feet (to qualify for state) i believe that this video will help.
i'm a mouse and my record is the moon
Thankss :) today i actually got 4.1!!! Im so happy ;)
I'm 1.55m and jump 14.5feet or 4.40m, is that good?
im 14 and last week was my first winter track meet(freshman) i came in second place with 19 feet 2 inches

Ahhh, Lee Valley Stadium in London (: Home to us GB athletes :) -Jordan Redjep Rank 11th in the UK for Long Jump (U17 Men)

Your run through speed is where you get your distance, try to jump a little more vertically on your take off
I am 14 and 5"8 and my PB is 12"5 after my first season of doing long jump.
I'm 14 and 19' 9 inches and I made it to nationals from games of Texas :))
Hopefully ill use the technique next week for sportsday. Feedbakc will be given :-)
really nice explanation
I think you measured the distance from where you started your run.
when i was 16 i could jump 6.85 with less than a year training..i stopped training two years later and now,at my 24,i wish i didn't..i think i would be a good athlete..

Do you Step on the board or Before the board???
im all the long jump video's i've seen the athletes fall backwards in their landing. My long jump coach says if you fall backwards they measure from where their head or hands fell. How do these athletes fall backwards and still achieve a good score?
I'm sixteen, a sophomore, and my personal record is 20ft 3in. If you have any tips, let me know
fair enough if you keep on working... and if you have any sort of talent then everything is possible... but' you're still young, so mix it up with other events like ball games etc...

hi was just wondering when you land does the jump record from your bum or not cause when you land then slip back but keep your hands up would the jump still count from your feet?

When I has 13 I did 4.6m i think it is decent since i have any kind of training for long jump
I used to do gymnastics, and moved to athletics last year thanks to an injury. Thanks to my experience I find the kick out at the end no problem, but I just can't get enough height. I'm 13 and I jump about 5m, but the English Schools distance is 5.05 and I just can't quite get that extra 5m, please help!
is this in edmonton London?
its best to try and twist when you land so you cant fall back (Y)
When we do long we run, jump and we have to land on two feet. Because they measure the closest mark to the board, so if you go on ur butt then they measure where ur butt landed
i'm twelve but i'm only 4ft 7 inches tall.

I feel like when I jump I don't get any air and just sort of vault off of one leg no matter what I do. Any tips?
hey, i got that accident too. can you give me advice please :)
Im 12 years old my personal best is 4.76 m. it's good or no? please answer!
On your jump at the start you were over the board by about 2cm but besides that it was a good jump
@StephLouiseXo its pretty good. I'm 13 ( a guy) and can jump 4.70 with out to much training. Hope that helps :)
@QuarterPounder1379 - you should trial for the championships. If you were jumping before 1964 you'd be a record breaker.
Thanks sooooo much I got 6ft 1inch
I'm 13 year old girl and my only jump I've ever done was 4.4m (14.5 ft) is this any good?
When i was 16 a couple months ago i got 5.94m with no training at all, ive got a competition soon and i want to break the 6m barrier
does it hurt when u landing ?
when i land i don't land on my back, that affects how far you go. I land forward immediately after i land.
is that lee valley?
cos i've been there!
I don't get how to do the ''ametersation phase'' - typo.
I can't make noise on the board.
i am dani.. 16 old and my record is 5.8..
thats a bit little no offense but the world record for a 12 year old is 6 meters
I think he is talking about feet because I got 16 '9 on one of my jumps and i'm also 13 but idk what they are measuring by, his jump actually isn't very good if they're measuring the same as they measure at my meets
