- Daniel Lanois talks about producing. Footage includes early version of Peter Gabriel's Come Talk To Me recorded at Real World Studios, Box. Taken from Daniel Lanois docu: Ch4 July 1993.
People like Peter Gabriel and Daniel Lanois only come around once in a lifetime. Incredible tune!
That excitement on their faces because they realise that they are part of something very special right now.
Funny that there are so many recordings I love where I find this guy Daniel Lanois is involved.. His own solo record is pretty great too. True talent.
Kinda like Rick Reuben pops up here and there except Lanois is actually a musician and songwriter, and....well, he's Canadian. =D
Us and So are 2 of the greatest albums I've ever heard.
Listen to i/o.
I saw him in Toronto. The lights were up, stage hands setting up, a guy walks out and says: "Hello". We went nuts. He said "we're just going to sit around and jam some songs we're working on for the next album, like we always do, but with you. You OK with that?"
We went more nuts!
Then they did the whole SO album. Then they did a normal "Peter Gabriel concert". We were so lucky!
Nice to see Peter find his groove again.Dan Lanois brings out the best of the greatest musicians.
Great story! When was this special concert?
Would love to see Gabriel and Lanois work together on a musical project once again...a magical team that has produced magical musical results in the past. I say let history repeat itself.
Great upload...thanks for sharing.
Two of the finest artists on this planet.
This Version is the BEST vocal Performance of this song.
Never realized how talented producer Daniel is and how many albums he produced with so many groups. Great song.
Love that Danny is so invested in the song he's singing along so intensely
The 'grand peak' I like that he's thinking like a story teller like a filmmaker.
Like a painter too!
Bonne nuit Daniel Lanois, je vous dire, que votre chanson " Jolie Luis " Elle est super belle!!!❤⚘
Excellent footage of a great musical moment in time.
Peter Gabriel is an incredible writer and singer. All the way back to 'From Genesis to Revelation' and 'Trespass', it only gets better to this day.
You can hear and feel the pain, desperation and hope in his voice in this song. It's incredible.
When that strong back beat comes in on the percussion is just...*chef's kiss*
Espero que algún día Peter Gabriel y Daniel Lanois nos regalen esta versión de Come Talk To Me, que en mi opinión es la mejor versión
Just love this song ! ❤️
Not every day someone walks into your studio with a song like that
A delightful remembrance of spirit.
Thanks for posting this. Incredible, from someone who has been a fan for over 50 years.
Lanois always brings magic whoever he works with. A bit like Eno really. I of course love Peters work.
The voice
Just saw this documentary yesterday.
amazing.
Amazing ever thank you
Fantastic!
I'd pay anything to go back in time and be a fly on the wall and watch Peter in the studio while recording So and Us
Magical moments
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks
Dan is the Man.
Shame there's no available studio edition of this song whose ending is miles better than the long fade out in the album.... Lanois and Gabriel are genius ..
That fade-out is so weird. The song is one of my favourites, but that ending...
A creative peak is a very interesting idea to stop projects running over into that false strive for perfection. Indeed, it feels like PG might appreciate some of Daniel's assistance again to help bring in all the unheard material that may get overworked and we are all dying to see released?
gracias
love this for please talk too me
;]
2:55 love how they're just about holding it together
💎Perfect!!!💎
Daniel Lanois worked with all the best rock star/group of the world, has Gabriel or U2... I don't understand why he's not more celeb...
+Vincent C Because he is a real musician, and a sought after producer. He never wanted much fame for himself, instead he focused on collaborating with world class artists. But his own albums and projects are musical gems.
Shame on me, i've never bought Daniel personnal album/work...
As you fill out your Lanois collection, make sure to grab Emmylou Harris' Wrecking Ball.
Vincent C, have you ever heard the Emmylou Harris album Wrecking Ball? Produced by Daniel L. It's one of here best.
So few views... What a great artist!
Nice Version...
Good lesson
like how he made that resonance guitar into an electric
Is a steel guitar!....
It is a resonator guitar.. it has a resonator cone made of metal
Daniel Lanois has a solo album that's pure gold: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acadie_(album)
Agreed. For the Love of Wynona is also up there.
Acadie, for the Beauty of Wynonna, Shine, Black Dub, and so much more
My feeling is this is the studio version of the song with their rehearsal audio at the end.
Peace be to you,
Music is the language of Heaven.
It is written.
Elijah with Enoch
This is a fascinating clip. Is there more from this Lanois doc available?
❤🌺
Never seen Peter with hair this long since his Genesis days.
Looks better with short cropped hair.
oh my lord - every time I see Peter Gabriel now - or more specificially, hear his voice - I think straight away of Brian Pern...
Wow a studio (albeit rehearsal) version of Come Talk To Me with a proper ending, and not that terrible long fadeout that's on the album.
💜
Lanois coaxes magic from that geetar
makes me wonder:is there any more footage on the making of the incredible"us"album?
as of now there is. check this out from PG ruclips.net/video/Cs7lxCG_sug/видео.html blessings, peace and love to you and all!
The video all about us!....
Daniel, I´m in love with you!
Didn't Daniel Lanois work with U2 as well?
Yes. For the joshua tree, achtung baby, zooropa etc
@@nguitar3456 Ah, no wonder this had a Joshua Tree sound to it.
No loljk
Cool
like to be a fly on the wall for that one....
Lanois explanation about the meaning of the song was completely scoofed! It's written to one of his daughters (Mel I think)
who had stopped talking to him after an argument.
is this part of a longer doc ? there's also some footage of him doing some vocalese for a Passion track and his hair is '73 length...I'm a big Genesis/Floyd collector if anyone trades on Yeeshkul and Genesis-Movement...
it is part of a CBC documentary. canadian broadcasting society in 1993. when i find a long version i will post it on this trending chat
@@sablap666 Thank you, indeed!....
@@sablap666 Did it ever turn up?
Birdy was great.
What mic is Peter using? Looks similar to the Blue condensor microphones. Anybody know? I love trying different vocal microphones. Great making of documentary!
Who is playing the other guitar? What a lesson on production, to understand the organic process, not commit a serious artistic sin.
Rhodes
the keyboard seems a WAVESTATION by korg
Is this clip part of a longer documentary??
is there a vrsion without the talking? not this demo doc version?
Who's on bass at 2:04?
+Adriən Evangelista
Looks like Daryl Johnson who plays with Lanois a lot.
@@LeviTate2000 No, he's not!....
Yes it is Daryl Johnson
What mic is Peter singing into?
i think it's a neumann CMV-563
Is PG impersonating Bob Dylan, at certain moment's? Brilliant!
Yes I think that's the in-joke. I seem to recall Gabriel saying in an interview that that chorus was Dylany
I would have said don't say come talk to me as much.
PG had long hair around 1990-91, but in a few years he will be bald.
