Storyline:
The life of Tom Rosser, a town-taming gunman-for-hire, takes a turn when a bullet meant for him, from the gun of a renegade, Lee Ring, kill's Rosser's wife, Carol, instead. Ring, had been sent by the ruthless Kansas gang-leader, Riley Condor, to kill Rosser. The latter goes to White Plains, supposedly to look over property to but his agenda is to kill Condor. Word gets around that Rosser is in town and Condor realizes that his gunslinging henchmen, Horsinger, Tavenner, Slim Akins, Flon and Ring, are no match for Rosser, and he sets in motion a plan that will use the law to eliminate Rosser.

Also, Terry Moore, as a fast-talking lass, provides a romantic interest (in a bad marriage with Kelley) more interesting than most. Making this a nifty character-driven time-filler also including Barton MacClane, Richard Jaekel, Lon Chaney Jr., Pat O'Brien, Roger Torrey (a giant baddie providing the best fist-fight)...

BEAUTIFUL western movie
I watch westerns just to relax and this one is great with a surprisingly great cast of actors.
It's amazing that this Western mirrors the current state of our country, only difference is the movie is just a town, we the people have to contend with a corrupt Government

How did I ever miss THIS one? After nearly being burned out by a bunch of mediocre spaghetti's, this surprise comes along. Thank you. There are so many stars performing unusual roles in this unusual Western it's hard to know where to begin. For one, DeForest Kelley is as far away from "Bones" McCoy as he can get, and this was the year before he got that role. Many thanks again.

I love Dana Andrews, but I’ve never watched it because I don’t like horror or sci-fi movies.
I just watched “the night of the demon” this evening on TV. The protagonist character based on real life occultist Alistair Crowley.
Great western movie I love watching old westerns because they're clean they're great for your family to watch the movie was awesome all the way through and I love when the good guys win thank you.
When l want 2 chill out and switch off l take in quite a few westerns one after the other . This one is an oldie but a goodie .

dana Andrews is one of my all time favorite actors...he is in so many very excellent films. In 1945 he was in "Laura," with Gene Tierney...Great actor.
Nice ending, hurt badly, but will recover, and most of all, he is going to ger very nice wife!
GREAT WESTERN, NEVER LACKING IN ACTION. COOL GUY, DANA ANDREWS PLAYED HIS PART WELL TO KEEP THE FILM MOVING. WITH A PRETTY CONCLUSUVE ENDING. PROVING THE GOODIES ALWAYS WIN DESPITE BEING SHOT UP.

I love westerns. Especially when it's cowboys and Indians. I love the indians. They are cleaner more civilized and ALOT more spiritual than the cowboys. In my opinion. Haven't watched

Who would have thought the Wolfman could play a part like that? Actually Chaney played a lot of parts and a lot of them were westerns.
Nolan Bowen...I am 70 and back in the late 50's I would ride my bicycle to the movie theatre on Saturdays and watch Lon Chaney, Jr as the Wolfman, watch Frankenstein, Dracula, Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, and the rest of the great horror stars of those years. Lon Chaney, Jr. was a big star back then and I always had a lot of respect for him for playing these much lesser star quality roles in the Westerns. A lot of "stars" get the big head and too much pride and do not want to be anything else but the main star in the movie.
Way to go, Mr. Chaney..!!

The ‘old man’ Dana Andrews was not 40 but 56 .. & looked it. Good story.
All of these actors are up there in years..Bob Steele almost unrecognizable, Dana didn't age very well, in his 50's and looking 70, Bettger, same old role...bad guy, Lon Jr. The story holds my attention though.
Dana hardly looked 70 in this. But I enjoyed seeing these actors a little older and still doing a great job.

Great cast of actors..... Good acting.... I just couldn't figure out who the good guys were or the bad guys. So the script was a little askew if you ask me. I'd give it a c+ or a b. Worth a watch however.

I was asking about the above western with Dana Andrew's and each time I asked what year the film was made it came up short...not even recognizing my slow speech. As to what I was requesting. The mayor can fire a town marshal. Sheriff is an elected position. They have to be recalled

opening scene was a bit weird. how do get shot at and not once try to hide or even turn around to see who's shooting at you smh. pizzed me off lol. but lets get into the movie and see how it goes 😆

While I wanted to see this movie, I could not get the volume high enough to hear the words. I'm hard of hearing, It would be very helpful to have English script to enable reading of the dialogue. It appears to be a decent movie, if I could only hear it [or read dialogue]. :)
I pay for youtube premium , and this film had english sub-titles, which I need to help understand most of the sound.
