My 65 was a college graduation present to me.Brand new from a Chicago dealer. They added power brakes before delivery. It was a 283 2v and power glide. HOW DO YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT a gift? I did race a 327 and I kept up to around 40 or 50. Mine had a vacuum gage where yours has a clock. My clock was in the dash probably in front of the passenger. A daily driver made it a rust issue. Front fender where it joined a add on panel in front of the wheels. Gone in 66. corners of rear window collected water and there was no drain. Today I would have fixed these using caulk of some kind after my first repair. It was a nice car that was quiet on the road, I also add the FM converter for the radio.
No carpet in truck, just a vinyl mat covering the trunk floor. I am the 3rd owner of a '65 Impala SS, 327/300 (matching numbers), 4 speed, posi traction, white/white, fully restored. My first car back in high school (late 60s), was a '65 Impala SS, 327/250, powerglide, green with black interior. I just wanted to have another while I was still on this earth.
back in 1976 my dad gave me a 65 impala ss for graduation , just like that one . black with black interior and black vinyl top , had the 327 and 2speed power glide , cragers and duel exhaust. loved that car, wish I had it today.
I grew up with the father of this young man and remember when his dad bought the Impala. Very nice tribute to his father's love of classic cars. His '65 is in the very good hands of his son with an iron grip.
The '65 Impala SS is my favorite collectible Chevy. I love the Cadillac-like grill and headlight surrounds, a la '64 Caddy, the new for 65 dashboard and the distinctive taillights. Plus, improvements over '64 such as the great Turbo Hydramatic transmission and other improvements. I don't like the '66 styling nearly as much, even though changes are minor.
Brings back memories. My Dad's '65 Impala was also black, but wasn't the SS version. It was a four-door, 6-cylinder model. I think my favorite part is the taillights. They were so boss.......
Love the car man. I remember my Dad's 65 four-door. I always watch the speedometer standing up on the back seat. Brings back memories thanks for sharing.
I owned a 1965 Impala SS 337.300 HP. Ordered the car new in Sept 1964 had to wait for 3 extra months because GM went on Strike...No Carpet.in the trunk.
The vinyl trunk mats were funky gray plaid things. Your 65 is absolutely gorgeous! I did a 65 SS in 91. We couldn’t find a driver’s side quarter panel, so I had to rework the existing one. You know how shapely it is, and this one was hammered, so it worked me for about two weeks. He chose a beautiful medium blue pearl instead of the original white. It was sweet😉😁
Thank you. It's a blast to drive and I'm sure it will get more miles on it this year than the last 10 years combined. Yes, the quarters on these are shapely and I can imagine the difficulty recreating it.
@@turbofiregarage8786 You are so welcome and I even was thinking about a 1966 lmpala Supersport that l almost had and fell into the rong hands was just Roman red and white leather lnterior Engine 283 CID 195HP the 65 & 66 full size lmpala Supersports are such great quality and body lines so smooth
Beautiful car! In 1983 I had a 66 Impala SS with a 396 Turbo Hydra Matic that was white with blue interior. Wish I still had it and it was in as nice of shape as yours. I always thought the 65 tail lights looked better than the 66
Wow your dad had some great style. Triple Black 65 SS Impala very cool! That car is still like brand new! I like your RUclips name and the 409 build should be really cool
Yes, he sure did and thank you. No matter what he had he always kept it in as good of shape as he could and that's one of the things I'd like to think he passed onto me. I sure wish he could be here to do the 409 but I know he will be looking down with a smile.
Sweet ride! I graduated the year you were born and had a 1967 Chevelle SS. Just shows how timeless and beautiful the cars of this era were. So glad you could share that love of cars with your Dad. My Dad bought a new 66 Malibu fresh out of high school but by the time I bought mine he passed.
Great story about a great car i got my 65 Impala ss 6 months ago enjoy working and detailing it with my 3 kids , building great memories with them ,good tribute video for your dad ,I'll post a pic of our 65 good stuff buddy 👍
I had a friend back in school that drove a factory sleeper. He bought it from his dad's friend, that owned a chevy dealership. Looking back, I'm sure it was a copo car. 65 Belaire 2 door, 396/425 Corvette engine, 4 speed, posi rear. Your dad's 65 ss is beautiful, nice tribute!
Yo my friend nice ride, but you must put a fan shroud on the VEHICLE.your hurting it without, even if coolant reads right,,,,,,I have seen this many times and dont understand the risk,,,I have a Done up 66'Impala SS ZZ502/600HP..5SPD,3:42 MOSER 12 BOLT POSI .HAPPY TRAILS,WISH MY SON GAVE A SHIT ABOUT ME THE WAY YOU DO FOR YOUR DAD,,,,PEACE
Thank you. I thought so. Carpet would also hold moisture and help to speedup corrosion. I'm not sure which owner installed it but it's heavily glued down so it will be staying.
Really nice car and thanks for sharing the video, its getting harder to find thorough video of near original condition cars like yours which can be helpful for those who are trying to rebuild one. So many of these have been crushed or otherwise modified in ways that are not representative of the original condition.
Yes, it is getting harder to find cars that represent their true originality, as they deteriorate and owners replace interiors with modern reproductions of inferior quality something is lost and while the Impala only retains its original interior when I install the 409 it will be as close to original looking as possible.

Yessir, thank you
I had 65 ss that was a light green loved that car had a big block too
Nice. Was it an early 65 with the W-motor or a late 65 with the 396 ?

Right, the deletion of the 3 individual tail lights in favor of a bar with 3 lights in it, is what I am not a fan of
I loved seeing your dad down in the engine well. It was SO easy to work on these because of that...just crawl down in there and hang out
That's right. That was several years before I was born.
I just come to look and torture myself with old memories of my own '65 SS's...beautiful car!such details!
Beautiful car, my Dad bought a 65 Caprice for Mom.Each of these 65 Impalas have a story about them. Beautiful cars, and man what a ride!
Nice story. My favorite year for Impala's. I was a kid in the 60's and grew up with those classics.

Yes, they are quite the automobile for sure. I'll be doing another "on the road" video so please stay tuned.

I do love the vinyl tops,,,,when I was restoring mine,2dr hardtop SS I WAS VERY CLOSE TO PUTTING ONE ON,BUT COULD NOT FIND ORIGINAL TRIM FOR IT,
Sweet ride! I graduated the year you were born and had a 1967 Chevelle SS.
Just shows how timeless and beautiful the cars of this era were.

Appreciate your video my father owned a base 65 Impala 396/325 hp maroon black interior.
Absolutely love the story you shared of this car.I myself own and in the middle of a rebuild of a 65.
Thank you, best of luck on the rebuild it can definately be a pain but the final product is well worth it.
Your dad picked a great car and has been blessed with a good son. Thanks for taking care of her...may your dad continue to rest in peace.
Thank you very much.
Gorgeous car

Great car and story. I am certain carpet in the trunk was not an option as they came with a gray houndstooth vinyl mat.
Thank you. I thought so. Carpet would also hold moisture and help to speedup corrosion. I'm not sure which owner installed it but it's heavily glued down so it will be staying.
Beautiful car
Thank you
RIP to your dad! Beautiful ride. I just made a video of my dads, Chevelle, unfortunately, he passed 2 weeks ago
This year has exacted a heavy toll. All we can do is honor and pay tribute to their memory as best we can and drive forward.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
My mom had one of these in the early 70's light blue exterior.....

Nice tribute..great car. Maybe should have gone with a 396..??
It's so good to see the love of cars passed down from generation to generation! Nice job, keep it up!
Thank you, it's sure been a lot of fun and I will keep it going !
Shark🦈
Let me know if u wanna sale this 65 Chevy impala ss it will look nice in my driveway
Nice looking '65, but with engine swap and upgrade in tranny, it is not an original.
Thank you.
It is not original now so I don't see a problem in building the dream.
Only an idiot would upgrade the master cylinder and keep it for wheel, drum breaks, why?
Not sure what you mean ???
40 years and have never been unable to stop the car. Stops better with these custom shoes than my disk brake 1970 Torino.
BEAUTIFUL 🙏
