As a drummer myself I feel the need to tell you this: Amazing drumming. I've been watching a lot of videos about the SQ2 and I trully believe I may have found my dream kit. The sound is just incomparable to anything I've ever heard. It's just amazing. Your drumming makes it sing. You should be really proud of yourself. Amazing technique and great demonstration of what this kit is actually capable of. Very very good work man ❤️. Please NEVER stop drumming.
No way someone who plays like this would ever stop. People who would stop don’t have that feeling i’ve taught many and it is just something some people have. I wish I had an sq2 kit but signature bubinga are nice but at this point nearly impossible to tune.

Seen a lot of drum demos, I have to say this is probably the best I've seen in terms of showing off tom sounds going beyond the usual individual hits and using grooves/a musical context. Wonderful playing and great tribal rhythms.
I keep coming back to this, probably the best sounding drum vid on YT right now. I’ve played it through headphones, in-ears, my phone speakers and a full P.A. Sounds incredible every time! It might be time to invest in myself and get some SQ 2’s I think.

What I enjoy about this video is he just plays and doesn't do a bunch of talking.. Today when people make videos they talk too much. People want to hear the instrument and the musician behind the instrument. Last but not least that's that's some good drumming.. And nice sounding drums!

This was an awesome demo. I ordered a beech Sonor with medium rack toms and thin floor toms and your video convinced me that ordering thinner floor toms was a good idea. I never understood kits that got thicker as the drums got bigger. I want my floor toms to have low end and sustain.

I especially like that "sub bass tone/"sub bass drone" resulting by all those toms resonating together during your solo. Glad you did not use any gates on the toms. Drums should be allowed to sing! Really cool!
The sound of heavy birch is nothing short of awe-inspiring. A thick shell with a deep fundamental note is so musical. Eames custom drums makes a kit very similar to that. If you already have quality hardware from an existing kit, then you can get a 6pc kit for under $2K.....which is a spectacular price for a custom handmade kit.
I have tons of DW gear which I really enjoy, however if I had to do over again I'd probably would go with Sonor. This kit sounds amazing and your playing Mr. Holler is on point.!!!!!
I had a DW Collector’s for 20 years, sold it and all my DW hardware and two other kits five years ago to buy a Sonor SQ2 beech kit. I was never really happy with the way any of my drums sounded…until now. It’s never too late!

I probably would have bought it if I didn’t already have my SQ2s. However, I am now saving up for one of these SQ2 birch kits, and I am going to try and get almost every size from 8 to 18, in high gloss vintage onyx. Just wanted to let you know…LOL
Thank you very much! I chose because I prefer my toms lower and flatter with positioning, and 12X9 I have to raise and angle to a position I don't prefer.

I am a DW guy. Not one thing wrong with that well built kit.Seems like more tone coming through on it also. You tune your drums really good. I would love to see a video on your tunings.
@@AMDpc067 sonor maple sound amazing too, Gavin Harrison has used Sonor maple most of his career and his sound was widely reguarded as one of the best drum tones ever.
I can't tell if the floors are medium or thin but whatever they are, it's the "magic ply". If you can build and suspend a floor tom on 3 legs and it manages to sound like those, you are the King Midas of drum engineers. Great playing too.

Sonor doesn't make a " thin" kick their thinnest is medium for bass drum. I went with a heavy snare because some of my favorite snares are thicker, and already had a thin shelled snare in the Protean snare and the SQ1 snare.
@@nickavenoso7851 What's stopping you? Start saving and even if it takes 2 - 3 years, at some point, you'll have enough and believe me, after all that time saving up, looking forward to the day, it'll be the best feeling ever :-)

Dw sound better in maple no doubt over sonor. However, sonor and birch own dw backwards forwards and sideways.
