I'm originally from Tyler, but we left there when the four of us were kids. Our mother felt like there were too many memories of our father there, so we moved to Dallas. My sister and I are the only siblings out of four who are left, ee lost our brother and our younger sister quite a few years ago. We recently lost our mother in 2020. After seeing this about the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler, I will definitely try and get back there, and we still have family living there.
Hopefully my tour brought back good memories for you with your family all together. Sometimes those memories are what it takes to get through difficult times. I do hope you are able to go back again sometime and relive some of those cherished memories of your youth

My personal faves are always the primates...they're usually the loudest, most active bunch lol I laughed when you said you were craving chee-tos while watching the cheetah. 😂
That's great that you watch my videos with your family. I try my best to show everything so my viewers will enjoy their virtual tours. Primates are fun to watch, especially the youngsters 😁 Thanks for laughing at my goofy joke.
It's pronounced "call" dwell zoo. It's a very beloved attraction in East Texas, and I and my family have many fond memories of visiting through the years. This zoo is always in a state of construction, adding animals and attractions every year. When I went over 50 years ago for a school field trip, it was so much smaller.
I really enjoyed my visit to this zoo. It's always good to see a zoo making updates and renovations. That shows the community cares about their Zo. Thanks for the comment

Thanks for this video. I had not yet heard of this zoo before. Overall, I have to say I think the zoo does a really good job here. They prove you don't need to invest millions to build good animal enclosures. Of course the zoo was helped by the natural scenery which they put to good use. In my opinion, the zoo excels by not trying too hard. No ridiculous amounts of fake rocks, no unnecessary 'immersion' aspects to enclosures (like the much too drawn out 'animal crossings' that seem to pop up everywhere), no over-the-top theming of visitor areas that do not benefit the animals at all. I'm not a big fan of the penguin enclosure, and the elephant enclosure seems to be on the smaller side, but every zoo has it's weak points. For the most part though, a lot of the enclosures seem to be above average. Animals like the red fox and bobcat usually draw the short straw when it comes to zoo enclosures, but they have pretty good enclosures here. The zoo also has a lot of interesting mixed species enclosures. I don't think I've ever seen colobus monkeys mixed with antelopes before.
The zoo has done an excellent job with the design of the habitats. This zoo has a nice selection of animals with a few I rarely see. I'm glad you enjoyed my tour, I had a lot of fun filming it.
I thnk the cheetas are separate because they are babies.. well, they are juvenile in fact, we can recognize that because theyare more fluffy :D (you can alsosee the difference of size when the adult one pass behind them.) oh you can actually have a sneak view of the ostrich ! it's at 52:38, if you look in the background behind the zebra, you can see a female ostrich bottom and legs standing. (almost just between the zebras). Ostrich was here but didn't wanted to be on camera probably XD That's a nice zoo, it's not a big zoo in term of animals, but the habitats are very big sometime and there is plenty of different animals. Considering the price, i think it's a very good zoo to visit :D
Separating the cheetah seems the likely reason, didn't even think of that. I saw the ostrich behind the trees, thank You for the time stamp. Overall it's a really nice zoo with a great selection of animals in natural habitats. Glad you enjoyed my tour 😊
I like the Natural look too. And at least all the places you have posted are wheelchair accessible. The worst zoo in the woods was Paws and Claws in Pocono PA. It's in the woods alright no paths all dirt, rocks and tree roots. And the exhibits are way outdated too. It's close to me went one time never again. My membership belongs to LVZoo. In Lehigh Valley.
I'm surprised they can operate like that. It only takes one complaint from someone in a wheelchair to have the ADA on them. I'll have to check out Lehigh Valley Zoo when I go to Pennsylvania.

Hey Tom! I really enjoyed this video, this Zoo has a good selection of animals, some of which we don’t see very often on the channel. I most enjoyed the East Africa section of the Zoo. I found it really cool how at 24:58 you showed the 3 lionesses overlooking all the other animals Tom. If you hadn’t said anything, I for sure would’ve thought that the herbivores and the lions were all together! The herbivores wouldn’t have lasted long 😳! You mentioned a separation of some sort Tom, what was it exactly? Was it a water separation or something else? Please answer this question as I’m very curious! I think it’s awesome the Zoo made it so the lions were overlooking animals that they would normally hunt in Africa. And you showed us lionesses, even better as they do all the hunting! 17:54: Yay!😁 We haven’t had a giraffe feeding on the channel in a while! I always enjoy the giraffes, such majestic animals! 11:42: These are called Wattled Currasows, I saw them in a documentary when I was younger and the name stuck for some reason. I’m good like that, remembering names and such! 16:16: I was VERY pleasantly surprised when I saw this enclosure! So much space for them! Like their own savanna away from savanna ( home away from home, I know my jokes suck, I’ll escort myself out lol 😂👍 ). 28:30: I always love the alligators! I wish they were around where I live like it is with you but way too cold for such big reptiles most of the year. Where I live, the ground is covered in snow for 7-8 months. There has been previous years in my town where there was snow on the ground every month of the year. I’m lucky to see other majestic animals though like lynx ( I rarely see this animal because they are very secretive but I have seen them a few times, actually all the times I saw them was in winter )! I also see various waterfowl ( mallards, Canadian Geese, Sandhill Cranes which is one of two cranes found in Canada, the other being the whooping crane which I’ve never seen in person. But I once saw Sandhill Cranes raise their young at my grandparents old house at the pond across the road, when I tell you I spent hours at that pond observing wildlife Tom, I mean hours! I also see Moose every now and then. Beavers, white-tailed deer, otters occasionally, various hawks and eagles, all sorts of stuff! ) Oh and also Black Bears, there’s a big male black bear that lives in the woods behind my dads house. We call him Yogi 🤣👍! Bet you chuckled at that haha! 30:44: Well then! This Zoo has a good size white-tailed deer herd! 31:46: Bison are very cool! There’s actually a natural preserve near my house ( about a 5 minute drive from my house ) and basically there’s a hotel and stuff with spa and restaurant but then there’s this huge fenced in forest area with deer ( I forgot the exact species but I wanna saw fallow deer or something like that ), elk, Canadian Geese, Ducks, Mute Swans ( during the summer ). They used to have Moose but unfortunately 2 years ago we had a very cold winter and the moose ( 2 ) did not survive. But a tractor goes through this preserve on a dirt road pulling a trailer which the tourists ride in! At the end of the tour, in a fenced off area is a clearing where they keep their bison. Before, they had 2 male bison, but they recently got some more and they had another baby recently which is about 2 weeks old or so! I think the herd is at 10 or so bison right now! The location is Called Cedar Meadows, I honestly don’t know if they allow filming or not but if they do, come on over and film it for the channel! I think it would be really cool! You can also feed all the animals Pellets/Kibble. Whatever you wanna call it lol. When they had moose, they gave you branches for the moose. I like that this Zoo had lots of birds, you mentioned this at one point. 37:10: Aww that’s a shame, I always enjoy the otters! They’re so cute and playful! Oh well! 38:16: Naughty boy Tom, missing the reptile house on your first walk through. Just messing with ya man 😉. 38:42: That right there is what’s called a beautiful habitat! Whoever did this is very very very very talented! 44:52: Yay! Dart Frogs 🐸! I love their colours! 47:56: Awesome that the Zoo does conservation for these! I enjoyed all the information about how they do so! While we’re on the subject of conservation, I was pleasantly surprised at how many species survival plans this Zoo participantes in ( as well as Ellen Trout Zoo )! 54:58: Yay! Penguins 🐧! 52:38: There’s the ostrich in the background! I see you girl! Girl because grey feathers. So this comment is already very long Tom ( I hope that’s ok! ) but I wanted to give you some praise before I go! Your channel is still my favourite!
