- 🤩 In this video, I will be sharing my thoughts on a very inspiring art book by Alex Hillkurtz called Sketching techniques for Artists. This book is focused on sketching and watercolor painting.
I will be also applying the learnings from this book and make my own watercolor painting following the instructions from the book.
Alex Hillkurtz is an urban sketcher and watercolor painting artist that has a background in cinematography. His book was published in 2021 and is very helpful for beginners and for more advanced artists as well.
It was really a pleasure to read this book, it charged me with a lot of inspiration and I’ve learned so many new watercolor painting and sketching techniques!

I recommend you to check him there also. He wrote the book with a lot of care, and with a unique vision, very sensitive. There is so much to learn from him 😊

I really liked the new process too. I would have been nervous to use such a bold red color in the underpainting, but in the end it turned out very well.
So happy you liked the video and the intro as well! Yes, I know the feeling with the red 😅, it seems so strong and so vibrant when it’s wet, but then when it dries it a becomes very transparent and not so bright 😊
