this new format rules, but it's got me wonderin' about y'all's backlog. Y'all commented that an Oh Sees rig rundown was comin' on the Thunderpussy rig rundown trailer and I've been feverishly waitin' for it ever since.
We were to film with Jonathan Dwyer, but the band got late into Nashville and they barely had time for soundcheck, let alone film a Rundown. Hopefully next US tour!
Thanks Premier Guitar for giving Elder the opportunity to make this! Love the band and watching Rig Rundowns so i'm glad the pandemic isn't taking everything away from us.
Yes please!! I know there's a decent amount of info about Mike's rig out there and he's talked about it some but I'd love to see what his current setup is and hear him play some riffs for the show.
There is a Persian idiom that says "trees that have more fruits, having hanged their shrups lower to the ground" the more knowledgeable musicians are, the more humble they are! Elder is a very good band! look at him, he says that's my only guitar!😍 or look at Meshuggah, they are the most humble cool people around while people who copied them are the noisiest! 🥴 Thank you so much for showing Elder's rig to us! Come to Texas guys! You guys got fans here! Hope to see you live finally❤️🦖🍻🤘
Just discovered Elder today on call at the hospital. Not sure how I've missed them. They are awesome and liked the feel of this isolation rundown. It felt like we were hanging out in the basement. Lol.
Awesome to see Elder get a rig rundown. Been following them since Dead Roots Stirring and absolutely love how much they’ve blown up since then, they deserve it
Love the rundown, fellas. Very cool display and functional explanation. Keep it... I play in a doom metal band so have an ear and sometimes looking for a different sound. I love Elder music so we're all good. I realize this is 2+ years ago, but am sure things are still read. 🐑 and the vibe never dies.
I love this! Probably the best rig rundown yet. I love Elder, the fuzz tone from the BAT Coven is divine! And the ending is hilarious haha too bad though
@elderband you're about to tour in the States, right? It would be awesome to have a new rig rundown with @premierguitar ! I bet that there are quite many gear nerds like me wanting to see how you pedalwise pull out those masterpieces from the Innate Passage 🤓
i like how the Guitar says NO BRAND NO FENDER NO NAMES so it won't distract you from the simple concept that is just a Guitar (Telecaster based i know) but yeah the man has a good friend it seems cheers for that
I swear this band got me hooked on fuzz especially big muff type pedals! The BAT Pharaoh sounds so good, might be the best big muff currently available (yet I don‘t own one lol)
It was mentioned in one of the earlier posts, but there was no mention on what tuning they generally use. From what I could hear, it sounds as if they were in standard tuning for this video.

Why did they totally ignore the Laney Supergroup? Do they actually use it or is it there for good looks? I would have really liked to have known what their experience was with that amp
Ben Elder La Crescenta, California, USA Posted 2 Apr 2021 3:28 pm I just heard that Don Teeter, author of two volumes about acoustic guitar repair (where none but Irving Sloane's book on construction existed previously) died in Oklahoma City February 27th. I was about to write that I was a long-haired kid when I first visited his shop in February-ish 1970, except my basketball coach then was such a small-town regressive that that couldn't have been a likely detail. Whatever it was my long Dr. Zhivago pea coat or my obvious teenaged baby face (or was it the Fender Telecaster with a damaged nut I carried in?), he took one look and started grumbling ("Fender...Johnny-come-lately...grumble, grumble...they think they invented six-on-a-side tuners...they were doing that in Europe a century ago...grumble, grumble..."). Meanwhile, I took in the glorious chaos of his dusty converted-garage shop, bodies, parts and wood everywhere. He was proud to state that at the time he was one of only three (or was he the only one?) authorized Martin warranty repair facilities outside the factory. I suppose it was the highest and best practice to shape a new ivory (I think he said ivory in those pre-environmental consciousness days) nut on the grinding wheel, although at the time, I thought maybe I was being punished for my rock 'n' roll tendencies with that nostril-searing smell.
Haha, wie geil! Die Jungs antworten drauf!!! Elder - you are the greatest!!! As a guitarist I can say you have the best Fuzz riffs and melodies, hands down. Sanctuary Song got me on Spotify, now I am your Fan for life. Grüße aus Dresden.
Contact Michael "whit" Whitney at the wonderful store: Spindrift Guitars. He builds some of best original hardwired tube amps and pickups... period. I guess he learned a thing or two when he was a nuclear engineer for the navy. He's a good dude and has helped the band out over the last few years.
We only had a bit of the gear here that we use, but I can tell you we're using a Nord 4D for Rhodes sounds live, and a Mellotron MD4000 and Subsequent 37 in studio :)

Honored to have my Ram's Head on Nick's board.
THAT Rams Head sounds awesome. Been reviewing MANY of them for MY pedal board. (LOVE Elder)!
Which one is this?
Can’t find it for sale one the website.
Love your pedals
I’ve got your Demogorgon! Thing rips!
Thanks Premier Guitar for giving Elder the opportunity to make this! Love the band and watching Rig Rundowns so i'm glad the pandemic isn't taking everything away from us.

About bloody time!! Now get Mike Scheidt on and you’ll do us all so proud!🙏🏻🙏🏻

Go to Fuzzlord Effects. He’s got one there
"This is my only guitar" said no guitar player ever.
It's the only guitar he has in Berlin since Elder relocated. Also the only guitar he plays in the band too.
The guitarist from Khruangbin only has one !

Love this guys, and his music its from another planet
Great video. Glad to see these guys getting some attention and their gear is giving me serious rig envy.
One of best rock/metal bands around! They are like an history book of the metioned genres, but with a modern touch!
I had swamp Ash once.
I had to change my drawers.
I’m from Brazil, I’ve got really surprised when I listened Elder for the first time, great band.
One of my favorite bands
Been waiting for this for years! How did I miss it until today?!
YES. This is what I have been waiting for for a long time :D
best rig run down ever
Howling Giant then Elder? nailed it

That Coven is awesome. I must have one.
Loving the new album. Cool to get a peek behind the scenes as far as the gear goes. Stay safe!
The new album is killer!
You guys inspired me so much with the release of Lore and Reflections. Thanks for this!!!
Ok now Jack Donovan. His bass tone on Dead Roots Stirring is legendary
Both killer players TY SO MUCH
Awesome stuff. Nice shout out to Motorpsycho and Fjord Fuzz pedals! Just got that pedal myself, and it is great. It's called Fenris
Rig it up! Thanks Elder, great vid. :)

The tele does the solo on the climax near the end of Blind, I think? I love that so I think it's ideal.
holy shit i am just now finding this I LOVE ELDER

Go see Elder live! They are one of the best bands I've ever seen. They fuckin throw down

They're in Drop C for pretty much everything now - D standard for most of Dead Roots Stirring (III is Drop C) and Deadweight on Lore
This is great!

What pickups did he say are in the tele? It sounds like he says “whitten-eye”
They were handwound by him and his luthier boss at Stol Guitars.

Did he say something about shipping warehouse speakers to Berlin? Is the band based in Berlin or what?
Yup, everyone except for Jack (bassist) moved there some time ago
