Another video clip directed by a famous film director, Chinese this time, Ching Siu-tung. The video clip is inspired by a Chinese legend and tells the story of 2 twin sisters endowed with supernatural powers. It cost 900,000 Euros and is the most expensive French music video ever made. Part of the Great Wall of China had to be reconstructed. Already, the video clip for “California” that you watched previously cost more than 600,000 Euros. The song "L'Âme-stram-gram" is actually inspired by the children's nursery rhyme "Am stram gram" (in English "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe") but as is often the case with Mylène Farmer, the texts and words have a double meaning. Already, instead of “Am”, she wrote “Âme” which means soul! In the song she evokes both psychoanalysis and orgasm. Her music videos (especially the first ones) are real short films made like films and with film budgets. This is the case for “Libertine” (Libertine) and “Pourvu qu’elles sont douces (Libertine 2)" (As long as they are soft), which take place in the 18th century, with war, a duel fight, torrid scenes... Epic! See also "Désenchantée" (Disillusioned), "Sans contrefaçon" (Without counterfeit), "Sans logique" (Without logic)...
Hello from South France, PopzReacts!!, 🌴🌞 Thank you once again for this reaction to Electropop Queen Mylène Farmer. In France, during the 1980s, 1990s, and even 2000s, Mylène Farmer was the female equivalent of M.J. for America. Each new release of a music video, concert announcement, or, more rarely, her presence on a television set was a real cathode event with millions of viewers at stake. This craze began in 1986 with the release of the 10.52-minute video "Libertine," a real short film directed by her accomplice, composer and filmmaker Laurent Boutonnat. This video features a song very inspired lyrically by French libertine writers of the 18th century (Choderlos de Laclos, Le Marquis de Sade, Restif de la Bretonne, Nougaret, Denis Diderot, etc.). It takes up the codes of big production films of capes and swords of the 60s with hundreds of extras, natural settings, and epic fights but with a much more modern approach in the shots, in the very raw and brutal violence, and even more in the exacerbated eroticism of the scenes of the video. The sequel to this clip featuring the same characters was released two years later (1988) with the title "Pourvu qu'elles soient douces" a short film of 18 minutes this time, for a budget of nearly 600,000 euros and reconstructing a historical scene during the Seven Years' War (France vs Great Britain - 17th century), with always the same sulfurous ingredients proposed in the first part. These two successive clips established Mylène Farmer's career and propelled her to the rank of pop music icon worldwide because they were also seen by the biggest stars of the time (Elton John, Madonna, M.J., Sting, etc.) and who did not hide their new interest in this mysterious French woman gifted with an unprecedented sense and artistic universe, leading them to come to see her spectacular concerts in Paris and finally follow her throughout her career afterward. That's why, it seems to me, that this should be your next double video reaction regarding Mylène Farmer. What we could call, starting at the beginning. 😋😊 Peace, people. ☮👈😎
Greetings my friend.. Thank You so much for tuning in and for the great suggestions.. I have added these to her list as the next ones to do.. will get them soon
I love this song and video. It was in 1999, a great year for Mylène, "Innamoramento" one of her best albums
