Toby was so furious at his mother for what she did, that he disowned completely. After that, Toby was able to reconcile with Kim, they happily got married and there was never any doubt between them again.

This mother needs to back off. Let the son make his own choices. True love shouldn't be tested nor should you have someone I your ear to poison you. If my mother ever did this, I'd want to cut all ties and look for the one who stood by me in the bad times.
