This is by far the best gaming community I have had the honor to be a part of, this weekend was so much fun. Thank you Simon and the team for such a beautiful game that can bring us all together, and thank you Louie for helping bring this masterpiece the attention it deserves!
Great to hear Simon's team has growth of the game and getting product to stores to host events on his radar. I'm still having trouble finding a place to play. (Get out of here table top simulator! I want to play in person.)
It seemed like he was pushing back when you were giving constructive feedback said you needed more supply and had to buy from the secondary market; was I interpreting that right?
Most important over the next 5 years is to have the Booster Box be the flagship product of Sorcery: Contested Realm. We have seen the failure of MetaZoo that was created by having too many promos and not focusing enough on putting fun gameplay value into their Booster Boxes. MtG strayed away from championing their booster boxes and now is getting back on track by getting rid of Set boxes and focusing on Play boosters. They still have to get rid of Collector boxes, Amazon dumps, Secret Lair, and promotional reprints of the Reserved List.... oh right, I almost forgot. A Reserved List of the most powerful cards in Sorcery would be a good idea. But what cards do you put on the Reserved List? I would say that when it is time to ban a card, it goes on the Reserved List. If there are multiple formats, and a card is banned in one format but not the other, that banned card goes on the Reserved List so collectors have to trade for that Reserved List card to play in a competitive tournament in that Classic format. For the next 2 years, the game is so new that we don't need a Reserved List....yet.
Sorcery is a great game, but it does need more instant speed interaction, more sweepers, more combo, and more cards which many players consider un-fun. We also need more "bad" cards that are fun to play, but never see play in top tier decks. This will lead to the creation of multiple formats. Sorcery: Classic will be an oldschool Sorcery format, whereas Sorcery: Cutting Edge, or Sorcery: Nouveau can be a format where you can use the newest cards. I wouldn't create these multiple formats for a few years, when the top decks all run the same suite of 8-10 cards. There might be a format in the future where the cards that have previously been used in over 70% of all top decks are banned in that format, but I advise that no card is ever banned in every format. We also need a website like Scryfall, where Sorcery brewers can take a deep dive into brewing decks through combos of cards. At the moment, the game is very board focused, which is good for the first 3 years of the game, but in the 4th year, we will need to branch out into more combo and board control.

Great interview, Louie and Simon! Awesome stuff!
Have 1 unopened Alpha box. Bought 3 betas and opened 2. 1 beta box had a foil philosopher stone followed by non foil ruby core. Pretty exciting.
Thanks for the interview, Louie. Love the back and forth between the two of you. Keep digging for answers! Appreciate it!

8:38 for the record Louie, I agree with you about WOTC and commander but that was some politician level backtracking 😂
Mr. Swan! Always a pleasure to see him get interviewed.
Great interview!

George and Josh are going to roast him for this 😂😂
