Great video! I would love a video on Value! It is so important. It has been awhile since art class, but I do remember my teacher, a masterful landscape painter, telling us over and over that "color gets all the glory while value does all the work."
@Pointebrush Yes... my son was just telling me about taking an image and putting it in black and white (on his tablet) then finding the values on a color wheel that he's turned to Black and White and using that to paint. You end up using all the wrong colors but it 'looks right'. ❤
@marcusdekker Value in art is the lightness or darkness of a color. In black and white, it is called a grayscale with white as the lightest and black as the darkest.
This video was such a fun way to learn about colour temperature, as a visual learner I really appreciate how you showed how different lighting looks in real life :D
You are an artist in SO many areas! As an instructor, an entertainer, an inspiration, and to hear your little one giggle at the end I would also guess as a mom!! You are an artist and a gift! Thank you for your joyful sharing ❤
If you made a video about the phone book, I'd be here for it! Yes please to values and color temps. What a great video! Loved hearing your son's giggles at the end. I bet you all have so much fun! ❤
Oh gosh this was a great fun video on Depth & Color Temperatures!! Yes I need a video on your fun explanation for Values too! Such a brilliant idea & way for me to grasp these topics for great paintings in the future. Thanks for sharing this informational video with us 🥰. Hopefully you’re enjoying a wonderful week!
I think you are brilliant. Yes, I hit like on all your episodes because you are fun, imaginative, excellent teacher and of cause, the aim of the game, know how to impart and educate people so they get it. That is a skill a lot of people lack. They just talk but don't engage. Congratulations on your brilliant channel, looking forward to learning more. I purhased the books Petal and The secret life of colour. 🎉❤❤❤❤
I love watching your videos. You make them fun to watch and it is so easy to understand. Some people make it so complicated. Thanks for teaching us in simpler terms.
I wish people would like the videos. It’s free and those that make the videos work so hard at the editing and getting it ready to go on the Tube. Please give a like.
@Flippin_Crazy You're right. I'm terrible at it. Off to like this one now and then heading off to do the same on my recently watched. Must make more effort. 🙏 for the reminder ❤
That lesson was dynamic! What an ingenious way to explain how warmth and coolness works. I have had many lessons on this, and it has been difficult to grasp this concept at times. Thank you for giving me such a concrete way of understanding it. The visualization of the bath and the snow will stick with me forever.
Oh my sweet lord. You just popped out on my feed and this is the first video of your's I've ever watched and ... what in the what, why're you so good at this?! I mean, content yes content, but the whole *waves hand*... are you working in actual movies or ad shoots? This is more than just professional, this is ... genius (or maybe genie with all the popping in and out of scenes). 😮👏👏👏❤️ You've got yourself a new fan. 🤩
Hullo Margot, I can see your flare for the dramatic is alive and well in this video, so much fun! I have taken Alain Picard's class on painting the painterly landscape and he shows how to create thumbnails getting us to block our values and simplify to get started! He is running his portrait course just now and I know everyone who is taking it is awash in value studies and creating a likeness and everything to create a painterly portrait! I did like your video and I hope more follow suit!
This video is by far the most fun, clever, and unique I have ever seen. And yes, I even learned a thing or two. Thank you for sharing your spunky, creative nature with us!
I love creating creative videos about my art. You’ve now inspired me to go another direction with my production. Stay tuned world! Thank you for the inspiration.
Awesome video Margo! I love this new evolution in your video production. I would love to see more like this and appreciate the effort because they are so fun to watch. Informative and creative. Please keep up the work because you have created an interesting niche in the RUclips painting channels. Can't wait for the next one!🎨🖌
Incredibly inteligent; talented; observant; articstic etc etc... great humour; beautiful...and so much more to add. Individuals like this...make me love the world we live in. Such a colourful Human being....I identify the light source in this case shining from within! Thank you for showing your true colours and brightening up our day 😊
Great video! A practical real world example of the Kelvin scale in light is when you go to purchase LED bulbs. How many of us bought ones that turned out to be that harsh white blue when we wanted that natural soft warm light. Most LED bulb manufacturers include the Kelvin scale on the box to help you get the right desired light color.
Just found this video, which is a great way to explain colour temperatures and the Kelvin scale. Yes please, I wait with anticipation for your video on values .
This came recommended from RUclips after my beginner watercolour video binge and I can’t get over how creatively presented this information is. I had to go watch all your other videos too. Absolutely love how you combine valuable art knowledge with creative video making. I feel like what I’ve learned will stick with me for a long time. You’ve got yourself a new fan! ❤
Margot you are so highly talented and fun. I’m learning so much from you and love how you explain and teach. I really appreciate your time and care in all you do. ❤
insane how you explained such a complex thing soooo incredibly simple! I finally understood this and I've been struggling with colour temperature for a long time so thank you so much!
Such fun to watch your videos. Somewhere in the deep dark recesses of my brain I knew about the Kelvin scale and I thank you for reminding me of it in such a creative way. Thanks so much. 🙏🏻
i have been always wondering every color theory video i watched on youtube as a plain textbook feeling about values, warm and cool colors and this is the very first that someone actually make it sense the "theory" in colors. it makes a lot more sense about the theory part and not just like a list of subtopics about colors. this is also a a child friendly video that is entertaining and easy to understand. thank you sm for this!!!
So good! Your art education and visual skills: brilliant, and then you knock it out of the park with your production and editing mastery! Big yes to value and color temperature videos, please and thank you!!
This was like Blues Clues for artists. So much effort being put into this, I love it!
Great video! I would love a video on Value! It is so important. It has been awhile since art class, but I do remember my teacher, a masterful landscape painter, telling us over and over that "color gets all the glory while value does all the work."
Yes!! Your teacher was right. value is the foundation of the house. You can’t make it pretty if you don’t have good support! Added to the list!
@Pointebrush Yes... my son was just telling me about taking an image and putting it in black and white (on his tablet) then finding the values on a color wheel that he's turned to Black and White and using that to paint. You end up using all the wrong colors but it 'looks right'. ❤
value? i dont understand. What do you mean?
@marcusdekker Value in art is the lightness or darkness of a color. In black and white, it is called a grayscale with white as the lightest and black as the darkest.
@@windywednesday4166 Much appreciated, ty
Entertainer, comic, educator, cinematographer …and artist? You are sooo talented!
Margot, I would watch you even if you did a video on tractor maintenance! You teach so well, it's making sense in my head now! Thank you.
Tractor maintenance… gotcha.. that’s up next! 🤣😝🥰😘
We're holding you to that, Margot! @@Pointebrush

Great video!
The time and effort you must have spent making this video is impressive. Top notch quality content for free on RUclips? Seriously, I am impressed.
Value video definitely welcome. This video was magnificent.
So happy you enjoyed it! 😘
This video was such a fun way to learn about colour temperature, as a visual learner I really appreciate how you showed how different lighting looks in real life :D
I’m a visual learner too and I always have an easier time seeing it than hearing it! Glad I could help!
This video was really good.
You are an artist in SO many areas!
As an instructor, an entertainer, an inspiration, and to hear your little one giggle at the end I would also guess as a mom!! You are an artist and a gift!
Thank you for your joyful sharing ❤
To answer your question about another video: YES. I WANT ALL THE VIDEOS OF ALL THE THINGZZZZ! Pretty please & thank you! 🙏🏻 ❤
If you made a video about the phone book, I'd be here for it! Yes please to values and color temps. What a great video! Loved hearing your son's giggles at the end. I bet you all have so much fun! ❤
You’re so sweet! Thank you so much ! Maybe I should do something with the phone book come to think of it 🤔😉😂

Love the storytelling in your videos, makes things both entertaining and educational!
Yes please! I need this so much. So mixed up with the warm and cool colours!❤️🦋
I hope this clarified some things and let me know where your pain point is with everything and maybe I can do a video about that too!

You are so creative with your teaching and videos. Just love it and you!!
You're the Captain Disillusion of Painting! What fun and dynamic editing!
Really? The editing is so overdone that it threw me off! Save some subtlety for art's sake!
@@bluesque9687 Then it's simply just not your cup of tea. Fortunately there are plenty of creators out there with differing styles, eh?
