Most cumbias aren't composed in the way that shows off vocal skills. Its music to dance to with like most cumbias are more about the music than lyrics.

Although what you are saying might be true, Natalia has no power whatsoever. Don´t take it the wrong way, I love this song but, Natalia has no power. People confuse a beautiful song vs the technical skills.

@@JoseCastro-bs6iw José José has said it clearly in one of his songs: "You are not who you want to be, you are who you can be" And, Natalia, is not a true singer. I mean, she has great talent, she writes lyrics and sings her own songs, but not a remarkable voice. Don´t let fanatism damp your objectivity. This is why I like Frank's reactions.

@@iaber1698 Opera sucks and they're trained in the classical way, they're supposed to have the best trained voices, but nobody cares about Opera singer and their " beautiful voice". Some people are borned singers, others have to trained to become " mediocre singers. Placido domingo try to sing mariachi song, with that " beautiful" voice of his, he sounded horrible. So, is it because we dont truely understand or appreciate his talent, or is it they're trying to convince us that he has a beautiful voice. When in reality he's a mediocre signer. Music is not an acquiring taste , like that nasty wine that makes people feel pretentious. If the art of music or singing doesn't captured you with in the first 20 seconds, then is probably not that good. Opera is like Latin, nobody care about it

Natalia wrote The song, but this is a cover by "los ángeles azules" a band very famous in México and latinoamerica. That's why this video has so many views. Also its a good song hahaha
Natalia shines better when she sings other songs like "tu si sabes quererme", "que he sacado con quererte", "hasta la raíz", "la fugitiva".

This particular genre does not require much voice power since there's several instruments playing, a mellow soft voice fits better. Natalias tiny desk concert is a good example of what she can do with her voice.

This genre of music... There are not enough words to explain the amount of culture in Cumbia in Mexico and Latin America. Mariachi and Cumbia can very well be the root of it all. It's home:)

Rancheras, Banda and Norteñas are usually sung with a lot of passion. A lot of popular songs in Mexixan culture are about heart break and their voices portray almost a cry of desperation, of emotions if you will, in the way they sing. These songs that are cumbias are generally meant to be catchy in their rhythms and are meant more to get crowds dancing. Thanks for your honest reviews!

Both the musical group (Los Angeles Azules) and the singer (Natalia L.) are from México, very popular in the country and also in all latin america. The style (cumbia) super popular also. She wrote the song not to long ago and it has an original version, more like pop rock. Then Los Angeles Azules invite several artist to record and perform with them.

Here is my explanation, Natalia sang this song on her own back in 2015 with more of a pop sound to it, that other video has close to 100 million views. She composed it together with someone else (Maria Daniela Azpiazu Tamayo / Maria Natalia Lafourcade). On the other hand the Angeles Azules made an incredible comeback a few years ago after having been almost forgoten a couple of decades ago. Their music is in cumbia rythm (orginally from Colombia but that has taken root not mmmjw in Mexico but in many other countries for decades). They've been doing many feats. with many pop singers but this particular melody and video has struck a nerve! You will hear and see it in every damn party in the country, a song not meant to be dance music all of a sudden is turned into dance music!...It is a stroke of genius! By the way I could see Denise Gutierrez (Luna) as part of the next Angeles Azules video as one of their earlier feats. Natalia and Denise sang together for the Bicentennial along with Alondra de la Parra. So long!

  • @Caprizonica
    @Caprizonica 4 года назад +2

This is a song of hers adapted by the band, Los Angeles Azules. The style is Mexican cumbia, a rythm originated in Colombia that has been changing throughout the years in Latin America. We love that style in Mexico. The love to that music style had been growing exponentially over the years. I believe the style is also called "sonidero". Very particular of Mexico city. Lafourcade is a pop singer. Not great pipes but a distictive tone. Her strength is songwriting and indie stuff, just like Mon Laferte, althought Mon has a wider vocal range. This might be her biggest hit so far. She had recorded it a couple of years ago in a pop style.

Thank you for taking the interest on our music, some artist specially from the past were great vocalists, the talent they had and the dedication invested in perfecting their craft to be great and to keep improving, is a sad reality from most of today's so called professional singers like this girl, she's a far cry from the real singers that me and my parents and grandparents were accustomed.
Nowadays is really a hit and miss. some people, even here in this chat have no idea what a good singer sounds like and request this type of garbage that puts a stain on our music.
I still thank you for your interest and honest opinion, I love the fact that you call it for what it t is, she might be famous in this era, but 20-30 yrs ago when real singers were everywhere, she wouldn't ever been able to get on a stage.
Thanks again my friend and keep it real!

Natalia is an alternative pop singer, she’s known and is popular for her unique style of singing. This song is basically a remix of one of her songs which she released in 2015, I believe. Cumbia is a very popular genre in all of Latin America. So her beautiful song and the sound of cumbia seemed to have combined perfectly together and so it became very popular. I personally prefer the original version.

One way this song could be describe is that it's like a hang over love remedy to dance your emotions away and make you feel good again without the dramatization.
This type of music is not only for listening, but it is really ment for dancing. And yes, the original version is also soothing and the lyrics are meaningful.
In fact, most of their songs are that way. It's just one style of several in the cumbia genre.

I'm not a connoisseur in terms of music or singing, and also even tho I'm mexican I do not tend to listen to this genre of music I can try to explain it, this kind of songs and usually Cumbia, Rancheras or Musica de Banda, are usually for the popular taste, these songs are more meaningful if you understand the lyrics, because these are usually talking about love and feelings everyone have to go through in life, there are the kind of songs that you can sing to when you're heartbroken, it's more of a folkish style, people usually drink while listening and sing along(or dance too), although some of this songs can have more vocal production and high level singing in some cases, for this one in particular and many others are more like sort of like a storytelling through a song, like if the signer is telling the story about her love and how she suffered so you can relate to it, that is why you feel like she is sort of plain and not sustaining the notes too long.

  • @jesusmacedo8331

Natalia Lafourcade has enjoyed success mainly as a songwriter and the unique style in which she delivers her songs. She has a very nonchallant way of singing and performing her songs. Her songs also tend to be a bit more involved composition-wise than your average pop song. While she also has a nice voice, people don't usually think of her because of her voice but more because of her songs. You should definitely hear her original studio version of this same song, you can get a better feel of her type of music.
On the other hand, Los Angeles Azules are one of the biggest Cumbia (a style of latin music, not as fast-paced as salsa) group right now. They recently performed in Coachella which is very rare for these types of bands. This song is included in a sort of collaboration album they did with various famous hispanic singers, where they took the original versions of the songs and made a cumbia version out of it (similar to Santana's Supernatural but arranging and playing the colaborators' songs instead).
The amount of views is due to this coming together of two big names in the latin music industry, as well as the song itself becoming a huge fan-favorite at parties, celebrations, nightclubs, etc.

I feel like showing her vocals would seem arrogant so this way is the perfect way to enjoying her and the cumbia group that made the cover of her song. Sometimes you have to know that is not always about yourself, it's about the people that is around you. I can't explain myself better.

This might be a cultural difference. Mexicans and Latin Americans in general are happy people. Music and dancing is a big part of the culture. Los Angeles Azules is an old school cumbia group that had a large following. Cumbia is a dancing genre. Natalia is from a different genre and she was featured in this song so it was a nice twist. When listening to this type of music it’s about the lyrics, sure, but it’s also about the rhythm to dance. Los Angeles Azules came back after a long hiatus and had a nice song + nice lyrics + good rhythm + featured artist twist = 752 million views.

The reason it has a lot of views is because it was very popular in this genre of music. The band is what made it "bigger" not the singer..
the band "Los Angeles Azules" are well known and successful in Mexico... They actually have wayy better singers but Natalia features with them in this song. I also don't think she is extraordinary, just decent..

In case, like me, you wondered what a corrido is: The corrido (Spanish pronunciation: [koˈriðo]) is a popular narrative song and poetry that forms a ballad. The songs are often about oppression, history, daily life for peasants, and other socially relevant topics.

Is a remake of the song of the same name by Los Angeles Azules but now featuring Natalia. This is one of the types of songs that are popular for dancing in mexican parties. The remake of old songs stared with them and Juan Gabriel it was a way of engaged the young and also the nostalgic feeling of the old.

Los ángeles azules is a very very famous and popular mexican agrupation played in every wedding or important family party, but its popular music, some snob people may say its for the poor or not a fancy style, Natalia its more middle class pop kind of music, so this mashup maked a bomb, it would be like maybe britney spears singing country just for make a comparison

This song is kind of new, made by Natalia, and this is a remake in Mexican Cumbia. The original song is even better to me, is so sad but remarcable. I think the best cumbia song of Los Angeles Azules is "El listón de tu pelo", you must watch both songs 😉

Yes, this is just a different genre. Cumbia is about dancing more than anything and rythm. the reason this song was extremely popular is because the is an old song from Los Angeles Azules, well known group from Mexico. Natalia is a new artist very popular in all of Latin America. So they decided to do a remake the song featuring Natalia Lafourcade. And Cumbia, the genre, Is perfromed from Mexico to Argentina. Hence you have the immense amount of views from all over Latin America, and probably a big portion of the United States as well.

Natalia sings well. She's not Juan Gabriel or Vicente Fernandez, but she does sing well live. A good example of her singing live is on NPR Tiny Desk Concert.

This group is very famous around Latin America as a cumbia dance group, which is a cousin of salsa. They did a extremely successfull dvd concert and tour with famous pop singers as guest stars. Like this one with Natalia LaFourcade,
a famous pop star in Mexico that was a guest singer. She writres her one music and has a pop version of this song with beautiful folkish overtones that is quite beautiful and became highly popular. It is much better than this cumbia version.
She has one of the nicests duos with Juan Gabriel "ya no vivo por vivir" from JG last CD of duos with famous pop stars from Mexico and Latin America. You will love her sweet endesring voice and the rapour with Juan Gabriel. One of his sweet lovely style songs.

You’re right. The voice is very subdoed and as you say it is intentional, because the music is meant to be the protagonist, since it’s a dancing song

Combo of Natalia Lafourcade and Angeles Azules, two of the biggest names in contemporary Mexican (really Latin American) music, thus the big views number. You want to hear Natalia belt? React Grammy performance of La Llorona along with Angela Aguilar and Aida Cuevas, which in itself is a great video.

I think the most request that people are asking you is for the popularity and not so much for the quality of the voice, the first reactions was amazing , José José, Juan Gabriel, Luis Miguel, but Zoe, Natalia and other singers just are popularity or even "plastic" it's just my opinion not the true sentence. You connected rigth now with a new fans, I'm one and I really like yours reactions, comments, all. You're amazing. Thanks for share. See you.

This is not a traditional song, it’s an original song by Natalia, she wrote it and her own version has more pop style and then Los Ángeles Azules, a cumbia band, did this cover with her
