The TRs should run alongside the T1s on the BD as a mixed fleet, like how the R62As ran alongside the R188s on the 7 train up until CBTC was completed. Nice video.
Actually there was one summer I think it was either 2006 or 2007 or it might have been 2016 or 2017 where the TRs did run alongside the T1’s on line 2 only because some of the T1’s were having A/C problems and so they wouldn’t have a train shortage on line 2 and so the passengers wouldn’t melt while riding on line 2 and while they fixed all the T1’s with A/C problems they used some TR trains on line 2 temporarily to make up for the T1’s with A/C problems while they were getting their A/C’s fixed
Really cool to hear the robotic voice pronouncing all the station names. I like Susan's voice but it'll be nice once the rockets make their way over to Line 2.
They aren't. New trains are being bought for line 2, tr's will stay on line 1. Future: Line 1:TR and new train for yonge extension Line 2:New trains only Atleast, thats the plan. You don't know what could change
Same, I honestly dont like the recorded announcments at all their impossible to hear. Plus, on the TRs the operators can use text to speech to send a message on the train where on the T1s they need to use their mic and you can’t hear what their saying..
I saw at least one today at Main Street Station, and I believe I heard one pass through Broadview Station. A subway driver told me they had four TR trains on Line 2 on July 18, 2016.
T1s are confirmed to last until year 2026. They are said to have a very strong lifespan that exceeds any of the h series by a huge amount. But the TRS are expected to replace some bad T1s by 2021. Eventually, they will have to be putting TRS on Line 2 because the line will have an extension in the 2020s. They will only be able to order new rolling stock and their only choice will be the trs
No, T1s will last until 2036. TTC is upgrading T1s to make them stay in service for ten more years. It is a lot more cheaper to fix up the T1s than to replace them with new TRs. The "Life Extension Overhaul" program will have the intent of operating the T1 fleet for a total of 40+ years.
Enough with the false rubbish T1s arent "bad trains" the "bad t1s" wont get replaced till 2036-2040 as well as the "good t1s" stop getting free likes for no reason.

I was talking to one of the drivers in February and asked about when more of these train sets should be taking over and he said they should be in service in late 2017.
I'm pretty sure they won't be coming to Line 2 until 2020-2021, since they need to install something on Line 2, also because the T1's are perfectly fine for now.
Lyoman Inventor, They need to install ATC signalling on Line 2 in order for Line 2 to be compatible for TR's. Line 1 already has ATC from Vaughan to Spadina, and will get it fully by 2019.
Line 2 will not be getting ATC until at least 2025 due to the construction of the Eglinton Crosstown (scheduled to be complete in sept. 2021) and the continuing crapshow that is the line 2 expansion to the Town Center which still hasn't gotten shovels in the ground due to city council who can't make up their minds.
I can't believe nobody minded you filming in the subway. I was taking pictures of the MBTA (Boston's metro) trains and stations and some people looked at me with evil glares...
You know what, for the light up subway maps in the Toronto Rocket trains, it was kind of a waste for Bombardier to put LED lights in for Line 3. Line 1 was the first one to get Toronto Rocket trains, so the map on that line would light up Line 2 at Bloor-Yonge, St. George, and Spadina, and Line 4 at Sheppard-Yonge. When Line 4 got Toronto Rocket trains, the map would light up Line 1 at Sheppard-Yonge. So if the only possible way for Line 3 to be lit up on the map, would be for the Toronto Rocket trains to be on Line 2, then why would they put it in? Because I'm sure that Bombardier knew that the TTC wasn't gonna put Toronto Rocket trains on Line 2 before the closer of Line 3. (Once again, rest in peace Line 3.) But I guess it was useful in this situation, and we'll never see it again.
Next time you ride a Line 1 train, go up to the map of lights above any door, and run your fingers through where Line 3 used to be mapped. The holes for the lights are still there.
I think TTC should start investing in Toronto Rockets and start using them for Line 2 and get rid of of the old trains. Line 2 should be rapid transit just like line 1
