I remember as a boy, my grandma had muscadines. We lived just outside of Mobile, Alabama. I remember them being much larger than a grape and they were black. My grandma also had grape vines, peach trees and three plum trees...those smaller plums that have an orange color to them. I loved all of the fruit so I guess you could say I was eating healthy as a boy. I probably ate excessively but none the less, it was healthy.....LOL. I love your videos! Have a great day!!!
I'm a new muscadine grower here in FLORIDA. I only planted them in pots. Hopefully they will thrive and yield with good produce like my Catawba and Concord. Thank you for sharing.
@@KinfolkFarmofGeorgia Wow thank you for the reply. Yes I will give updates. I just repotted it in a bigger pot. Hopefully it will bloom next year. I will upload the video soon. Have a great day.
Hello Shane, Take those clippers back. I wish I could plant something here but living in an apartment I don't have anywhere to plant anything. I hope you and your family have a great day and drive safely out there.
I grew up on a farm in Screven, Ga and we had a long lane as deive to our farm. On each side of the land all the way down were muscadines growing. We picked every year and made jellies, jams and wine. I miss that farm so much.
I never get tired of watching our chickens coming out of the coop. Lol Muscadine grapes I've not heard of before you mentioning them. I'm gonna have to check into those.
Hello Shane, I give my hens corn in the winter too. it helps them stay warm. I also have the seed mix for them too. we had seedless grapes for about 15 years. Jim pulled them out last year. they are rather week it was a test vineyard. I love the looks of the muscadine, wish we could have them her up north. we prune in the spring too. that is the best time of the year. it is an art to pruning. Not everyone knows how. 💕NonnaGrace
simple leave 1 main cordon full length of the wire cut side at 3rd node the space then the space between your thumb and little finger take any out in that space
Have you seen those pneumatic pruners? Not cheap, but look so easy to run through a vineyard. I grew up eating my mom’s homemade muscadine jelly. Best jelly ever! Can’t wait to see your huge vineyard take off this season. - Alex
Hi Shane, great video tour. Bet I know someone who would take that possum off your hands! 😂 My father-in-law gets muscedine juice by the case. Good stuff!
Gr8 vid Shane, only 1 possum in 5 days, good to see predator numbers are down. I wonder if he was at the cuff b4 the cage 😀 nice job with the vineyard, be safe out there bro 👍
That is interesting on the muskedin grapes, I had heard about them but you taught me some more on them. Thank you for taking us along and sharing your knowledge and experience with the grapes. Hey you mentioned you are going to the meetup in Oklahoma in March. We are working on being there as well, and would like to just shake your hand and meet face to face.
I Love watching your videos! I've said it before and I'll say it again. You have a Beautiful piece of property! Do you ever have issues with birds eating the grapes before they rippen?
When they ripen we do. I should have shown you guys how they grow in the wild from birds eating them. We have vines in our woods big around as your arm and they grow to the top of these big pines
We cut our feed with corn every winter (3 parts feed, 1 part corn) for the same reason...keeping the fat up. Our birds (quail and chickens) eat more in the winter and our feed cost goes nuts! Cutting with the corn has helped with that. Actual feed cost remains the same now
let them turkey hunt but not MEL lol take those back and get a better set and have you tasted the bleed on the grapes some can be real sweet or really bitter maybe you could boil it like maple syrup lol hugsssss from Ontario Canada
Do the deer eat them? I want to grow some now. I have same problem with shears - don't make an like they used to. Let me know if I have to fence muscadines from deer. Luv ya cuz
THEY LOVE THEM!! lol. Tons of different ways to keep them away. I would recommend getting them. Super easy to grow and I could help ya If ya need. Love you guys to cuz❤

I have a pair of Japanese pruning sheers and they are hands down the best I’ve ever seen. They came shaving sharp out of the box.
Nice

Not really so far they still young plants. We have to watch the deer
What variety do you have?
Ison, Supreme,Black Beauty, Darlene and Carlos
We have wild mustang grapes. They are acidic around the skins and a meaty inside with seeds inside. Was told they are muscadine.
Probably.we dont eat the skins , we throw them at each other lol. Skin fights
Bottle the liquid from the vtnes. It's very good for you.
Never heard that
Do you plant your cuttings? I've had grapes sprout in a pile that I cut in Autumn and left over the winter.
