@The Tenor Drummer; I played Bass Drum (2 years in high school) and snare my last 2 years. In college my freshman year (1989 - 1990) I played Tri-toms for half the season then quads. My last 4 years of college I marched snare. I never really got the hang of quads. Our director bought 1 set of real quads and we had to "jimmy-rig" two of the trios into home made quads. Let's just say I sucked...hard on my "Franken quads." The arch the home made quads made was a tighter arch so the outside drums were way to close to the body. I have been playing 38 years total but consider my self to be a really good middle school level quad player. I am slowly learning.
Hi Brad, I have fond memories of early 90's tri-toms as well. These kids don't know how good they have it. Great to hear you're still learning, I am too!
This is incredible. I'm so glad you sent me to this video, I've always wanted to learn this lick into those last ending notes! Turns out it was so easy all this time, but just really fast! Thank you. Subscribed!
This is awesome! I attended a “Sounds of Summer” drumline camp while in high school and would have had to meet you as I got a busted drumhead with all of the line’s signatures on it (long lost and gone since then 🤷🏻♂️ - sorry…. 😆). This 2002 show has been my all time favorite since I saw you guys perform it live. 🤘🏼🤘🏼
“Fax me the music....” low key hilarious!
This lick was part of the audition packet for 2003. I still have it in my sheet music “Bible” and it’s one of my favorite licks from back in the day.
I wonder if one of the snare drummers from that year will share some of their perspective

@Tenor Drummer, my chops are pretty decent. Just haven't mastered crossovers or cross fives.
Just noticed the cavalier white suede heads back there. Nice gentle "we won DCI" flex

So glad you liked it, it's a fun lick. Thanks for the sub, tell your friends! :)
Good stuff man.
Thanks!
“I only cry a few hours a night now” 😂😂 okay but in 2013 I was called back twice and that was the most stressful 5 months of my life 😭
Yeah, that had to be rough!!

Very cool, Kevin! Welcome to the channel
If you listen to the metronome over your playing at the end, I'm afraid you ended it a beat early?
Good ear!!
