This is one of the best one of these done to date. I could listen to JM read a box of cereal and it would lead to some revelation.

I will always respect records set in the IPF. The IPF possesses the most legit records. IMO

Since we're talking "600"... In the '80's, Anatoli Pisarenko clean and jerked that number in training. I saw his WR 585 in Allentown, PA. I am not dubious about either accomplishment. The real kicker is that feat might only be accomplished again on the world stage in just a few weeks' time in Paris.

Heres a question Id like to ask JM As a man that went up amd down in weight classes did he find he was stronger going up than coming down? For example when he went from 225 and got to 250 wqs he stronger or weaker than 6 or however many months later when he came down from 275 to 250 ?

The reason I ask is that I believe he said he would set PRs going up so when he got to 300 lbs he was stronger than ever but i am curious as he lost the weight and got back to 250 was he weaker than when he was 250 but adding weight.

@@mightyquinn5135 I think what JM was getting at (around 3:00) was that each time he would cut to make the weight class he competed in he would be stronger than when he was bulking up. So he would pursue his strength while bulking, and try to preserve it while cutting. I believe he said he was stronger as each year goes by, so probably pushed extreme strength training each bulk.

One point of refinement - the body uses carbohydrates as the first source of fuel for living it fuels muscles as well as your brain. The next preferred source of energy is either protein or fat and which one depends on your diet and a couple of other factors. If you don't have good proteins in your diet while you are dieting to lose body weight, you will lose lean mass (muscle). I know JM knows this, he just didn't feel he needed to add it to the discussion. If anyone doesn't know, JM was one of the top bench pressers in his time and his journey to press 600 was epic :)

If that's all then why isn't everyone benching 600lbs? You are just mad because you know you could never do it no matter how many drugs you took.

So what Im hearing is that you don’t burn muscle when you cut? Why do so many people seem to think you burn muscle when you cut weight?

With some body types, you need to "lose" a lot of muscle to look very cut with body building, John did a video on how those with pot belly body type are at a huge disadvantage.

I mean..i guess i can see where you are coming from..Really it comes down to "I LIFT and compete with myself"...VS..."I LIFT to compete with others in a judged sanctioned competition"..One is on your own..the other is a group competition...However if i were to film myself benching 2000lbs I would consider myself the strongest bencher on the planet..I have video proof and im sure spotters etc there with me..NOW would I be written down in the books as the worlds strongest bencher? Likely not..BUT that dont take the achievement away. I guess thats my take on it..AND as someone who worksout at home..

Yes it does and you know it does. I could sucker punch an MMA champion and knock him out. Does that mean I'm an MMA champion? No because I didn't beat him in a sanctioned fight under a rule set. You are fooling yourself.
