milkandcookiesTW Hi there, just wanted to point out you made a mistake about Cathay. In the video you claim that Tzeentch is a recognised religion in Cathay, it’s not. Tzeentch is worshipped by the nobles in the Cult of Chi'an Chi which are based in the city of Beichai, a city which has been at a state of civil war against the Celestial Dragon Emperor based in Weijin ever since.
Indeed, the various Tzeentch worshipping cults actually form some of the Dragon Emperor’s greatest enemies alongside the Skaven and Monkey King on the basis of the threat the Worshippers of Tzeentch poses to the Emperor’s rule.
So great was this antagonism towards Tzeentch that the Emperor (either a former one or the same based on whether you follow the dragon myth) has the Great Bastion wall built to keep daemons from invading Cathay and constructed the Tower of Ashshair to prevent magical daemons like Lords of Change from teleporting into Cathay and to monitor entries to Cathay via the Silk Road.
Tl:dr Tzeentch is worshipped by what amounts to a terror state that wishes to supplant the Emperor within Cathay, not by the Emperor’s court. Therefore, it is wrong to suggest that worship of Tzeentch is recognised across Cathay since most of it is at war with Tzeentch.

I think tzeentch should be about corrupting powerful individuals within other factions as a campaign mechanic. An empire army Lord for example should be prone to corruption and once corrupted the Lord then starts slowly corrupts his own troops eta, could make for some horus heresy level anime betrayals which would make for some really interesting outcomes i think.

I was thinking the same thing. It could work like the assassination mechanic, where you "assassinate" the target but then they are replaced on the map or added to your recruit pool as a hybrid lord or hero (based on the target class, but with some changes made to their skill tree, and kit-bash some chaos stuff on them or replace some of their things with a chaos equivalent. Like replacing a dragon mount with a chaos dragon mount) . Maybe if done to a lord you take control of their army and keep their units, but you wouldn't be able to recruit new ones. So if for example you stole something really cool, you better make sure it stays alive.

I still think that the best option for revamping Chaos is to take inspiration from the Vampire Coast update. We all know how rogue armies and pirate fleets make the game feel much more dynamic and exciting, so why not add more in the shape of "legions of Chaos"? Several of these legions appear over the map, and are put on a leaderboard like the pirates for the Coast campaign. You start at the bottom with whatever faction you choose, each LL starting in a different place with a different themed army, and have to work up, earning favour of the gods by razing settlements and defeating other lords, increasing your rank and bringing them under you control. You work your way to the top and get appointed either Everchosen or Champion of your particular god, perhaps having to fight a final challenger (like Sarthoreal) and then with control of all the forces of Chaos you get to coordinate the destruction of the world and bring about the End Times.
I feel that the current Chaos campaign lacks structure and direction, and this is why it is so painfully boring, and this, or a similar mechanic, would fix that. It also would do away with the "whack a mole" style gameplay, because your objective is no longer making sure every settlement on the map is in a ruined state. It also means that when the time comes to make the world burn you can let your AI allies in Norsca, Beastmen, Skaven and lesser Chaos lords deal with the irritating small hold outs, while you focus on major empires and faction capitals. This would also make the end game feel more like you have fought your way to the top of a world ending coalition of evil, rather than just being edgy Huns from Attila with more spikes.

Oh and they should make Chaos Undivided function a bit like the old Mercenary recruit system. You start with a set of troops and can recruit mercenary soldiers but unlike currently where you build buildings to get these recruits you should instead be able to recruit from the current Zone akin to Medieval 2 when you recruited mercenaries. Norscan areas give you marauders, berserkers etc. Where as zones with destroyed cities (that you destroyed and established a Chaos portal) you can summon more advanced units. Daemons, Chosen, Champions, whatever. The quality of these units should be tied to the settlement level that you destroyed.
Destroying a low quality village gives you access to low quality troops. Destroying a Level 5 Building gives you access to Greated Demons and so forth. Also every gate should have immediately a army of units defending the gate, with the army composition and quality being based on both the territory and the level of the Zone. And every gate should always be defended by 20 Units, be they garbage quality Marauders or high quality Daemons/Chaos Warriors/Chosen etc. Also chaos corruption needs to be a extremely potent effect on the current Province and maybe even the neighbouring provinces. Finally the Quality of the gate and Lord/Hero abilities should affect Replenishment rates.
This would inspire the player to both actively sack, raze and invade all the while the Gates and Destruction you leave behind would become very difficult to deal with.
As for the Daemons of Chaos... Eh. They should have bases in the Northern Wastelands. It would only be fitting I believe. They should have a resource mechanic in Attrition when they exit the Wastelands in that they NEED to establish Chaos Gates to be able to keep their units alive in the Materium.

Wondering if they'll give Empire up another faction like Middeheim. Love to see unique units like Knights of the White Wolf , Wolfkin, Arr Ulric and the Teutogen Guard. As you say, it's going to be very heavy on the evil factions so unless they massively expand some faction in the lore Middenheim seems to be the only other option besides Kislev. Marienberg could happen but they'd have to get creaive to avoid being too close to Empire or Vampire Coast. Only other options really are Albion, which the lore is there for but some creativity will be needed to flesh out a whole faction, or Cathay, Nippon, Ind ,etc which I think may be a bit too much of a stretch as pretty much nothing is known about any of them. Not really a good side but Hobgoblins could possibly be another faction but I think they will be covered with Chaos Dwarfs. Possibly Amazons?

I will admit, the idea of a chaos undivided daemon faction led by Be'lakor gets me excited. One of the most interesting (and deadly) daemon characters, but one of the least touched upon (in both universes). If he makes it in, that would make my day for the rest of the trilogy!

Zach Wait Imo, Be’lakor would be the perfect way to end the series.
      - WH1 Ended with Sarthorael
      - WH2 will end with N’kari based on the Lizardmen, Dark Elves and Followers of Nagash epilogue text
And then once you get to WH3, you spend the game as your chosen chaos faction seeking allegiance from your god only to then finally be threatened by a Daemon whose powerful enough not to be bound by any.
In my opinion either Be’lakor or a Nagash undead invasion mechanic would be the best way to end WH3.

Looks like game 3's Vortex equivalent campaign will be the Chaos realms and that Ogre Kingdoms, etc will be DLC that will be added to the Mortal Empires campaign map a few months later. Makes sense to release all the Chaos Gods together and give them the attention they deserve.

My list of LLs for Chaos Daemons, Warriors of Chaos and Norsca when Tzeentch hits it in TWWIII:
Kairos Fateweaver for the first, Egrimm van Horstmann for the 2nd, and Vilitch for Norsca.

For the summoning horrors by casting mechanic, casters could have a bound spell that starts on cooldown and ticks down for X seconds every time you cast a spell so after castng however many spells you can summon a unit of horrors.
Or it could be a top-bar ability like the Ushabti summon. That would probably be better.

I really wish CA would somehow implement something where you could fight in the four realms of chaos. Like maybe have each Legendary Lord of that God's faction fight their quest battle in one of them? Thatd be so cool

The fun thing about fighting Tzeentch is that, even when you kill his champions and definitively muck up one of his plans, you have no guarantee that he didn't *want* you to do so - the Changer of Ways runs an impossible number of schemes at any given time, many of which run counter to one another, so even when he loses, he still wins.

if I could pick any single rite to give to the Tzeentch faction I would give then a rite to give their armies infinite magic reserves and recharge for about 5-10 turns (doing so also changes the winds of magic in all provinces with Tzeentch armies to the strongest setting so your enemies will have a bit more magic than usual as well to balance it out)

  • @kellyweldon9054

I like the summoning idea, one caveat instead of waiting five turns to summon an army all at once but instead each turn gives you four units so they can defend the caster against any quickly assembled smaller armies someone may send.

If CA adds at least some of the unique mechanics of Tzeentch into the Daemons of Tzeentch faction for Warhammer 3. This is going to be the most OP army in the entire game. Where all units deal Magical Damage and most of them also have bound spells and the chance of creating random buffs and debuffs to be applied all over the map.

What if the Tzeentch faction got a mechanic similiar to the influence system but it allows you to let an army defect from it faction and attack another faction causing those 2 factions to be at war with each other and preventing them from getting peace for 10 turns. It would allow you to break strong AI alliances and change the way of history with a little intrigue. Maybe make it a 3 step process you have to plant the seed of change, wait 5 turns, show the plan to your seeded followers/cultists, wait 5 turns, execute order 66 then boom they are war with one of their armies gone rouge.

It would be really nice if they could use stuff from AoS. Tzaangors (in all variations) and Acolytes are really cool models.

I know each of the Ruinous Powers represents positive emotions as well, but I still don't quite understand how Tzeentch embodies hope. Like, Khorne representing honor in battle, Nurgle representing determination to live, these things are understandable enough, but I can't quite see the connection between Tzeentch and hope.

Indy my dude! Another great lore video on the Chaos Pantheon.
I was wondering what you think about end time unites being added for the sake of flavor of the gods themselves as the End Times did expand on Nurgle and while we do have Age of Sigmar and what not, why not get into cultist and bird like men that follows the order of Tzeentch as well?
I do get that people hate AoS, I do so myself.
Although one can't argue about the amazing models GW has added to the Great Four.
What's your thoughts on this? You touched a little bit on that area in the Nurgle video about the monsters/unites that followed The End Times and its errors yet great expansion of the roster/faction itself.

    • @milkandcookiesTW
      @milkandcookiesTW  5 лет назад +2

I'm all aboard the End Times units boat as expansion or DLC. I think the best way to handle it is sometime a couple years after Warhammer 3 is out, do an End Times expansion adding new units and legendary lords for every faction that got them in the End Times, and market the fact that this time you can prevent the end of the world

    • @GruwskiTheDogski
      @GruwskiTheDogski 5 лет назад

We do somewhat have a "End time" implemented within the current game, however not the full scenario / package does not follow it fully.
But without i doubt i totally agree on the narrative of adding in the Pantheon full might over time, there's way to much goodness to the great four within the old and new settings to leave out for the sake of flavor.
I have such high hopes for this since ever since i started to collect table top models back in the 90's to the first ever news of Total War Warhammer, i really hope CA nails both the Warriors of Chaos and the Daemons of Chaos down for things to come.
After all chaos is the big bad without a doubt and deserves to be treated as such.
