- Innis Chonnel Castle in Scotland, also known as Ardchonnel Castle, was one of the earliest Campbell strongholds, certainly from as early as 1308 until the present day.
The massive walls of Innis Chonnel crown the rocky southwestern end of a small island half way down the eastern shore of Loch Awe. The island and the adjacent shore are now heavily wooded, as they would not have been in the time when the castle was occupied. The trees screen the view of the island from the road and also screen the view of the castle down the loch from the north. The island runs northeast to southwest and is less than an hundred yards from shore.
After being turned into a prison the famous Castle has laid in ruins for the last 200 years, however, its beauty has remained intact with its rich history still ringing through its walls.

Favourite Ep so far, love the outro from the boys on the boat🚣♂ castle looks very spooky/class 🏰👻
Were those human bones in that dungeon? I can't imagine how hard it was to build that.
Renound clan of Scotland, aye renound as traitors, turncoats for English gold, still a good vid though 👍
The Campbells to give them their real name MacnaCaillien Sons of the Great Colin have been possession of the Lands of Lochawe since the late 12th C the surname Campbell is actually a nickname Wrymouth or Twisted Mouth applied to the Chiefs.
Interesting! Need to catch the rest when I get back to WiFi. Love bit of kayaking.
The subtitles are hilariously wrong.
YEP MINE TOO!
Was it always surrounded by water or did it have a bridge to it at some point ??
No, it has always been surrounded by water and unreachable by foot. A unique kind of Castle to say the least!
