the sound of the drums in your videos reminds me of videos I've seen from Eric Moore. using like 8, 10, and 12 in toms and everything sounding very clear.
i'm an old school metalhead from san anto...i live in austin now, 38 yrs, i know your first love for music is tejano....but i know you got some rock music in your blood, what rock bands influenced you're drumming skills, love that clear sound, just goes to show that you don't need a drum tech...
Beautiful looking and sounding kit. Is this the same african marble kit from your previous video? How did you get the black burst? It's stunning. Local job or did Sonor do it? Great playing too.
I couldn't help but notice that you have the sq1 floortombrackets on this sq2 kit, very nice indeed. How did you get them, can't choose them in the configurator? Congrats on this beauty of a kit 👌
I wanted to change the thickness of the shells in order to achieve a desired sound effect. The result for me was I knew Birch has loads of attack to begin with, I wanted my racks to give me more of the shell or "wood" sound, so I went with heavy shells there. On my floors I wanted sustain for days and increased attack, so I went with thin shells on the floors, and the result is demonstrated in the video. I personally feel that I achieved exactly what I sought out for.
it also makes sense from a tuning point of view. thicker shells activate better at higher tunings and thinner shells have a lower fundamental frequency, which helps in the case of the floor toms. i'm still a bit perplexed about why this isn't the standard in drum manufacturing
Is there some reason I hear this grove on almost all Sq2 demos??? First thing I did when I set up mine was plays this intro groove. These drums sound so so good they put spell on ya, caution
Ha! No way, nice, well you definitely composed a theme song cause I researched all the wood types, thickness ect for over a year. It’s definitely on a ton of Sq2 vids, now it seems like it’s being played on some other high end vids, maybe a star, the Phoenix….well done, you’re a drum demo hit maker. Fact not opinion.
No lie, I’ve just your tom mounts and realised you have the short end attached to the Tom. I always had it the other way and got annoyed how it always used to catch
Hi Sir I’ve seen that you’ve made the change from Dw to Sonor I would love to hear your opinion on what both are I play a collector series but have always wondered if sonor were better drums
Just contact your preferred Sonor dealer, and they'll get you a quote from Sonor for any custom finish ideas. This was a proof in concept working with Sonor to do custom finishes outside of the configurator. As you see, they knocked it out of the park IMHO.
@@ramenthenoodle_ ANY brands flagship will be more expensive then the rest. But to say that a flagship vs. flagship price comparison makes Sonor far and above more expensive? I don't think so.
Is birch your fav sq2 wood overall? I wanted to try beech most likely but gotta admit I am a bit nervous to not go with maple on such a big purchase once time comes.
No, the finish is a custom burst I created with Sonor that's not available on their SQ2 Configurator. It was a proof in concept that Sonor too can do anything a client would want. Just convey those ideas to your preferred dealer. I personally recommend Erik at CymbalFusion.com; tell him I sent you and I doubt you'll find a better deal out the door.
@@larrytate1657 The reason I chose Birch was because I was floored by the sound of my first Sonor kit as an artist and that's their SQ1 which is Birch. So I went with Birch again as my SQ2 thinking if I customized some shell thicknesses then I would have the ultimate Birch kit; Listen to this vid and a few others on my channel and you tell me if you disagree? As far as choosing Beech, I'd say go for it! Beech is kind of a Sonor thing, and they've been around since 1875; so they must be doing something right. LOL My road SQ2 will be Beech by the way.
@@TheApacheTrail it's no different than any other natural wood product. If you buy furniture made out of lament and particle board then it's going to be cheaper than something built with real wood, or solid wood with dovetail joints ETC. You get what you pay for.

Nice! I'm an Arron Holler fan

Está con todo está batería mi estimado, felicidades !

My man you need a Beech kit now. Perfect blend of maple and birch but also has a very distinct character.
It's currently in production.
@@AaronHoller that’s awesome! Same shell layout?
@@thesneakygamer4343 Yes, along with the same shell thickness as the birch SQ2, except the snare will be thin this time.
Sound or looks it better? I can not decide! ;D Beautiful Drumkit!!! Thanks for sharing! :)

Thank you very much. It's a different kit; same exact shell specs, but obviously the Natural to Candy Black Burst has been added by Sonor.
BEAUTIFUL! Kit!!! 🔥 stunning! Seen your interview on #PVT last night. I was on the chat. 👊🏼👊🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

When placing your order, state to your dealer that you want them installed in lieu of the standard.
Why did you chose to have the shells get thinner as the diameter got bigger? They obviously sound INSANE but I’m curious about the logic behind it.

Is there some reason I hear this grove on almost all Sq2 demos??? First thing I did when I set up mine was plays this intro groove. These drums sound so so good they put spell on ya, caution
They were probably my demos. 😂🤣😂 it's mainly because they're different kits, woods, series, so people can clearly hear differences between them.

Perfect.

Does your black kit have the same tuning hardware on the kick as this one does? Or is it something they just added recently to the higher end kits?
No, the SQ1 uses a drum key to adjust, and standard SQ2 is knobs.

Love your videos! how would you even go about getting that beautiful finish. Haven't seen it on Sq2 config.

No more than a Collector's Exotic, Masterworks, Star, or PHX.
The profit margins on these "exotic" woods for brands like this and DW must be WILD. Scam.
